QUOTE(hfi @ Oct 13 2013, 11:23 PM) With Lucas, Gerrard and Alonso those are 3 very off paced midfielders. If BR persists with 352 and going with 2 CMs and a CAM triangle, then Alonso would be playing in Gerrard's position as the other CM has to do more of the heavy lifting. Can't see us play both Gerrard and Alonso in midfield as they lack pace and tenacity, unless we play more like Juventus with 3 CMs. But Coutinho should be playing as the no 10 when he gets back, he is potentially a genuine playmaker and needs to play more centrally. IF we do sign Alonso, I reckon it will be Lucas who will be phased out and Henderson who will move into a central role from his current wider position. He has shown great tenacity this season and often operates on both ends of the pitch, most notably against Crystal Palace. He has the energy and stamina to complement Gerrard and Alonso. I can't wait to see who we sign. Hopefully a solid midfielder. In the event we play Lucas instead, we can play with 3 at the back as we have been to make up for the lack of pace by pushing one of our centrebacks up into midfield when needed. In any case, if someone lacks pace, they can make up for it by reading the game well. It's something Hamann did to great effect. |

A realistic signing for our midfield competition is Yohan Cabaye. That guy is too good for Magpies. He definitely would bring more to our team. He's adapted to EPL, strong and good passer and can score goals as well.

Saw this posted on the official Liverpool forum. Just a rumour, not sure how true, but what do you guys think?
Red Bull Liverpool... Yay or Nay? Personally I'd rather them as sponsors, not owners as I think FSG is doing a decent job at the moment. And changing our club's name, logo, etc. is definitely a big issue for me. QUOTE Billionaires Red Bull want to buy a football club in England – and ‘give it wings’ to make it big, writes Alan Nixon in the People. The Austrian-based energy drinks firm are on the look-out for a suitable club, with Anglophile coach Ralf Rangnick, sporting director of Red Bull Salzburg, heading the search. As well as current Austrian league leaders Salzburg, Red Bull already owns clubs in Germany, New York, Brazil and Ghana. The company’s sporting assets also include two Formula One teams: Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso. Now coach Rangnick, who almost got the Everton job in the summer, has been tasked to find a club in England for their latest move into ownership. An insider in the deal said: “Red Bull want a team to take into the Champions League. It is the only market they have not reached yet. Ideally this would be in the London area, but both Everton and Liverpool interest them too because it would not take much to get them to that level. “They have looked at the Championship, but you can spend fortunes there and not make any progress.” Rangnick, an English-educated German, has a good knowledge of the game and is looking at several options. He would also oversee the purchase and running of the club. News of Red Bull’s interest is spreading rapidly and there should be no lack of willing sellers. The company’s Formula One success, with Sebastian Vettel taking them towards a fourth straight title, has put them on the map, but buying a club in the ‘home’ of football could be their biggest coup yet. And taking it into the Champions League is the ultimate aim for one of the biggest sports-backing firms in the business. Teams which could be lined up EVERTONBill Kenwright has been looking for a respectable buyer for his club for years. The fact Ralf Rangnick nearly got the job and knows the club helps. Only snag – Red Bull Everton?!? LIVERPOOLThe American owners have pumped in millions and will want a big return on their investment. Genuine worldwide appeal. Red Bull Liverpool does have a ring. CRYSTAL PALACERed Bull would really give the Eagles wings. London, near airports, very appealing. Would not cost much, but needs a big spend. Red Bull Crystal Palace is a mouthful. WEST HAMOwners who are always open to approaches. New home at the Olympic Stadium makes them appealing too. Red Bull West Ham? Not so crazy. LEEDS The Yorkshire club has history, a huge fan base and owners who would sell at the drop of a hat. Red Bull Leeds United? Why not? Source |

Just a rumour, not sure how true, but what do you guys think? no. i agree with u on the sponsor. change owner now wont do us any good in my opinion. I like the way FSG do their job now such as put the King in the board of director and 3 former player as a coach. Red Bull Liverpool... Yay or Nay? QUOTE(Max_07s @ Oct 14 2013, 08:29 AM) loaning Suso is not a waste. we give him time play which we cant guarantee in Liverpool. young player need to play more to gain confidence. my opinion.. we also need to loan out sterling and wisdom. but we need to hold Alberto until January for back up. my concern is Right Back and CM. who gonna back up Johnson? seriously I doubt Kelly fitness and Wisdom consistency. QUOTE(Max_07s @ Oct 14 2013, 12:00 PM) Agree and Agree to both posts.Loaning Suso was a good move. There's no place for him atm in BR's plan. He's getting game time and experience in LaLiga which is something we cant offer. So..win win. Yohan Kebab is too injury prone. And..he's not going to strengthen our squad by much anyway. |

He has shown great tenacity this season and often operates on both ends of the pitch, most notably against Crystal Palace. He has the energy and stamina to complement Gerrard and Alonso. But Lucas does read the game well. Perhaps mental and physical fatigue has slowly taken it's toll on him. Or maybe he has become disenchanted with the prospect of playing for Liverpool which has been quite a trend with foreign players lately i.e. Reina, Skrtel etc.In the event we play Lucas instead, we can play with 3 at the back as we have been to make up for the lack of pace by pushing one of our centrebacks up into midfield when needed. In any case, if someone lacks pace, they can make up for it by reading the game well. It's something Hamann did to great effect. I think both Allen and Hendo can do a job in midfield especially the former. Hendo has great engine but he can't bring the ball forward like Allen can. Both players have their strengths and weaknesses. With Alonso, i'm not sure how we will accommodate him. As he will essentially play in the same role as Gerrard. Do we rotate them? And will they be so open to the idea with World Cup around the corner ? |

Out of the midfielders we have, Allen and Lucas are going to be the one being shipped out.
Hendo has great engine and can both attack and defend. And Coutinho will be playing at the hole. As such, I cant really see any more spot for Lucas and Allen if we are to sign any more midfielders. |

If Lucas is getting sold it is simply because we need the money for whatever reason. He's not had a good start this season but you could say the same for Gerrard. The other midfielders haven't had enough start so we can't exactly make any decent comparisons.
Hendo has had a good start this season but lets not get carried away. If i'm not mistaken, he has played only once this season in midfield and that was against C. Palace. I think we will know who BR rates more when we play Arsenal. |
