I wonder if the existing glass SPs for Note 2 will fit, since the glass face seems to be only 1mm difference.

A post from Samsung
https://plus.google.com/1002595009867110597...sts/RaoYeCoaRB6 Last week we unveiled the GALAXY Note 3: a smartphone that makes the user’s everyday routines easy and joyful. But did you know that user insights (yes, you) played a vital role in how the GALAXY Note 3 was developed? At the consumer research arm of the mobile division at Samsung Electronics, we identify valuable insights and package them into comprehensive solutions that resonate with our consumers as true benefits. A rigorous process goes into the development of our products. With the GALAXY Note 3, development of the device was informed by the feedback we received from our GALAXY Note II users. We carried out qualitative research and quantitative surveys with GALAXY Note II users across the globe, and the insights we uncovered can be placed into three categories: Who, Why and How. So who bought the GALAXY Note II? The young and trendy user with a large social footprint. Our research tells us that the gender ratio was fairly balanced, with over 70% of GALAXY Note II in their 20s and 30s. This group belongs to the middle income level, with nearly half being professional or white-collar workers. Now that we know who purchased the GALAXY Note II, we wanted to find out why. Three reasons stood out: the large screen, S Pen features, and brand and product reputation. Hardware performance and software wraps up this top-five list. The generous screen provides an excellent on-the-go experience with the ability to see more in greater detail. The S Pen, on the other hand, enables a unique productive function. With the GALAXY Note II, users can do more. Having this information is great, but what was even more beneficial was discovering how people were using the Note II’s functions. It turns out that the features enabled with the S Pen - such as Pop-up Note, Air View, and multitasking with Multi Window - dominated the list. It was clear to us that not only are users buying the GALAXY Note II for its unique features, but they are also using and benefiting from them on a daily basis. So what do we do with this trove of data? Naturally we had to ask what users’ expectations for the next Note were. We know that with the GALAXY Note II, users feel more informed; they stay productive and efficient. But with the next model, they wanted to be able to do more with a larger screen and use the S Pen in an even more productive way on a device with a premium design. Our answer is the GALAXY Note 3. Not off topic since it is used in Android. It takes a jab at M$ as well. |

Anyway, from one of the comments on the Reddit post:
I used to be a BTS engineer and I regularly used to work with Cell phone towers. Your battery will be greatly affected by how far you are from the tower. Your phone is a very intelligent device and it will tune its radio antennas very efficiently to transmit the minimum required maximum power. Which means that if you are closer to tower, it will reduce the TX antenna power, if you are far from tower, it will increase the TX antenna power. Also note that, your phone+carrier branded phone combination will have different set of rules on which tower it connects to. For example, my work place is very close to one AT&T tower, however that tower does not support LTE. My phone is set to connect to LTE preferred, meaning that it will connect to LTE tower even if its not the closest one. So even if you are surrounded by 5 different towers but there is a LTE tower further away, all of the LTE phones are going to connect to that single tower. Then comes in pictures the call hand offs and other things but thats a different topic. (There are lots of different algorithms which decides what tower your phone connects to, I won't go in detail of all of them) Also, each tower connects to 24 connections in one direction, 92 in total for 3 antennas. (this may vary). So if your tower your nearest tower is maxed out, you may connect to a diff tower. In short, even if you have two identical phones with exact same batteries with same usage pattern, you will get different battery life out of it. Your mileage may vary. ================== Maybe that's why I've never gotten more than 5h SOT on a good day. KNS... |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Sep 14 2013, 09:07 PM) I am a 3G/4G geek, your phone uses more power on H+ compared to H or 3G. Your reddit link on post 2. On LTE depends on design might be more or less. Lower signal require the power amplifier to run at higher power so can maintain signal stability. As per Note 2 thread, contributors will be credited. |
