OIC, so it's a promo. I'm eyeing 6-mth tenure so I can uplift them by Sep. Then I can use this fund to reduce my house loan, coupled with withdrawal from EPF Acc 2.

If I decided to let it renew, the rate is attractive still. Let monehhh make monehhh smile.gif

I already did an FD with Affin @ 3.6% pa. That's my long-term placement and keep 'em rolling smile.gif

Thx BCC!
*
You are very welcome.. smile.gif cybpsych

Let's say if your FD will mature in April, then when almost approaching April, you have to
start look for other new FD promo to continue taking advantage of the better interest rate.

This is how our seniors here call it: Chasing Mucical Chair

If you renew, you will get board rate.

So when your FD matures, you withdraw it and place it in another bank's FD promo.

this is interesting!

any website link? so far i dug out this http://www.ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/Ac...etail.html?id=6

no 3.6% pa for 6 months tenure.
*edit: what happen after maturity? if auto-renew (another 6-mth), will get 3.6% pa too? IMO, it's quite attractive since you're rolling the fund every 6-mth instead of affin's or ocbc's own CMGIA-i  3.6% @ 12mth
*
I also didn't know about it until I went there and the girl told me.
I was given a choice to auto-renew at board rate or credit to account upon maturity, so as usual I'll credit to account and withdraw out on maturity day. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Mar 6 2014, 10:27 PM)
Do you know when is this OCBC's 3.6% for 6 months promo ends?

Minimum RM 1K is not bad  smile.gif
Thanks for the OCBC link..

After 6 months, your FD rate will become board rate.
If auto renew 6 months, you will get 6 months rate based on board rate.

Like what Top cat mentioned, if go for Affin Islamic 3.6% for 12 months and coupled
with monthly interest and maybe will get some gifts, Affin Islamic is a better option.
*
Ah, forgot to ask when this promo will end. I'm going over again Monday, will help you ask then if no one else here asked already. smile.gif

Wah..  sweat.gif .. you are qualified to join CIA or KGB directly without needing to taking the test and training.. Very Steady.. sweat.gif

This can be done also just like what The Guy did, but provided if we have one member who has a good relationship with the bank, and all members will show-up on time with the correct amount of money.

gchowyh has a good point about this issue..
*
Digging infos from LYN forum is quite easy. Just don't request to dig for T-Rex fossil...that task really jialat lo sweat.gif

Since you're the mastermind, I think it's best for you to be the representative & make a package deal with bank. My personal POV is that big branded bank won't give a hoot about a group of depositors with XX amount of money asking for an extra % rate. Futhermore, their FD rate are not competitive enough to justify the risk & effort (this statement is null if there's a finger-licking-good FD promo available).

Institution without PIDM protection will offer a higher chance of success. It has been proven that they are willing to entertain certain request with the right amount of money & tenure. PIDM or non-PIDM won't be a major issue if the tenure is short to medium term. The major issue would be their willingness to offer higher % rate for multiple depositors from various branches. BCC a.k.a. The Mastermind, it seems like you need to bring your highest grade nego skill when you confront the HQ staff flex.gif

This whole idea may seem whimsy but it adds a certain zest to the affair. Hopefully all the selected members will give full support & cooperation; or else it'll suffer ignominious failure.

Ha ha, please read the earlier post that I reply to BCC. BR wise nothing is concrete or written in blood. They may have a set of rules but it can be broken at branch level, at least. So they may have set 100k as nego guideline, but as BM can still give 0.05% extra, you can ask for it. I did it recently and got it for way lower than 100k.

Good luck ! biggrin.gif

Oh, another person you can ask is the Special Guy, he may be reading/listening under stealth mode .................... brows.gif tongue.gif

Ya, that is true. Last year I was very fedup with Uptown branch, so went to another branch to open a new FD.
The teller told me by right I should continue depositing in the original Uptown branch.
I told him no, is too inconvenient, hard to find parking & I will eventually move all my funds over etc etc...
So finally he allowed me to open & with nego rate somemore.

Think I will call up all the branches around PJ to ask then biggrin.gif

I got in early this year only...sorry, not sure how they count. May need to read their TnC, etc.
Buying now is to take advantage of the 2% SC promo...dividend should be prorated.
I'm in for longer term. Just like UT and others with SC, can't do short term, rugi on the SC. sweat.gif

Warrior, I am afraid I am not the right person to handle this job because I am not a good negotiator sad.gif ..
Can you represent us to deal with MBSB? smile.gif
I agree BR should be our first target.

If bank offers gifts for our group FD, what if our representative can "sapu" all the bank gifts as
his/her rewards? hmm.gif Or do you have any ideas to add more zests?

No la, I am not the mastermind, but I am good in boasting and "blow water" only.. biggrin.gif
