OO .. for MBB will it work if i don't have savings account ? =/ I have maybank2u coz i have CC with them but no savings/current account ... probably cannot right =/
*
Ya, you need CASA acct to be your source of fund when open new eFD (placement).
When you close matured eFD (uplift), the fund goes back to your CASA acct.
All via maybank2u internet banking facility.

Thinking to place Am Bank 4.12% FD for 3 years, but heard many rumors
OPR will rise to 3.25% or 3.5% soon due to inflation..?

I cannot decide if I should take this 3 years gamble for 4.12%..?  hmm.gif

Just deposited RM 1K into KWSP during last month..

Can somebody log in www.mbsb.com.my ?
This is another bad news from BR..  sad.gif
Then will you lose 3 or 4 days days interest..?
*
Just a quick check... is the AmBank 4.12% FD insured by PIDM?
I believe it should be, but just don't see it being mentioned in their TnC.
Am considering to take this up after my HL Mach FD matured next week.

Hi all,
I have BR FD maturing this month.
I was worried my renewal will use the new board rate and needed a fresh FD cert to ease my worry.
I have called the branch and found the following info for sharing.

1. My FD will be auto-renewed with the same rate as last year (nego @ 4.11%) without needing to visit the branch. blink.gif
2. No new FD cert will be printed for auto-renewal, but can request for statement at branch.
3. If ask for new FD cert, meant an uplift and new placement, then new rate will be applied. (I thought some BR veterans here said must insist for new cert to verify interest rate.) hmm.gif
4. New board rates have been revised down 0.05% since Nov '13 (old news).
5. Old products cannot be auto-renewed (mine started last year, cosider new), they will call acct holders individually and new certs will be printed with new rates.

This is my first renewal at BR, so still unsure and worried about the new rate used at renewal? Any sifu could enlighten on this part? notworthy.gif

Which BR branch did you go to, which state ?

For auto renewal, it will go to the current board rate, not even nego rate. For my FD in BR, I used online account to check, auto renew will just go to board rate.

You better check again or use online account to see the interest rate for related FD.  smile.gif

QUOTE(magika @ Jan 3 2014, 01:11 PM)
Better listen to this old goat regarding BR.  rolleyes.gif

One of my FD reached maturity in the middle of November 2013 and was renewed with new cert at 4.20% pa. It would be a good idea to check online on your FD renewal as suggested.
*
Yes, I feel doubtful myself on that and reconfirm 4, 5 times over the phone, and the officer says yes, it will follow the same rate as previous year.
As for the online acct, I have just checked again, it is not stated with any rate at all.
Even the FD cert is without the interest rate, but at least with the total interest amount.

Appreciate BR sifu whom have gone through renewal to confirm the following: icon_question.gif
1. Do you get a new FD cert reprinted or other document indicating your new maturity date? (magika said new cert)
2. Do you get back the old rate or new rate? (bbgoat said board rate)
3. How to check interest rate at online acct? Refer my online acct screenshot below, interest rate is not shown.
Thank you. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Sorry but cannot check online. Only way is to request for new cert or ask them to scribble on old cert. Do not and I repeat do not trust totally unwritten assurances. Make double sure or dont quarrel later on maturity.  cry.gif

Normally for conventional FD including those on promotional or nego rates, on renewal it will fall back to board rate. I have seem before some bank clauses ( not BR) explicitly mentioning it.
*
QUOTE(bbgoat @ Jan 3 2014, 04:08 PM)
You are right. I checked and the interest rate is not shown in online account. I used to check based on the monthly interest paid out to verify the FD rate for renewed cert.

But as Magika pointed out, all the verbal confirmation does not mean anything. Your safest bet is to get a printed FD cert. I know what you have said, but this seemed a bit unusual.

I have talked to BR ABM before and renewal will be at board rate. I confirmed that on those renewed FD and they are just getting board rate not the higher rate I got before !! They have changed some rules regarding amount entitled for nego rate.

Good luck !!  smile.gif

Thanks for your replies.
I guess I just have to re-nego and hopefully can get some extra lah... wink.gif

Guys, latest news...
Went to HL Mach @ Sunway Gizza today, greeted by a tall sweetie, model like figure, easily 5'11". BCC should go and check it out. tongue.gif
Sorry, back to the news, she said they are launching a new FD promo starting tomorrow.
1 year Mach FD @ 3.7%p.a. (no CASA link).
Not fantastic but that's their promo for the new year.
Check the news and their website tomorrow if you are interested.
She said need fresh fund, but if you transfer from Money Box, consider fresh fund as they can't control fund transfer over the internet. E.g. if you have Mach FD maturing, if auto renew will get board rate, but if uplift into Money Box and then place a new Mach FD then can entitle for promo rate. nod.gif

BR has updated their website with the lower board rates (refer screenshot).
I went to renew my BR FD, could only get 0.05% extra from board rate. 1 year 3.96% --> 4.01%.
Guess not as good luck as other BR sifu's here. Was rushing too, so din really playing tug of war game with them.

Then I notice there is almost 0.2% diff between 1yr and 2yr. (It is only 0.05% diff between 2yr and 3yr!)
The guy also said there were rumours that rates might rise this year.
After some mental battling, I took the 2yr FD with 4.20%. Can take it easy for the next 2 years without hassle to hunt for new promo. cool2.gif
Got 2 management diaries (leather-like cover, not bad quality), 2 huge wall hanging monthly calendars, 1 umbrella, angpow packets. rclxms.gif

The thing I like about BR is the monthly interest crediting.
For the past 1 year, it just crediting to my SA like clockwork or like salary. thumbup.gif
Then, I IBG out on the same day via internet banking.

If already a Money Box Deposit Accountholder, Cheque placement can be done at HLBank Branches for this Mach's FD promo?

Yes, can do online.
Deposit your cheque into your Money Box acct, and once cheque cleared, then can place the FD online.
The girl at HL Mach branch confirmed that.
You can also call them to re-confirm before visiting their branch.

Better to go to the branch to do cheque placement then to go thru Money Box as you will earn extra 2-3 days interest instead of waiting for cheque to clear.

https://www.machbyhongleongbank.com/frequen...h-fixed-deposit

The cut-off time for depositing of cheques will be at 4.00 p.m. Cheque placements after the cut-off time and during weekends and public holidays will only take effect the next business day.
*
Yes, if wanted to have your FD started on the day you present the cheque, then need to go to HL branch.
Alternative approach if one could not visit the branch during office hour, can use HL cheque deposit machine and then place Mach FD online after cheque cleared.
Another way is to TT/IBG/Rentas your fund from other bank into your Money Box acct (for existing Mach customer) and then place Mach FD online.
From my understanding via Mach staff, at least Mach FD as an eFD product, allow placement by funding from Money Box acct to entitle for promo rate. As compare to most promo FD which mainly only take cheque/cash as fresh fund over the counter.

3.7% wei, it's really good enough considering how low the rates have been the past many months.
Makes me wonder...maybe other banks are coming out with higher rates this year? *wishful thinking*
*
Yes, consider better than most promo which either on Step-Up or CASA-link (require to put money into CASA).
I was on Mach FD last year where it was launched with 4% p.a., so feeling no excitement with this 3.7%. yawn.gif
I have moved on to take on AmBank 4.12% promo, but on 3yr tenure. drool.gif
I like Mach FD on their monthly interest crediting feature. It does let me feel my FD is working as compare to conventional FD that only see the interest at the end of maturity date. thumbup.gif

But I don't think you can have Mach FD starts on the same day if you walk in to Mach branch with cheque in the evening time. My pass experience was Mach staff say need to go to HL bank branch if want to have FD start on the same day. Mach branch at Paradigm Mall failed to do that. I had to go to the Mach branch at Sunway Gizza that is below a HL bank branch. Mach staff ran upstair to deposit my cheque and ran down to get my Mach FD placed on the same day.

Frankly speaking, besides those "canggeh" internet PC's (and ATM/Deposit machines), I have challenged them what exactly can they/customers do in a Mach branch? For example, I had to go to HL conventional branch if I need to uplift my Mach FD and issue a banker's cheque. It just looks silly to me when they say "Oh, that you need to go to the bank branch...". If Mach and bank branch are up/downstair like Sunway Gizza is still acceptable. But it will be painful/stuck if they are in different buildings/locations. doh.gif
So, make sure you check first before you plan to visit Mach branch to avoid unproductive trip. sweat.gif

Renew BR FD from 1 year to 2 year can still receive gifts? I thought FD renewal won't entitled us to any gifts. Did you top-up your matured FD for that 2-year placement?
*
Zero top-up, just uplift and place new FD with same amount.
Probably the officer feel sorry can't get higher rate for me... He said he had tried with HQ.
Feel they could give higher, but din have time to play the "if no good rate, I pull out completely" trick. tongue.gif
Like some BR sifu here mention here before, just ask for free gift. Somehow BR is quite generous on this.
I got 2 diaries (I like the cover feel, see pic attached) from the officer, and ask again from the counter guy, got umbrella + 2 huge wall hanging calendars (hardly find it these days). laugh.gif

This is the 3rd time I am very pissed off with BR for their lousy service... mad.gif

I requested BR to make monthly interest payment from my 1 year FD to my saving account,
but they did not do it the 3rd time. I called them just now, then BR deposited my first month interest into my saving account within 2 hours, I checked this via iRakyat.

When I placed this 1 year FD last year December, I already mentioned twice to BR to make monthly interest payment to my BR saving account. Why I mentioned twice because when I placed my 5 years FD with BR couple years ago (first case), they also "forgot" to deposit monthly interest, but they rectified it immediately after I complained.

Then 2nd case, when I placed my 3 month FD during last year September, they also did not deposit
monthly interest, but I did not complain because I was thinking it was only a 3 months FD, I could
tolerate without monthly interest for 3 months.

This time (3rd case), I even more frustrated when BR asked me to call and remind them every month to deposit monthly interest to my saving account, because they have to do manually this time. I guess they missed the "timing" to set their system to auto pay monthly interest.

They also asked me to collect sarung ampao from them when I have time, they think I have a lot of free time to go there just to collect sarung ampao.  doh.gif .? If hamper then I will go la...
*
Wah, after reading this, I quickly go and check my FD cert...
It printed on the left bottom as "AKAUN DEPOSIT-i BERJANGKA (IND - MTH)".
I hope it means monthly interest lah. Will check in a month time. sweat.gif
Does yours have any indication like mine?
For the previous FD, the cert looks different, but it does credit interest into my SA on the dot every month. thumbup.gif

Correct. To uplift Mach FD, no need to go Mach branch.
Even I went that day, the staff just ask me to uplift myself using the internet PC in the Mach branch. doh.gif
As I mentioned in my previous post 2 weeks ago, the teller told me due to Moneybox acct is an e-acct, so it is hard for them to track the fresh fun as money can be IBG from other bank. Hence just uplift your matured FD and immediately place a new one, just choose the promo one from the drop-down list. All DIY. rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

On the surface it appears attractive. But then in their website, it mentioned 80/20 of FD/SA tie up. So less attractive already.

Somehow I am kind of not "attracted" to MBSB as compared to BR. Both are not PIDM protected. Anyone with MBSB ?
*
Same here...was attracted with the upfront interest at first.
With the 80/20 FD/SA split, even reinvesting the upfront interest, will get around 3.8% only. yawn.gif

Also there is no picture of the 1g gold wafer...
What can we do with it, for display or for it's value or can resell for cash?
It will cost you RM170 if FD is premature. blink.gif

I'll give it a pass this time.
