Hey, one question. Are MSI gaming laptops upgradable in terms of CPU and GPU? Thanks.

Looks Like the new Msi GT72 Dominator looks very slick sexy, loving the bottom vents to cool off the hot gpu+cpu..very promising look. will save money for end year on this for sure if it's priced 6-8k sweat.gif

Your request should be limited to region, for Malaysia, my opinion is:

DELL >= Illegear > Lenovo > MSI > ASUS

MSI warranty service sounds little bit confused to me, you better check with authorized sellers or MSI sc. By the way, only DELL, Illegear and Lenovo offer warranty upgrade. These are the 5 brands I know only, others I am not sure.

Sorry for necro your previous comment but may I know why MSI service is worse than Dell or Illegear?

I think looking for a 17 inch hopefully with 870M to replace my old G73JH. I'll be bringing it for oversea travel so Illegear is kinda out of the question, sadly.

The reason is no warranty extension package, somemore if anything happen to main hardware parts, it needs to be sent back to Taiwan manufacturer. So, shipping already cost you at least 2 weeks and up to months.

if you travel oversea, are you going to stay months or years? Or just few days? Bcs if you stay longer, I suggest you better buy oversea or choose the one with global warranty support.

FYI, MSI laptops come with 1st year global warranty service but not cover labor cost. I know that through a forumer in China went to Singapore to repair/replace hardware. Hardware parts is foc but installation (labor cost) need to be paid. Not sure DELL and Illgear how to handle this situation.

I might be traveling for months, having a decent warranty support from the start is good.

Still how is MSI laptop's reliability? Are there any major issues, like malfunctioning firmware? Is it easy to maintain the laptop like the heatsinks easily accessible for cleaning?

So far so good for my GT70, just need to be careful with USB 3.0 issue.

BIOS and Firmware are working well.

You can easily open backcover for maintainance purpose, but it will void warranty.

Still, if you play high demand 3D games like Watchdog, Titanfall, Crysis 3 etc. I suggest you choose dual fans gaming laptop, if you dont want to hear 58dB of cooler boost function of GT70.

Your customer in Sydney is quite lucky, maybe subjected to Australia local policy also.

Just bought a GS60 Ghost Pro at JB PC fair. how is the performance wise compare to my current Asus G75VW that I bought 2 years ago? Main reason i bought this is because of the weight and size as my G75VW is just too huge sad.gif

I just back from Persada PC Fair, quite surprise to see that MSI finally has a booth in Johor.

For performance, GS60 definitely has better performance than G75VW due to GPU upgrade and gap, but not the cooling. But you are moving down from 17" to 15.6", can you adapt to it?

Some freegifts are not necessary, especially mouse, hdmi cable, mouse pad etc.

But they do give you the backpack right?
