Just a Proton, car condition is important, but when it rains, it can be quite dangerous. Customers need to feel safe if we want them to visit us, with this incident, I believe they will be worried. So, I really hope something can be done to reassure everyone and build our confidence

Are you driving downhill correctly? I have seen cars with smoking tyres coming down from Genting because they didn't know how to drive downhill properly.

As far as I know, this thing is not illegal as there is no legal requirement on this matter. Plus the bus actually has hand grabs for standing passengers too.

That said, time to look at such aspects such as bus, driver or even having taller wall on the edges of the road.
*
IINM there's a limit for this kind of bus, how many should sit and how many should stand

correct ?

u cant really change the local driver attitude, this is Malaysia with a lot of kopi-o license + poor maintained bus. Stopping the vehicle falling off the cliff is the first step to improve safety.

upgrade 1 feet wall to 4 feet wall only, not lot of money in Genting's eye, but definitely will make a diff from stopping vehicle falling off the cliff. Accident like this make a bad press to Genting. Pretty sure Genting boss dont like this.

noob suggestion.

such big barrier will definately kill if not seriously wounded the passenger upon collision. wat is the point of building it if sure die-on-the-spot? heck you might not even come out in one piece

Need to know the actual cause first. smile.gif

Most often, the issue lies either the driver or the bus itself, followed by road.
*
The problem is, unless there is a proper solid measure undertaken to reduce such catastrophes, some people will be scared to go to genting.
The crash barrier on roads are inadequate to prevent buses from falling over due to its short height but then building higher barriers is not the solution, super ugly + costwise.

The best solution would be no busses pass Gotong jaya as the road after gotong jaya is pretty steep and for public transport there is cable car.
I also feel that the red Genting busses are safer, even though the drivers drives fast but you can feel he is well within limits and is experienced.

That one is yes.

Normally there is a sticker on the side of the bus.

'' xx penumpang " ''xx duduk xx berdiri''

I might agree, higher walls could come to the same results. I'm not sure, honestly, as I'm not an expert. However, I do agree with others' post that Genting has little influence over the driver's attitude and the bus company. It's something not within control, so, instead of sitting down and waiting for the image being tarnished, I hope something can be done. Whatever it is, I still believe some money can be spent to improve certain road safety features

yes, i don't understand why the roads up and down genting/cameron have to be in such poor conditions. can't they bloody make it wider
*
Hard cause its cut into a mountain. If it could be wider I think Genting would have done it since its their main income generator. Btw that section of the road have walls higher than 1ft. Its about 2 1/2ft if not mistaken. Guess if they make it higher it would block the fantastic view when coming down for cars. For safety I would suggest them installing something like this Cable Barrier

One the way now I did see other bus driving like ferrari even fly over the bumps. I suspect the bus was too fast and the brake doest eat.

I wonder is anyone there seeing it went down. Cannot be don't have.

Actually I always go Genting for my work conference- they do in Genting Resort World Hotel sometimes and my friend always fetch me there, he also say that he drive very slow on the way down from Genting to KL...so for safety I ask my friend stay with me and we go back together...coz my company pay for food and shopping.

I saw one guy was forced to stop his car by the road side because his tires were smoking and that was his first time driving downhill. He didn't know that he was supposed to use a low gear such as number 2, he relied on the brakes to slow down and so his brakes were failing and tires were very hot.

Maybe they should have used lower gear when going downhill instead of braking all the way. Anyway, my condolence to the family of the victims.
