The survivors reported the driver was driving angry....fire covered eyes and he purposely swerved the bus dangerously at the curve into the ravine instead of the emergency ramp.

Some drivers feel that since the vehicle is not theirs, can exploit anyway they like. How to make drivers feel responsible towards the safety of their passengers?

As in any type of transport, the less you pay, the higher your risk.

On land, anyone with a kopi licence can drive, cars, taxis, lorries or buses.

Read in the papers the driver only worked there for 2 months and was driving buses in Spore before. And he hate to be late.

so, 3 factors at least...
1. Impatient driver...must be on time.
2. Not used to hilly terrains, drove on flat roads in Spore
3. New to the route.

A deadly combination!

Public appeal to identify 2 victims

QUOTE
A HKL spokesman said one them was a fair skinned man likely to be a Chinese while the other
is believed to be an African woman.

"The man is 170cm tall, has hands of a person probably doing manual work. He had on him a
green keychain with two car keys, one believed to be of a Nissan model," he told reporters at HKL's mortuary today.

He also said the man wore a silver necklace, a grey T-shirt of the Spalding brand and green trousers
worn over a pair blue boxer shorts.

The accident, the worst ever road disaster in the country, claimed 37 lives and left 16 others injured,
some critically.

This is indeed saddening. Imagine if one is a parent to a child there, he just talked to you 2 days ago, and now he's gone forever. Next week, you're going to wonder just last week today he's sitting here, at this chair, at this table, talking to us and eating with us. Now, where is he?

Imagine how much a long time the child is going to live if it weren't for this.
He's going to be there long enough probably until you're gone and you're going to see your grandchildren, his children for a very long time. There are going to be so many wonderful things awaiting you guys together.

And now all this is gone, and you keep wondering what had just happened?

And it will only keep getting worse each day as you think how things could have been with him around today. And you also find reasons to blame yourself for letting him go there on that unfortunate day. This line of wondering will play in your mind for many many years.

It's just so devastating! How can this be recovered?

Sometimes a person just take a bus with a ticket of RM 7.00 and that is just what it takes to end a life and bring so much misery to one's family. Just RM7! Maybe this is all fated, as some said.

I hope that there can be a miracle for the child involved to to contact their parents somehow to give some sort of closure. Of course this could be just wishful thinking. This event is just so bad, it will change lives dramatically forever.

Quote from a Chinese news source:

其妈妈更不断喃喃自语:「跟妈妈回家」、「还回儿子给我」,并喊道「为何不让我
养久一点……拿到奖学金也没用了。」闻者心酸。

Translate:
The mum of a victim who died, keep on crying. She keep called out "Come and follow mummy to go home", "Give me back my son", "Why don't let me bring him up for a little longer?" and "received a scholarship but is useless now".

Also mentioned that her son is good and well mannered, seldom quarrel, good in studies, scholarship holder apparently from above and she said people always tell her how lucky she is because of her children, but she said "now is lucky until like this?".

This is the biggest shocking news but the Press should not have reported it until the SPAD had raided and seized all the records from the bus company.

Now they can amend the previous test results, etc.
