Currently am following Starting Strength, 3 months into it.

First week on Chest day: 40kg of 10reps X 3sets
Second week: 55kg 10x3
Third week: 55kg 10x3
Fourth week: 60kg 10x3

My max 1 rep by this time is 65 - 70kg.

If you are just started lifting weights, those number won't counts. What counts is how much you can "put exercise name here".

For 1 rep. Or in the other word, how much can you squat/bench/deadlift for 1 repetition.

i see...i actually tried that just now...
my friend who challenge me,total weightplate 60-65kg i think...not sure about barbell weight, forgot to ask the gym owner...but with alot of support tho...so my guess is maybe around 55kg...will try again next time for exact weight...so,it's not gonna ruin anything right??should i do '1 reps' test after few set of normal reps or do last or do 1st?

good thing to get used to proper form 1st...
i add 2.5kg x2 each time too...
i must have support/spotter to perform a proper form...
till i get my MP Assault, now i can easily lift with proper form without any support smile.gif
but i still prefered with support/spotter that give me more confident smile.gif
last night lift 15kg x2 PR smile.gif

I think beginners (like me) should stop counting numbers and focus on muscle contraction. I know numbers are very motivational but it could all be just ego you're lifting.

Power lifter lifts numbers, bodybuilder contracts muscles.

hmmm...true...after think of that for a sec...maybe i'll use the number as an excuse someday if i din't actually gain muscle mass...
ya,should focus on proper form or proper attitude...cuz this few days i get mentally stressed by those number, forcing myself to hit my own PR everyday...
thanks for the remind brahh... smile.gif
