Finally, I bought my fist ever camera after quite some time of researching. Was previously thinking of getting a dslr, but when I knew abt Nex camera, I instantly fell in love with it. The build is just superb. And I bought the white one, it's definitely nice in the eye biggrin.gif While a dslr, mehh, bulky and big and hideous bla bla bla. Not interested anymore. I bought Nex-3NY anyway. First time trying, need to learn how to use it first. Before this, only use family's camera wink.gif

Anyway, first I'd like to ask, why is it that when I try to snap a close-up picture, the pic will become blur? Second, I find that when I snapped a pic, sometimes the color of the pic will change. It's like it's trying to give the best color. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? hmm.gif

1) how close you shoot? you might have gotten too close and exceed the minimum focus distance.

2) camera is processing the picture, most probably ehat you saw was white balance changes.

Not that close. Snapping the whole pic of a phone, just trying. Is it considered as really close? But snapping the pic of camera using the phone looks good hmm.gif

I see. Is it a good thing? Because the color looks artificial. I mean, it's like creating a new color, not following the real color of the thing

a complete noob, a definite beginner; NEX-7 or NEX-6? in terms of cost, which would be more economical? last check, NEX-6 is around RM2700 to RM2800. how about the NEX-7? greatly appreciate the sharing, hehe. icon_rolleyes.gif

the only downside to NEX-6, i guess, it's the non touchscreen? sweat.gif

Even with the NEX-5n I rarely use the touchscreen. It's really a matter of personal preference and shooting style.

HOWEVER. Trying to login to FB with NEX-6 controls can be a pain. Thankfully it's only needed to do so once.

Not yet check/read the Nex 6 feature yet, but I check the Nex 5T also packed with a lot feature too. Not much price different between the Nex 6 and Nex 5T? hmm.gif

if you get a focus lock, it could be that it focused further back. i tried the NEX with the 1650 kit lens and it focus near just fine.

that's normal, if you shoot RAW and import it into editing software you'll see raw usually have less contrast and color punch (unless you use high quality lens), so the camera boost the contrast and color for jpegs.

But all the settings were default. I haven't changed anything yet

I see. I guess it shouldn't be a bad thing then

NEX-6 has a hotshoe that will be compatible with newer and future accessories.
It also has 16MP sensor, which is less burdensome to process compare to 24MP NEX-7. Save space too.
16MP is enough to print photos as large as 36" x 24" which not many casual photographer do these days.

I thought both NEX6 & 7 have no touchscreen??
Only go for NEX7 if you need that extra megapixel, otherwise they are very similar.

Most NEX lenses are very sharp at the center but not sharp at the corners. NEX 7 24megapixels only make things appear worse. NEX 6 is highly recommended especially at the current price point (compare to competitors products).

sounds good with the NEX-6, hehe. now, let's just wait for my savings to hit it. by the way, how you guys preserve the battery? usually, how long can it last? from what i've been told, mirrorless cameras usually eats up more juice? for NEX-6, probably around 350-400 shots? is it advisable to get a non-original battery as spare? advice?

The NEX6 is slightly lower than 300 even though it uses the same battery than other NEX. Yes, just get some 3rd party batteries NP-FW50. Get a charger too. The good news is the same battery can be share will all NEX and even the new Sony Full Frame A7 and A7R!
