Wouldnt it be nice if it got replaced by Nick/Disney? lol, one can dream....

I think HyppTV is working on getting Nick and Disney as well, but then given Assteruk monopoly, unless miracle happen...

Hope they consider Cartoonito. New channel by Cartoon Network, so far only available in Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines. And it has Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears...

Few channels I think should be removed, one of them is Parlimen Malaysia.
*
Well, other countries show their parlimen and congress on TV, I think Malaysian gomen want to appear to be among them.

Fail part is that the channel is FTA in other countries. It doesn't deserve to be on Cable, Satellite or IPTV. On the other hand, IPTV platform channels is limited by the server and software, unlike satellite and cable, bandwidth is not an issue. So TM actually doesn't lose much, especially if the channel is funded by gomen.

Where does one go to activate / login hypptv?
*
Activate on http://occ.unifi.my, login on the Android or iPad app.

Heard Assteruk advertise on radio this morning - 10 dedicated channels for World Cup on their platform. And to add insult and rub dirt in your face they dare to add in the end "only on Assteruk".

This is in contrast to certain other countries that are transmitting all the matches on public TV for free.

Seriously, if this monopoly bullshit don't get pulled, no other providers can stand up to Assteruk sad.gif

the fact is we at Hypptv paid RM 50 sports pack also got nothing... so, speechless really  doh.gif  doh.gif

And most likely HyppTV will be forced to block RTM1 when they show World Cup matches, just like they have to block when RTM1 show local football...

Very sad. Worse thing is no action being taken for Assteruk's monopoly. Everytime it's brought up it gets swept under the rug sad.gif

want to ask, the back of the hypptv box can put usb to play movie.

if i use an usb extension, will it cause any lagging problem? lazy want to always adjust the hypptv box to inser usb.
*
I think you can if your box is a newer one and you root your box. Older HyppTV boxes cannot root and those are usually use for (slowly) charging handphones. UniFi was supposed to introduce PVR function and you are supposed to connect a USB stick or hard disk for recording, but failed. Maybe because their technicians all have half past foot qualification.

QUOTE(mugenz @ May 15 2014, 12:12 PM)
anyone idea whether hypp tv got world cup package?

My astro is only in the living hall and my hypp tv is in my room, so i can just wake up and catch the world cup without going down to living hall.
*
Afaik, World Cup currently monopoly by Assteruk. Only way to get World Cup through HyppTV is the RTM1 retransmission, and even then hope they're not forced to cut off RTM1 during world cup airing (apparently SKMM forced them to cut off RTM feeds during Piala Malaysia).

Not happy about this? It's the SKMM's fault Assteruk has monopoly protection rights from gomen...

QUOTE(powerwoot @ May 15 2014, 11:49 AM)
I tried used a PC monitor last time, my monitor only supports DVI-D/VGA and connected to STB by using the hdmi-dvi converter Basically it is working outside the hypptv section, others such as setting and so on display a sharp resolution, but when I tried to run any of the channels, the PC turns blue due to out of frequency received. Either my monitor or the converter couldn't handle the frequency I am not very sure. Changing the settings to lower reso still no good. The audio I am used the modded audio jack, connected to the red and white audio port to the PC speaker.
*
Most monitors cannot support i50/p50 output and only support i60/p60. Problem is, HyppTV box output in i50. This is because of legacy, our country historically use 50Hz power supply. Unfortunately, most monitor is built for VESA, and VESA specification is that output must be p60 or i60 (because USA uses 60Hz power supply. While VESA is used worldwide, it bias USA).

You're better off buying a cheap 1080i TV and using that as a monitor instead.

I recall seeing a refresh rate setting in the service menu for the HyppTV box tho. If you can get into the service menu and change it to i60, then it will work.

QUOTE(fkinmeng @ May 16 2014, 08:50 AM)
so what is the best setting for hypptv? 1080p/60?
*
Yes, if your monitor is 1920x1080, then 1080p/60 is the best setting for it.

If your monitor is only 1366x768 to 1600x900, the best setting is 720p/60

Very few monitors can handle p50/i50 signal. The only one I had success with 50Hz signal so far is a Dell widescreen.

what about full hd tv? 1080p or 1080i? 50 or 60 Hz?
*
A full HD TV should be able to handle 1080p in either 50Hz or 60Hz, assuming the TV is made for ASIAN market. Unless your TV is imported from America, in which there will be possibility of it having restrictions locking it to 60Hz only.

Imo Assteruk's channel is the one that is lousy. HyppTV firstly less rain fade because it will only rain fade if there is monsoon at their dish farm. Secondly, their programming is marginally better since they have SyFy HD, M HD, [V] HD and BBC Entertainment.

Very strange. That's not supposed to happen, since I cut my power to my decoder frequently.

My suggestion would be to call their customer support and ask for decoder replacement. May be worth it if your existing decoder is the old Huawei decoder anyway.

old huawei decoder better? new one can insert usb and play movie wor.
*
No, I'm not saying it's better. I'm saying that if your current decoder is the old Huawei one, you should use this opportunity to change it for the new one. Although old one does have some benefits (i.e. the channel-to-service function actually works), the newer one is Android based and can accept sideload apps once you root it, which makes it quite useful.

i set my hyppTV box settings to 1080p/60 but when viewing channel, my TV shows only 480i from source...
help please.
*
If you are using HDMI, two possibilities:
1. TV has broken/no HDCP support (maybe HDMI circuit in TV is damaged)
2. Cable is no good.

Try changing the cable first. If it still doesn't work then try a different TV.

PS: If you have a splitter and/or wireless HDMI extender, make sure they support HDCP. HyppTV box is known to be stupidly strict with it's output- analog is macrovision protected and component can only output SD, and HDMI will drop to SD the moment it finds something it doesn't like.

Thanks for advise... The 480i only happened if I use the hypptv.. If using media player to play full HD no problem at all....

But I do use home plug for transmitting signal from router coz is far from my router...
*
I don't think homeplug can cause this problem. Can you try using a different HDMI cable? Also try lower resolution like 1080i and 720p. If still cannot, it either means the HDCP component of the TV is somehow incompatible with HyppTV, or the TV has no/broken HDCP (I think Media Players usually don't have HDCP protection), or the decoder itself is faulty.

OK, I got replaced by warranty. (HAD TO WAIT FOR ONE FREAKING MONTH!)
BTW, I noticed the STB got different options than older one.

Newer one got option to change HyppTV Streamyx or UniFi.
One more thing, is this version is suitable to root using this link?
*
Yep, the newer version is the one suitable for root.

Got XBMC working?
Or is there any infrared remote apps which can adjust buttons on the remote to work properly? I mean the numeric buttons.
*
Not sure. My decoder is the old version that cannot root (hence why I'm puzzled yours can die like that. I've been using mine 2 years now, on-off as usual, no problems). I run XBMC on a separate Linux Media Center.

We should blame the SKMM for this. They are the one who allow assteruk to simply set their prices instead of coughing up the money so that World Cup is aired on all channels. Assteruk is simply using their monopoly powers given by their buddies at the SKMM to squash the competition.

In fact, the fact that assteruk has the power to tell the competition to block a national channel is just wrong. If a show is aired on national channel it should be considered to be "donated to the rakyat" and every provider should have the rights to air it regardless.

That said, I'm not sad that HyppTV doesn't have the World Cup (I'm not a kaki bola). What I'm sad is that the SKMM is helping assteruk to pull off bullying stunts like this and get away with it. I'm also sad that everyone is blaming HyppTV instead of the real culprits- SKMM and assteruk.

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ May 29 2014, 10:50 PM)
well, TM is no saint either, all of them are cronies under BN

govt has awarded the nation's fiber infra to TM, and Maxis (sibling of Astro) has to rent the infra from TM, not to mention the border internet exchange which is monopolized by TM, so yeah, TM is making money from Maxis' customers as well

given the fact that Khazanah has significant stakes in both TM and Astro, the real beneficiary are nobody but BN cronies, especially those in EPU

the losers will always be the rakyat

from youth consumers POV however, no Astro still can survive, but no internet sure die, hence ISP is perceived as having higher priority than DTV operator, you still can stream from RTM web or various online streaming providers
*
True, and it's really sad that the rakyat is not aggressive enough to stand up to this and just accept it and continue to be shaved like sheeps.

But the HyppTV staff was at least more willing to listen to the customers compared to Assteruk. Many of the channels are requested by one person or another on this forum. Ie BBC Entertainment, [V]HD International, RTL CBS EXtreme HD, etc. Assteruk, they focus mostly only on their in house and tell customers off when a request for a channel is made (as per my experience when asking them to bring back BBC Entertainment in 2010 and other LYN member accounts). The only thing keeping them popular is their use of the monopoly rights to secure sporting events like these.

That said, the real problem is still the SKMM for allowing dirty monopoly tactics like this. This should not have been allowed in the first place. Anything on national TV belongs to the rakyat and should be rightfully allowed to be screened on all platforms in Malaysia.

Oh yeah, PS: monsoon season. Lets see how well this will go.

Didn't know astro can do this. Over Here, mio TV n Starhub has to allow all programs , including sports from FTA chs to past thru to their customers, no blackout......if not MDA, local media authority will step in.
*
Malaysian gomen, specifically Mahathir's gomen's SKMM, granted Assteruk special monopoly rights back in 1996 which will persist until 2016. The rights had been abused, combined with Assteruk's deceptive tactics, to singlehandedly kill MegaTV and MiTV in the past (although it can be argued that MegaTV themselves are too slow to expand), and is currently being used to strangle Vincent Tan's JV with RedTone (eTV), ABN and HyppTV so they cannot grow fast enough.

QUOTE(fkinmeng @ May 30 2014, 09:08 AM)
can't stream from rtm web, sure lag.
*
Lag is one thing, but now RTM changed their site to use flash based streaming service. This will be a PITA to those wanting to see full screen and not in a small box on a webpage.

QUOTE(fkinmeng @ May 30 2014, 09:08 AM)
actually HyppTV can negotiate to show only certain popular matches right? perhaps start showing from quarter final to finals.
*
That is a good idea. Write in to HyppTV and suggest this?

Although my believe still stays. RTM belongs to the rakyat, it runs on our tax money. Anything shown on it should be allowed onto all other platforms in Malaysia, paid or not. Because we the rakyat paid for it.

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ Jun 2 2014, 10:59 PM)
it's simple, I dare say, Astro's honeypot are coming from chinese subscribers, the Superpack 3 is the most expensive one, besides charging premium price for latest TVB dramas which can be seen on WLT 9-12 months later. My colleague also jokingly refer Astro as something meant for maids to watch only, which is true in some way... as chinese working class are out to work, leaving the old folks/kids/maids at home, end up the maids could be enjoying Astro while their employers work their asses off to pay the monthly fee laugh.gif

unfortunately that HKTV was not granted a license, hence TVB continues to dominate the cantonese market, indirectly this helps Astro in their business as well.

recently get to watch HyppTV quality at friend's home, the quality on SD really is crystal clear, quality approaching DVD9, surpassing even Astro's own in house channels shocking.gif
*
Well, this is because TM has an dedicated 20Mbps vlan for HyppTV. Story is very different if you watch HyppTV on a Streamyx 4Mbps line. Also, TM is using multicast, so in actuality very little bandwidth is used. TM's bandwidth is not limited by number of channels, but by capability of network (ie number of available free IP address and capability of server).

Also, I won't be surprised if TM already using H.264 + AAC audio for all channels. Assteruk is still using MPEG-2 + MP2 audio for SD.

As for assteruk, I agree with your assessment fully. Although I do acknowledge that Kaki bolas are their second main clients.
