kinda agree with you.. these two channel seems pretty blur and the sharpness have been reduced gradually..
*
Hmmm... Should call in to TM and complain. But on the other hand, you sure it's TM reducing bandwidth? RTL CBS is notorious for having a lot of upscaled SD content.

QUOTE(powerwoot @ Sep 8 2014, 07:31 AM)
Must be they haven't finalised it with Astro yet.

Idk why people would want Assteruk inhouse channel. Isn't it better to ask for Indon channels directly (barring the fact that we already have MNC?)

Just made a little comment in their facebook about HD for RTL, they said it is in HD, must be they don't know between HD and SD in comparison.

About Awani and Oasis, I believe hypptv have to import local contents from other company as they are lacking their own channel that provides local malay language contents. Hypp Sensasi ch116 is supposed to do that, but it is not up to the expectation, maybe as it is similar to channel Emas that been pulled out recently.
*
Hmmm... Maybe you're right- maybe they're messing around with the compression and this time they set compression level too low. It's a possibility since low compression will result in poor PQ even at HD resolution.

Understood about Awani and Oasis. I thought Awani was an Indon channel, my bad. Should note that Emas is actually run by Media Prima tho, but transmitted exclusively by TM over HyppTV.

i just noticed rtl cbs channels r listed as "more" on their website.

so, is it becos they r trial channels, they been mucking around hd n sd?

*
Highly doubtful if these channels are in trial for so long. Maybe it's because there is not enough subscribers taking that channel?

what are the major differences between HyppTV on Unifi and 4Mbps Streamyx, aside from picture quality?

does the IPTV eat off partial of that 4Mbps Streamyx bandwidth? because AFAIK, it's not possible to have dedicated video VLAN on Streamyx
*
As I recall, yes, IPTV will eat off bandwidth if using screamyx. That's why screamyx only works with the newer decoder, which if I remember correctly at first run will ask you if you're using screamyx or UniFi.

Strange- try switching it back to i50 or i60 and see if it works?

1080i/60 -> 480i
1080p/50 -> 576p
1080i/50 ->576i

Sounds like the set top box doesn't like the TV's HDCP key (usual problem, the HyppTV decoder is very paranoid. Even analog has Macrovision protection). Test on a different TV, and if still occur then call TM for a replacement decoder since can claim as faulty.

From the sound of it I think your AVR doesn't support the HyppTV box's HDCP key. Either that or it doesn't support HDCP at all (unlikely unless it's more than 10 years old). Connect your STB to the TV's HDMI port directly and use the TV's ARC to pass the sound to the AVR instead and see if that works.

Like I said before, the HyppTV box is designed to be stupidly overparanoid for whatever reason only Huawei knows. Even if it comes across one HDCP key it doesn't recognize in the chain, it will straight away drop to SD.

Wonder if this will be SD or HD? Will it replace the current nick jr channel? really stressed whenever my nieces/younger cousins come over and watch nick jr. Look horrendous on my plasma doh.gif
*
I hope they don't replace and run this one as an Interactive service instead.

Afaik, Nick Jr is not available in HD in Asia yet. Or else TM would have switched already (see BBC Knowledge and [V] International, TM switched both to HD as soon as HD version is available).

True!!!...My wife's and kid's kept complaning about the blurry "HD"...they ask me is it HD ?...why blah...blah...blahhh. I just simply turn off the STB and switch to Astro Byond...Sigh!!!!

ps- TM should revise their T&C (breach policies imo)...i for one subscribe the streamyx 8 MB package bcoz tempting the hyyptv got HD channel and wanted to terminate my astro...but now it almost different story... sigh!!!!
*
The problem is that TM is reluctant to increase ADSL2+ speed on the Screamyx line for fear of 1. Cannibalising the Unifi sales and 2. Broken promises (ADSL2+ can only reach 24mbps at best effort and will definitely fail unless TM has an exchange on every street corner). 4mbps is definitely not enough for HD, and 8mbps will slow to a crawl when HD content is being delivered. The only way TM can deliver HD content to Screamyx customers is to overhaul their entire copper infrastructure. Which takes us back to 1: cannibalising the Unifi sales.

i do not know if unifi give better or worse video than streamyx for the same channels. but note than only some channels are "hd" the rest are sd or worse, imo. some are hardly watchable!
*
They already made it clear that Streamyx users will be getting HD channels downgraded to ED (widescreen SD) instead. Mainly because they don't want to upgrade their copper line architecture to support better DSL speeds for whatever reason, but going HD on a 8Mbps line will kill the line due to their HD compression profile (they allocated 20mbps for HD on UniFi). Our ADSL is still stuck at version 1 with best effort speed of 12Mbps. Other countries already roll out ADSL2+ (best effort speed of 24mbps) as a stopgap- meaning they can give the Hypp box the required 20mbps and still have 4mbps for internet. But no, they decide to let their ADSL architecture stagnate in favor of FTTH and FTTP.

That said, they're also wrong to roll out UniFi so slowly. Thailand uses an identical architecture to UniFi (I've seen their GPONT while on holiday in Songkla, it's exactly the same as UniFi's) and whole country already covered within months of the kings decree. TM coverage in East Coast is still spotty as heck and we can forget about East Malaysia where currently only the oil production provinces are covered...

thanks for info.

which means unifi users are already getting better "hd" channels than streamyx...
*
That I can attest. Because I see none of the degradations reported by the Streamyx users.

It's a shame that they're not planning to upgrade their copper infra to support the speeds. Could've just done so as a stopgap measure or give people a choice (ie expensive but stable UniFi, or cheaper but not very stable Streamyx).

QUOTE(McFcker @ Oct 1 2014, 03:30 PM)
hey, wanna ask if anyone experiencing the same problem, using VIP10 right now before this was VIP5 the Hypptv is unwatchable it lags alot, i called the svc they said is due to the internet speed, but its been like that since last year when i was on VIP5...
*
This is very weird tho. IPTV on UniFi does not use internet bandwidth, it has it's own 20Mbps VLAN. So when you're signing up for VIP5, you're actually getting VIP5 PLUS a secondary 20mbps line for IPTV.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Oct 1 2014, 09:01 PM)
check the lan cables, try changing cables.
the unifi guy used a new cable for modem-router when he changed my modem recently.
he said its a better cable, old one no good.

if all tried, still same, better call, complain p, get them to troubleshoot again.
*
+1. There is either something wrong with the IPTV box, something wrong with the modem or something wrong with the cabling.

On the topic of the IPTV box, which type did you receive? I have this theory- If it's the newer Huawei Android one, maybe he activated it in Streamyx mode instead of UniFi mode. Streamyx does not have VLAN so the IPTV simply leached off the internet connection, but UniFi does have VLAN dedicated to IPTV and the IPTV should use it.

I eat my words. TM is letting South Park through albeit with cuts.

Makes you wonder why Assteruk hates the show so much that they must remove it from their feed of Comedy Central over IPTV...

But Android STB has it's own weakness. Some people say it cannot support 5.1 audio.

TM has dropped BBC Entertainment. Since I was the creator of the original petition to bring it in and I'm very saddened by the loss of the channel (new episodes of Doctor Who were just starting. Especially this, I'm a big fan of Doctor Who), I've created a petition asking them to bring it back:

Thanks.
