I think nokia also want to release asap, but they need to test with wp8.1 so it need some time....

just like android when google released 4.4 kitkat, manufacturer like sony, Samsung, htc still release the phone in 4.3 or 4.2 because they rushing the release the phone and no time to test with latest OS version...

Finally it's worth to recommend WP8 to my friends..
A lot are quite curious to jump ship but I always address the problem especially when it comes to notification.
Now that notification are fully responsive and fast, with a lot of new features WP has finally matured.

Cortana is pretty in-dept interms of the setting which is pretty good.
If only Cortana would talk to me more rather than giving me bing search results.
Then... I realize it's still in Beta

Cortana will talk back if your question is a simple answer eg asking how is weather today, who is president if xxx country today, what is best smartphone etc ...if answers could be a choice you will get a listing response

i'm planning to migrate from nexus 5 to lumia 920. one major concern is that i back up my contact with google, so can i sync it when i use wp? and can i still use google to back up my contact using wp?

yes you can. sync all your contact from droid to wp.

Thanks for your clarification. Do i need third party apps to do this or can just sign in with google and all the contact will sync? ordered my first lumia from 7mobile

There is an app called Transfer my Data which could transfer all your contacts via bluetooth.
Some supported phones can transfer their text messages as well as photos too.

no need 3rd app. just sign in. i have 3 google 2 live.

With the latest 8.1 update, I don't think much could go wrong.

Make sure you use US region though, there will be a lot of missing apps if you go with Malaysia or others.
Previous experience, not sure how it is now though.

certain apps only available to specific region. mostly specific apps such online banking apps or telco apps will only available to its country/region.
certain games also only available in US region (exp: TheSims Freeplay, Gameloft published games), dunno why
if you are apps savvy, then its better to fix ur region to US

essential apps like FB, Twitter, Whatsapp, Wechat, Line.. all available to all region. even if you cannot find the official apps, WP has stunning 3rd Party apps (exp: myTube as 3rd Party Apps to replace crippling Youtube apps)

Hi guys, new to this thread, been using android (SGN2) since 2012 but thinking about WP since i heard the camera is much better... any suggestions for a lumia, should i get the 9xx series, 10xx series or 15xx series if i want a similar screen (5' and above) and good camera?

Wait for Lumia 930 (or the Icon in the US). It is basically a Lumia 1520 in a 5 inch aluminium frame

but for me not worth it la...
with such a beast camera, but no memory expansion slot...
my 1520 memory card already almost full...

plus, non Memory type OLED... means no glance screen.

wifi connection is more stable now, but battery drain is really bad......disabling background apps from running also didnt helped much

Haha friendzoned.. I think they'll add more stuff soon so it'll have more responds in the future.

Wifi connection is now super nice with an awesome option to automatically switch between both cellular and wifi.
I like it when I off my modem automatically it will change on wifi and also the wifi searching option.

People hub pretty much dead lol.. Battery drain issue for me there is no problem at least not yet.
If too buggy always restart phone should be good.
