I love playing mid/late game so it's not unnatural for me to go 5/6 bases (with at least 3 macro hatches) by 16 or 18 minutes.  But what I do is I keep to 4 queens injecting non-stop on my main, natural, 3rd and my first macro hatch which I usually place near my main or natural.  I make more macro hatches to bring my queens to heal my tier 3 units.

Tier 3 units (and upgrades) are very gas heavy and to get there, every player needs to get to 5 bases (10 geysers churning out approximately 1200 gas per in-game minute) as quickly but as safely as possible.

I don't mind going over 100 drones because I tend to use them for spines in front of my bases (or spores behind my bases), most especially if I have more than 2000 minerals banked.

You just have to know when to stop pumping drones, when to resume pumping drones and start pumping units, when to transition, when to expand, and so on.
*
oh yea you are right, why did I sent those drones to suicide to have more supply instead should just build spine crawlers doh.gif

you are zerg player? how do you defend against terran drops? i normally put at least 1 or 2 spine crawler at mineral blindly, even if they don't really go for early drops, since spine crawler is movable, i can move it somewhere else later

The only practice I get is against Vision Cheater AI, just to keep my fingers nimble. Fingers only. And I manage 160 to 200 APM (around 40 to 50 EAPM). Playing AI gets old though, because the AI doesn't adapt to what I'm doing.

But until I get Unifi, I don't think I'd get to play ladder to start learning stuff again.

Overlords placed strategically around the bases to spot for incoming Medivacs, 3 or 4 spines, 2 or 3 spores, spare lings and the queen standing by the hatch. A few spores at the edges of your base would be nice. It's quite an investment, but the benefits outweigh the wasted cost and time rebuilding what tech buildings you have could have lost if the drop happened.

If the drops didn't happen, it could mean that the investment did its job--preventing the drops. With 3 mining bases, you've easily recovered that cost in less than a minute. 2 minutes if you count the cost of the drones you used to make those crawlers.

normally in the game as observer, in the income tab, example it shows like this

Income Harvester

Mineral Gas
300 100 20
1400 500 60

300 mineral and 100 gas means the amount collected per minute?

That's correct.

Note that "per minute" refers to 1 "in-game minute", which is a hair below 42.9 real-world seconds.

If you notice your in-game timer, it runs faster than a standard clock. By a factor of 1.4, to be precise.

Therefore, doing simple arithmetic, 1 in-game minute is actually 42.8571 real world seconds.

ah god, I was thinking the same thing, but then I was like it cant be true, but WHAT? seriously they make it that way? but why? so if it shows I am playing 20 minutes ,it actually means it is shorter?

I have no idea why really.

Normal game speed is 1 to 1, meaning, 1 in-game second is 1 real world second.

Fast game speed is 1 to 1.2 then Faster game speed is 1 to 1.4.

You could read this and it could probably make sense. I don't remember what that article actually says and I can't read it now coz I'm at work and TL is blocked by the firewall.

same, TL is blocked here at my work, but nvm la, later I go back and read, who play at normal speed anyway, it is so slow, they should have make it 1 to 1 at faster speed
