Faster in other areas but still slower when loading odex compare to deodex.

The so-call faster mostly due to bionic/krait optimization. You can do that without customized ROM. I am on stock ROM, can get 25k 24k antutu score on 1.5ghz.

ps: sorry, 24k only.. err.. my point is, it's ok to use deodex ROM for customization, important to many people, but whenever u use it, bare in mind there is a tiny teeny bit of performance hit.
*
if that the case can we odex back our custom ROM?

What I care is the customization and extra features.
The rest I won't bother much... If I am crazy for performance, I won't be with MIUI ROM.

Like you've said, Odexed is faster than Deodex but current generation phones already too fast and have no effect on whether the phone is odexed or deodexed.
So, what's the point for odex already?
Moreover, the bionic/krait optimization you mentioned is already build-in in Custom ROM. So, it'll be significant faster compared to pure stock ROM(unless, you modify it).

For the customization, original ROM is surely very limited. Custom ROM is way a lot!

FYI, Custom ROM can be odexed too. As I recall, there's an app for that.
Had done it way far during Galaxy S 1st generation. Placebo effects.

No significant performance boost or anything can be detected by human eyes or sense. It's only digital prints.
Current generation phones are too fast and too advance.
Don't bother.
But, there's an app for that.

Was fine before.  Just noticed it last few weeks.

Is the signal at your place weak ? if 3G is on and the signal is weak, could be due to that.

I only have one complain for it,the camera is too big, other than that everything is good  rclxms.gif
*
S4's camera also quite big right? A little hump on the back for a better camera or a flatter back for a lousy camera, I choose the former. blush.gif

QUOTE(phantomash @ Sep 7 2013, 03:22 PM)
I'm not a camera pro, so I'm not going to pretend to be one. But basic logic tells you that the bigger the lens is the more light you can get into your sensor, hence better photos.

A quick Googling I found a few links that might help explain why bigger lens is better...

Does a bigger aperture create better photos

Does a bigger camera lens always produce a better picture?

Are bigger lens in a camera a better thing then small lens? What are the advantages of a bigger lens?
*
Erm... Actually... Sometimes bigger lens is for a bigger sensor. When the sensor is bigger, of course a bigger lens is needed to let light in. Aperture is another thing. Sensor size should be the main factor in controlling the "size" of a "camera" on a "phone".

Nokia Pureview 808 has a 1/1.2" sensor thus it's big like a monster biggrin.gif
Lumia 1020 has a 1/1.5" or 2/3" sensor which is smaller so the hump is also smaller. Of course they slim down and redesigned other parts too. Best to ask nokia what they did biggrin.gif
Xperia Z1 has a 1/2.3" sensor, which is the same size as the one used in QX10. The numbers may not sound like a huge difference but this 1/2.3" sensor is actually about a quarter of the size of the 1/1.2" sensor in 808.

user posted image

So... The biggest controlling factor in the size of the camera on a phone is the sensor size. The lens size and thus the "hump" due to the camera depends on the sensor size.

iPhone/One/S4 all using 1/3.2 or 1/3" sensor. Quite a lot smaller.

Other factors affecting include image stabilisation like the one in LG G2 and Lumia 1020. I'm referring to Optical Stabilisation, not software based stabilisation. Optical means there's a mechanism that compensates the sensor positioning with any movement or vibration due to our hands or body movement. S4/One/iPhone/Z1 all not equipped with this feature.

Not expert too. Just my understandings. Enjoy icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: Seems like HTC One has OIS. biggrin.gif

Did you update your Antutu score? Antutu is now on V4 with some new tests for "Multitask", "Dalvik" and some changes to the GPU test. biggrin.gif

Just got my Nexus 4 today, after scouting around a bit. Best prices I've seen for new 16GB sets:

AP set price: 990 (example Dark Devon is ordering from US, you can check out Garage sales)
Local set: 1150 (example DirectD)

I ended up getting a local set, simply because I wanted to be able to check the phone for defects when buying, and any warranty claims from LG will be simpler. DirectD really has good business, packed at 11am!!

Anyone get their Nexus 4 screen protector at Low Yat Plaza? I got a cheap one today (RM15), but i can already see it's coming off at the edges. Using a Ballistic Shell SG case, so I only need a (dry) protector for the screen. Recommendations please! smile.gif
