Yeah, to be honest I don't want pro models to be my subjects, since my aim is to bring out the best light and life from normal people like my gf and her friends.

I understand part of the reason that there's something missing is the communication between me and my subjects. Since it is me who is directing them through the shots.

If I make them comfortable enough or otherwise, it shows in the photos. Therefore I gotta brush up my social skills too  brows.gif

One reason I haven't really gotten around to using presets is I don't really know which suits what photo and all that. And also because I see photographers abusing it to the point where the effect takes center of attention, disappointing really  doh.gif

About natural shots, I do ask them to do funny stuff, here's the few that I've already had up online  biggrin.gif

I totally agree with you on the 1st sentence thumbup.gif I prefer helping people I know to create memories too rclxms.gif

Haha, don't be too hard on yourself mate, sometimes its not just about you la haha... if you have me as a model you'll have a tough day too since my expressions are all very fake one laugh.gif laugh.gif

Again, great photos man. I like the one where they all hide behind sofa one (not uploaded here i think) thumbup.gif Cute~

Yeah, she's been a great help to my improvements in the past two years especially with portraits, dunno what I'd do without her icon_rolleyes.gif

Hehe, as they say, without some sort of goal to look forward to, it's hard to motivate yourself to improve.

whistling.gif having a difficult subject is one thing, but I still feel that the photographer's charisma is still quite important in bringing out a subject's true colors.

What you see frozen in that slice of time, is that connection between the photographer and his subject.
I look up video tutorials, and some of the more prominent ones like peter hurley and sue bryce produce really inspiring works.

Oh yeah, that sofa shot laugh.gif That's their idea, not mine. It's a pretty interesting shot though I must say

If you are hired by the studio, then legally the photos are owned by the studio.
