QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Aug 10 2013, 08:14 PM) New Nikonian here! Great choice of a camera mate, and welcome to the club! I bought my first DSLR Nikon D5100 two months ago because of the price drop due to D5200 is out. Been practising on it with my Nikkor 35mm 1.8G. Love it, although my first impression when I was holding it was like "Man! It's very light and plasticky!" » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Love your photos, especially no. 2 QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Aug 10 2013, 09:53 PM) Until when will the picture be up? I'd definitely appreciate more input on what I can do better. About the hair, yeah, I do realise that too |

QUOTE(teetaatee @ Aug 10 2013, 11:57 PM) i was like that too when started studio type of portrait, didnt notice all the small thingy, but thats very important yo I see, these girls all have no experience in posing, I'm the one directing them for the poses, although I only know basics, can't seem make their poses real enough to have meaning in the final shots yet. There's still something missing whenever I look at my shots. is she still fresh in posing? toning wise, how i learn for myself, im using lightroom then i downloaded many preset from net, from there i can see their adjustment, then i slowly make mine or modify from the preset Thanks for the input though, will definitely try to notice small details like these in the future I downloaded a huge collection of presets, but haven't really been around to use them yet. |

There's still something missing whenever I look at my shots. I understand what you mean bro haha XD Most of my shots lack the "natural feel" as well, though to be honest its not really obvious in your shots la Thanks for the input though, will definitely try to notice small details like these in the future I downloaded a huge collection of presets, but haven't really been around to use them yet. Most people are not trained like professional models, and will definitely become unnatural once the camera is aimed at them One of the best ways to shoot is to ask them to go about their business while you shoot, the shots will be more natural (even though the models will most probably hate them! XD).. but even this also depends on the cooperativeness and also chemistry between the subjects i.e. your gf and her friends.. Some groups get along super well, and are thus very easy to work with.. some do not I often use a lot of presets, but sometimes its best to not use any, particularly for ones like your present set of photos (strobes + white blackground), unless its a preset with very minor change of color tones. Just my 2 cents though haha |

Most people are not trained like professional models, and will definitely become unnatural once the camera is aimed at them One of the best ways to shoot is to ask them to go about their business while you shoot, the shots will be more natural (even though the models will most probably hate them! Just my 2 cents though haha I understand part of the reason that there's something missing is the communication between me and my subjects. Since it is me who is directing them through the shots. If I make them comfortable enough or otherwise, it shows in the photos. Therefore I gotta brush up my social skills too One reason I haven't really gotten around to using presets is I don't really know which suits what photo and all that. And also because I see photographers abusing it to the point where the effect takes center of attention, disappointing really About natural shots, I do ask them to do funny stuff, here's the few that I've already had up online ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(teetaatee @ Aug 11 2013, 12:30 AM) yea.. u got all the tools, why not trying out some new thing? backdrop just use white wall la.. haha Because the shot was kinda fast paced, had a few hours to do everything, no time to experiment so I just went ahead with what I know works. Two umbrellas left and right and a boom stand with a softbox on the top. sure u have to bookmark that link QUOTE(teetaatee @ Aug 11 2013, 12:32 AM) Exactly, memang This post has been edited by gunzerdude: Aug 11 2013, 12:36 AM |
