Shall we review each other's performances yesterday? tongue.gif

Personally; I guess you were unlucky. No defensive cover practically means the goal's conceeded already. However; I guess both side's strikers were wasteful in the 2nd half.

Anyway; I actually bought a Reusch Resistor from Europe and I'm waiting for my first Uhlsport x-change lite to arrive. Not sure what I'm going to use the gloves for though yet. Might rotate them with my G-force as match gloves and maybe the occasional field football. As expected though; the T90 Spynes perform slightly better in football. Slightly less wear; as to be expected.

I've noticed the Adidas gloves tend to require less pre-wash. I've also got 2 pairs of x-tenso kontacts. Very suitable for futsal and developing hand technique as it's very finger-like and not bulky. However; durability's horrible. Even worst than the T90 Spyne.

Basically, almost all Adidas gloves available in Malaysia is Replique versions, except for the Response, I've seen Response Pro in GS Gill. So, relaxla, the only thing Ur missing is the Climacool backhand & E6S. Have U seen next year's models ? U can check it out at Pro Direct Soccer's site.

On my performance on Saturday, I didn't like the way I played. Lately I've been making too many schoolboy errors, even in my afternoon games. Even my kampung team asked me what was wrong coz they just can't imagine my making those kind of mistakes. So many errors that I'm considering taking a break from football, completely. I think it has to do with my mental rather than physical abilities. But everytime I wanted to take a day off, my other side forces me to go to the field & try to correct things. & I haven't stopped playing, trying to remedy things a little at at time.

If U noticed Glozz, I used my Lotto during the 1st half & the Adidas in the 2nd half. Reason being, I haven't used the Lotto for quite sometime edi, & the grip was horrible. During the 1st half I was lucky there was no shots. When I got home I washed it & used it again yesterday. But although there was little improvement, it wasn't anywhere near perfect, like when I first got it. I thought maybe I've used too much soap during washing, so yesterday I washed it using water only. I'll have to wait until Saturday before I can test it again.

Let me know when U get those new gloves, would like to see 'em. Next time when we play, maybe we can warm-up together.

To be honest; I had that phase when I first re-started playing tourneys 'bout 5 months ago during my first 5 sessions even before training. I was too slow, not my usual self, dropping easy balls and even not diving fast enough or low enough.

I put it down to a couple of things. First; I had no real knowledge of my body's best start position. Thus I started all over again; found a body position which my body was comfortable with and which would supplement my reflexes. For me; that position is a forward crouch with knees bent, legs spread for comfort; 'bout 2 feet wide and feet with the heels off the ground and resting only on the ball of the feet. Tested numerous other positions before I found this one which is optimal for my body's stature. I also redefined my one-on-one body positioning and movement.

Secondly; age plays a major factor in reflex speed reduction. I started doing reflexes training in water as the increased resistance helped develop the reflex.

Thirdly; concentration and mental strength and fitness as you've correctly mentioned. I avoid thinking during games and before games; especially about who you're playing with and who you're playing against. Just take it easy and try to relax. During games; I just keep my mind blank and concentrate on the ball's movement. I also ensure that my eyes are constantly open and does not blink, especially when the ball's coming. I mimic ball movement by attempting to poke my eyes with my fingers and see whether I blink. Off course I don't poke my eyes larr. rclxub.gif shocking.gif I also tell myself to relax and wait for the shots or one-on-ones before I do something. Goalies are meant to react; not act.

Lastly; I constantly revise my movements and gameplay and performance. I accept the mistakes I make and learn not to be harsh on myself and just seek to correct my mistakes or to improve areas I can. Slowly and surely I got back on form.

Take it easy man; it's a normal phase we all go through both as humans and as goalies.

As for the gloves; I'm not sure; but my Lottos do quite well with soap; but after I've not used them for like 10 days; I noticed that they took significantly longer during pre-wetting to be grippy. After that; it was okay again. Having said that; I'll check the spare lotto I keep stored in the cupboard and see if it's misbehaving. I guess where you keep them also plays a part; I keep them in a shoebox in an open drawer out of the sun.

Attached are from left; my x-tenso kontact. As you can see; horrible wear. After 3 sessions of 2 hours each. But on carpet lar. I suspect they'll be more durable on artificial turf and rubber cement. I'll try to test that theory on rubber cement during tomorrow's game. Next; the reusch resistor. This one I find very unique; the wrist strap is a wrap and I think will easily replace the lotto for best wrist protection. Haven't used it yet though. Lastly; the uhlsport x-change lite. I am really impressed by these gloves. The material suggests it'll be quite durable. Haven't used it yet though. I've got gloves surplus currently. rclxub.gif My fault completely though.

Before you think I'm perasan; any comments 'bout my play? Thanks. notworthy.gif tongue.gif

My futsal sessions are either private sessions or the LYN futsal-do on Monday night. Put your name there if you're interested; the list'll normally be out on Sunday or so. But it runs out fast.

I thought you normally have your weekly sessions of futsal?

Well; if you're reallyyyy serious about wanting to play, how 'bout friday nights? But the better question is; would you be willing to travel to klang to play and are you willing to play with some really tough guys? Tough as in very challenging for keepers. My Friday private fun session wouldn't mind good players (especially willing keepers) as they're running 'lil short nowadays.

Whoa cool, i just came across this thread while looking for the best place to get fingersave gloves. Ive been playin for around 16 years now... since 10 years old. I love being a keeper man... diving n saving, one on ones, going in for the ball, gives me the adrenaline. My fingers nowadays arent in good shape le.. my index and pinky finger cant bend sideways that comfortably, and sometimes after a save from a very powerful shot, i can feel my fingers like sorta vibrating. I always kena hit at face and MOST OF THE TIME, my balls... urgh.

I play about 3-4 times a week of futsals, used to play big field but since ive got no time to train, i use futsal as a training session la. I normally am "imported" coz they are always looking for a keeper, only problem is time i guess. Bz wif work n all... Ive played in tournaments before.. gotta say, futsal tournaments are rough man... coolest moment was when i got a last minute invitation, which was like 4am, and the game was next morning at 7am.. so didnt sleep lo... but lost in the finals which was like around 3pm.. so brain considered dead already hehehe but still managed to make some pretty good point blank saves.

Currently i'm using Uhlsport Absolutgrip Ergonomic Aquasoft old model, the one wif the read color. Its totally busted... imagine i can stick out all my fingers, and the palm is hanging.. yes its terrible. Amazingly ive had it for 5 years.. wow.

So now, im thinkin of changing my glove... but i still prefer fingersave gloves.. budget around rm200, probably mite get puma or adidas, but i still love uhlsport la, i think theyre a good buy. Btw, cool job wif this thread!

To be honest; Malaysia sucks in terms of glove selection. I've been hooked on the different e-bay portals and prodirect soccer and I've been on a sustained shopping spree for fingersave gloves ever since my fingers were stepped on during one of my futsal sessions 6 weeks ago. I've also resorted to wearing volleyball finger bands as well as wearing fingersave gloves. So far; seems OK and fingers are slowly healing, but managed to strain my back last week and am slowly weaning it back into shape. Pain's just 'bit left, much better than last week. Feeling old though. rclxub.gif tongue.gif

Anyway; I think I've got close to like 10-15 gloves now; with 'bout 5-7 of them being fingersavers. If anyone's interested; I can put up some reviews and pictures. I've got 3-4 more coming in via mail in the next 3 weeks or so. Hopefully these are the last round of my purchases. Got to wear through some of them. I've been very, very, very disappointed with the Adidas 2008 Fingersave Replique.

Pro-direct also has the non-uk tax, they just call it VAT; check out the ex-vat price. Just keeper's specials prices are cheaper than pro-direct; otherwise pro-direct's quite reasonable. Lemme know; at least can save on the shipping.

hey guys, i play futsal every thursday and i play as the 1st choice keeper or central defense.

anyway, i play in HTO Subang. This has the BEST blue pitch of any futsal courts! every thursday smile.gif

i don't want to play with gloves, but i want something to protect my fingertips.OTHER than plasters, what can i get?

any suggestions?
*
HTO Subang? Best pitch? You should try Real Sports Arena in Klang or Pan Global. IMO, I feel HTO courts are 'lil too small. Results in lots of goalie physical contact. Something to protect your fingers? I'm using volleyball finger protectors currently (they've helped stiffen my fingers when I had to rehab 'couple of them after they were injured); together with Finger-spine goalkeeper gloves. Seems to have stopped the injuries I was getting. Even though my fingers still sometimes get stepped on. icon_question.gif flex.gif

Seriously, after playing in so many different futsal courts, all i can say is that HTO is the best
haha

i don't want to wear long sleeved jerseys, BUT i would like some form of padding for my elbows. What can i get?
*
Well; I'm not too sure 'bout HTO being the best; though.

Why'd you need padding for your elbows? If you're getting scrapes on elbows and knees, it is likely that your technique needs tweaking rather than equipment 'cause incorrect technique can lead to more problems; even with pads on. Besides; Terraflex (the blue material for the court) is one of the gentlest court materials for skins so if you're getting burns on Terraflex, there's probably something you've really got to look at as far as diving is concerned. As for me; I only wear an elbow support on my left elbow due to my previous elbow fracture 10 years ago. I still get the odd carpet burn on my right elbow when I'm half asleep or something, but that's normal I guess. tongue.gif Erm; I do wear other supports as well, but they're all for other injuries. I swear! tongue.gif cry.gif

Regarding the elbow pads, no i'm not getting scrapes nor bruises. Whatever technique you use, surely you would hurt one way or other. I don't want to end up having internal injuries when i drop on the floor. I've been playing all these while without any pads on my elbows but lately my right elbow is hurting and i'm talking about the bone, so i think it's quite justified that i need padding, without the need to "tweak my technique" ,bro.

On a lighter note! - Thanks for the tip on the finger protectors! Where can i get them? Those would help a lot!
And thank you for taking the time to answer me in detail. i always prefer answers like these in comparison to monosyllabic answers.

As for HTO, i guess i'm comparing them with kl-subang-pj pitches.
*
Actually; contrary to common belief; with the proper technique, you actually avoid getting hurt. If you read goalkeeper coaching manuals, goalie training is almost always focussed on technique in order to avoid injuries. As for myself; I know that even though I don't get bruises or scrapes, if I'm half asleep and sometimes make a mistake landing, bumps and bone aches are normal results for me. tongue.gif And that's while I'm wearing my pad. And as I mentioned; Terraflex courts will almost never cause carpet burns or scrapes; therefore if the technique's wrong, the result would probably be aches and pain 'round the bone area; since Terraflex is particularly unforgiving towards impact.

However; if you feel the need for pads; whatever floats your boat man. All I'll say is that unless you use the Kevlar pads which top level goalies use; I doubt it would make much of a difference. As for internal injuries; they're normally indicated by some form of restricted movement or discolouration of the skin.

Don't have to be so sensitive man; I didn't mean to imply anything else by my previous statements. Just being factual. As for the finger protectors, try normal sport shops that sell variety of stuffs. Erm, well; Pan Global's in PJ. Once again; just my opinion 'bout HTO. I feel that it's kinda small for the price. There's lots of terraflex courts 'round the klang valley that're better value.

Pan Global's near PJ Old town. If the bone smarts after the game; it's probably diving technique. Try raising the elbow a 'lil when you're diving before bringing it down.

For finger protectors; any will do. They're all the same price; just that most shops may not sell them. Look for those ol' school sports shops that sell everything; they probably have 'em. As for elbow pads, you can get any to test it out but like I said; you probably won't feel the difference unless you use something like kevlar pads.

Erm; try checking sizing charts online and see whether there's any. Should follow circumference of the elbow.

Share shipping? Boleh; bila? I need to buy 2/3 pairs of pants and MAYBE 1 glove. heh. tongue.gif

2 things I notice; it's due to both your physical and mental fitness as well as how often you've been playing. I used to be like that; but I notice i'm much better now; however, I can still make the odd mistake when I allow myself to be complacent. rclxub.gif
