most of the time just 1 core is needed. the rest of the core just sit there waiting for thing to happen. most likely core 3 just fire 1% of the cpu time and core 4 almost never fire.

thats y an advanced chipset with dual core can be faster than a old generation quadcore. (remember intel vs amd's big bike vs tricycle?)

in benchmarks, all cores are used to achieve higher score.

oh? really?? then the antutu benchmark score for the p780 is fake?? it hit 13,000++ .. thats higher than the best dual core but still no match for high end quad core scores...
*
don bother to argue those things la... benchmark is lying sometimes... as long as the UI is smooth i'm ok...
i hate S3 or most Samsung phones cos it is not that smooth...

i mean, during normal use of phone - call, browse internet, facebook, scroll screen etc, 2 core is more than enough.

very few application make full use of 4 cores.

Planning to get 1 soon but internal storage too low, split partition some more.
Any of you rooted to combine with ext sdcard?
No need custom rom just root with stock rom will do.
Btw, how much ram available after boot up, many bloatwares?
Oh yeah, actually not yet made up my mind either p780 or s820 both very similar hardware apart from LCD size, battery & camera, this phone is for my wife so what you guys advise, still weighing both phone features.

I still haven't got my P780 yet but using A830 which using same chip set so I assume it antutu benchmark similar. For reference and comparison.. RM700 vs RM1800 biggrin.gif
Oh btw, my RM700 got 2sims active while the RM1800 must use 2phones = RM3600 tongue.gif

Add : Cheap phone but very smooth as daily driver. My phone condition bit cacat since ady faceplant 2x on road. doh.gif but still can use.

Same with me, custom ROM w/out bloatware contribute to the smooth also...

Yes some ppl already tried on others phone like S920 and A830...
Combine around 3GB...
Actually I never see the free ram but should be more than 200MB, and it is smooth...
For P780 maybe it is a lil heavy for a lady cos it is 175g...
But for the same price, u get different camera, LCD size, and battery...
This applied to S920 also all three around 800-900 and same processor...

She is currently using sharp sh530u start to complain about internal storage full (2 partitions 2GB+ & 14GB+) & lags.
The 1st partition (phone memory) full but the other just 50% & most apps can be moved to 2nd (internal memory) as well, some can't like Facebook, chrome & few others.

S920 a bit larger but look nice, tried before smooth, like I said storage is split into 2, the phone memory is too small unless root & combine with ext storage (>4GB), or else same problem surely re-occur.
Anyway, my budget <1k that's why looking at Lenovo or else I would have bought others (Huawei P6, nexus 4 or S3).

Well depends on personal usage... if u wanna have bigger one then buy Xperia SP, skip S3 and others u mention there...
Bought 1 for my gf not long after the launch, no problem on laggy issue... and the speed and UI smoothness is one of the best for dual core device...
HuaWei chipset is not that fast...
S3 is having a lot of issues, Google for common S3 issue...
Nexus4 also not bad but not worth the money u paying...
Sony Xperia SP is around RM1.1k... so suits ur standard...

Would have taken Xperia SP if the screen at least 4.7".
Tested by wf she said too small.

So any of you guys rooted? There are guides for MTK6589 rooting (applicable to S920 also) & partition resizing.
Not sure can use same method for p780.

Good to hear that..
Since the battery capacity is quite massive, how long does it usually take to fully charge it?
