Planning to get 1 soon but internal storage too low, split partition some more. Any of you rooted to combine with ext sdcard? No need custom rom just root with stock rom will do. Btw, how much ram available after boot up, many bloatwares? Oh yeah, actually not yet made up my mind either p780 or s820 both very similar hardware apart from LCD size, battery & camera, this phone is for my wife so what you guys advise, still weighing both phone features.

She is currently using sharp sh530u start to complain about internal storage full (2 partitions 2GB+ & 14GB+) & lags. The 1st partition (phone memory) full but the other just 50% & most apps can be moved to 2nd (internal memory) as well, some can't like Facebook, chrome & few others.
S920 a bit larger but look nice, tried before smooth, like I said storage is split into 2, the phone memory is too small unless root & combine with ext storage (>4GB), or else same problem surely re-occur. Anyway, my budget <1k that's why looking at Lenovo or else I would have bought others (Huawei P6, nexus 4 or S3).

Would have taken Xperia SP if the screen at least 4.7". Tested by wf she said too small.
So any of you guys rooted? There are guides for MTK6589 rooting (applicable to S920 also) & partition resizing. Not sure can use same method for p780.

New user reporting. Already set default storage to ext but apps installation still going to internal. Going to root soon, currently playing around if no problem, then only root.

Rooted my phone but after factory reset become unrooted. Using method as shared by Buya_92. Anyway re-root & using link2sd method, my phone storage increased according to my allocation. No more worries of storage full

Link2sd TutorialQUOTE(alucard89 @ Aug 30 2013, 09:16 AM) So a factory reset is all takes it to unroot then? What apps do you remove/move to sdcard to save space? Yup, just factory reset will unroot. Depends on your card & your requirement. To be safe at least 4GB combine with internal, roughly about 4.7GB but will not be shown in settings > storage. You can view the balance in link2sd storage info

After you installed link2sd, link it to the partition created (ext 2 / ext 4 / fat), then restart. Open link2sd again, use multi-select in settings, then select all & click action, in action menu, select create link, just press OK. It will move all selected apps to 2nd partition. Go to settings & select autolink , just tick on all the options. That's it, the next time you install any apps, it will automatically store in the 2nd partition. You will notice that even though many apps are installed, the internal memory still remain as though no new apps are added.

I think rooting & link2sd method should be pin-up in 1st post. Anyway 2nd week of using this phone (rooted & link2sd), so far so good. My only regret is transferring the ownership of the phone to my wife as I promised her. This post has been edited by RRR: Sep 12 2013, 10:21 PM

QUOTE(effort50 @ Sep 21 2013, 09:26 PM) i found out some forumers rooted their phones, and they managed to increase the internal memory. it intrigues me to do the same. i know we can always unroot it in case the phone need to be sent to the manufacturer for warranty. but i'm damn nervous to do so since i've never done that with my smartphone before. still thinking whether to do it or not (in case i am not able to unroot after rooting it)... btw, my main purpose of rooting is just to enhance its memory. should i just take the risk and root my phone? I purchased this phone only after I know it can be rooted. Root this phone mainly to increase the internal memory (link2sd method). After using 1 week, unrooted (factory reset). Then re-root again, before transferring to my wife this phones, till today she is using it without knowing I have rooted for her. Go ahead & root this phone, don't feel like it then just factory reset to default.
