A lot of factors that may affect the porting time. Prepaid easier, postpaid harder as your bill needs to be settled. But not to worry, you continue to use your existing line until your port is successful. You will be notified and you just need to change the SIM card when that happens.

what need to be confirmed is
1. maxis postpaid / prepaid, (postpaid must be single main line, no supp / main line attached, or port all lines together )
and outstanding cleared, no contract
prepaid must be active

2. postpaid/ prepaid also need to reply YES while maxis ask u whether confirm to port out or not
must use CAPITAL YES, Yes not applicable, if didn't receive sms from Maxis, call them and scold them, then ask umobile side submit again

3. once not able to call / sms (no signal) just switch the umobile card

my opinion based on salesman told me

3-5 working days..at least..
u still can use ur maxis line...while ur umobile in process

once they check ur maxis all ok..then they will inform u or ur maxis sim card cant be use
they already give u new umobile simcard once u register..
so try new umobile simcard then u can call/sms/internet already

salesman said...even though got outstanding..u can apply..
but u need to clear it within 2 mths...
so u still can change to umobile while paying maxis slowly...in 2 mths time

for the outstanding part, it depends, but normally 1-2 months outstanding they would reject it with reason BAD DEBT ACCOUNT

This month u28 over use the data plan. But last month left 1.7gb burnt.... Wish Umobile can offer like Celcom 38 aloe balance data plan to carry forward for u28

Basically Digi coverage in Penang is quite OK compared to UM.
There are places that UM is rather better than Digi.
It all depends where is your location.

only been penang for 3 times, 3 years ago after batu ferringi there 3g not well covered, no problem at george town and butterworth
