I want to ask forumers here on the feasibility of this idea.

Sign up P70 and get a member line, and use member line for data only.

Can I put the member line SIM into a MiFi router using it at home? I am clueless whether SIM for smartphone can be used in a MiFI router. Newbie here.

I hardly use more than 2GB per month on my smartphone. So, I am thinking of replacing my Unifi with the above setup.

Please advise. Thanks. smile.gif

From technical perspective, yes it is possible.

From usage perspective.... can your whole household actually survive on 5GB a month? Depends very much on what you do online, but each video you watch on youtube is maybe 100MB (depending resolution). So 1 GB is about 10 HD videos. Maybe you stream on some Jack Sparrow sites for movies? That'd be at least 700 or 800 MB there (for non HD).

Since you currently have Unifi, you should just ask them (no idea whether this works). Call them up, ask if they can tell you how much data you used in the past month. If they ask why, you can make up a story like "oh, my computer is pretty slow, a friend mentioned maybe got virus connecting to internet to slow things down" or something like that. They have very accurate numbers.

You could also try bandwidth usage monitoring programmes but in my experience they're quite inaccurate. Good for ballpark figures though.

My own opinion - don't do it. I myself use at least 6GB a month (without considering ANY youtube/video watching) on my laptop. At least. I don't pretend that I'm a very light user, so you may be able to get away with it, but....

Last time using U50 got 2GB Data, I use up to 2.5GB per months, then now using P50 got 5GB Data, then I use up to 5.5GB Data end of the month.

I wonder if I upgrade to 7GB Data, would I exceed again? sweat.gif

Edit: typo error.

You can look up Andrew's e-Store. I buy from them twice already. The boss very helpful last time I buy MiFi. Advised me some models to avoid because the sim card prone to jam.

How does the RAN sharing with maxis actually work? Does maxis give priority to their own customers over u mobile in 3G RAN sharing area?

how about short code ( from bank, credit card etc) , can receive on time with u mobile or got delay?

Thanks for your response. What brand & model MIFI which is compatible with U network would you suggest? Based on the coverage map, my area has 4G.

Sound cool with discount. Let me test it out first. smile.gif

Umobile started slowing down abt 2 mths ago. Since Aug it is nearly unusable between 10am-1pm and 8:30pm-12am. I've complained to Umobile, they called back to say that they are upgrading their system and speed will be better in 3-4 months time. I will cancel my account after this month and try a Hotlink prepaid account.

I'm a postpaid customer in the Old Klang Road area, using the Umobile ZTE MF65 mifi. If you really want to subscribe to Umobile try out their prepaid for a week first.
