Last but not least, please refer to any of your friends who are in your area and ask them of the coverage and speed before actually buying to prevent yourself from regretting afterwards  thumbup.gif
*
Or just buy prepaid sim and test out at your normal spots. It lasts 30 days with RM5 credit inside (cost RM8). Do speedtest at home, at work/school, etc. etc.

I did that for 2 weeks. Because not using it (just speedtesting and then browse to some websites to test the 'feel') it lasted me more than 2 weeks. RM5 credit is 100 MB on pay-per-use.

Same applies to any operator. What for ask ask when you can test?

Just to clarify ya, the RM8 calls to other operators is only calls to other networks (Maxis/Celcom/Digi). Calls to land lines NOT INCLUDED. So if you call back your kampung landline you pay RM0.20 per minute.

Also, obviously, calls to U-mobile not included.

@digilife is the right person to ask. Summoning him.

Most likely you'll need to port out to XOX or something and then port back in.

EDIT: poda... how to use the tag feature here leh.... nvm, just PM digilife

Hi Guys,

Want to ask, will I be able to use U28 data plan in Bali? any additional charges and do I need to activate anything?

Thanks!
*
Need pay them deposit RM300 for International Roaming (go google it on their website).

The usage charges damn expensive. Suggest not to use at all. Just pick up a call and you get charged a few bucks for nothing. Use data and get charged thousands of ringgit.

No need to separate, but both of the umobile accounts will be her name. U also not possible to change the account name. But in U will be two separate accounts (the sub plan in U is totally stupid and not worth it).

Better to split first if the name on the account is a problem to you. I didn't, so my wife and I both account is under my name now.

Of course, the difference between wife and gf is.... you can fill in the blank la =)

yeah, that is because postpaid users have to pay for the 6% service tax while prepaid users do not have to do so.
*
The 6% service tax is in addition to that la.... what you talking?

"It is in addition to that"(postpaid users = price of prepaid users + 6% service tax), I think that probably that you've misunderstood my wording in a way or two  icon_question.gif

QUOTE(prosibu @ Sep 27 2013, 06:27 PM)
Dude, you are right. Coz the prepaid charging is included 6% but not postpaid. Every postpaid plan has 6% charge extra for call and sms exclude pure data plan.

So, prepaid charge should be more expensive than postpaid charge as it includes tax
*
I think you're both confused.

Prepaid you pay RM0.18 per minute. That's it. Of course, effectively could be cheaper cos you can get 15% off reload etc. etc. but we ignore that.

Postpaid you get charged (not pay) RM0.20 per minute. AFTER that, you get taxed.

So if you make 5 minutes of call in the month, you get charged RM1. Then you get taxed. So you pay RM1.06.

Effectively, you GET CHARGED RM0.20 per minute but you PAY RM0.21.

As to why? Different market segment, treated differently. Postpaid sure pay more than prepaid, as digilife said, prepaid more benefit.

Of course, I'm primarily a data user and need overseas roaming so I don't mind using postpaid. Still cheaper than anything else except the lousy-coverage digi.

well, you can't say there's no relation to it at all though, since if there's service tax and the telco needs to absorb the tax then it means that they'll earn less for postpaid plans so in return they'll have to charge more in order to earn the same or even higher amount of profit as compared to the prepaid plans(but of course, the telco may give you other addon or benefits to make it more worthwhile)
*
You claim they absorb for prepaid meaning they'll earn less for postpaid? Do you read your post ah?

considering that the amount of subscribers are both the same, and the profit before tax is the same, then yeah. Since if the profit is the same for both plans before tax, and if the telco absorbed the 6% tax then the profit for postpaid will be less than prepaid per se.
*
You're not making sense. How does telco absorbing for prepaid make postpaid less profitable?

If profit before tax is same, then after absorbing 6% profit for prepaid will be less than that of postpaid.

Hi, I'm porting from maxis to umobile.

Do I need to separate the supplementary lines from the main line for it to be successful?

I keep getting failed porting SMS on all 3 numbers. I have 1 main, 2 supplementary.
*
Port altogether or separate and then port.

What fail? Did you not settle bill etc?

I'm porting altogether to umobile.

I just received sms that umobile is activated, but my phone still shows maxis line is active. I thought it will cut off my maxis line first? lol.

About the bill, isn't it when I switch to new sim card, it will pro-rata to the exact date I switched over in the next bill?
*
Normal advise is to not use the new one until the old line gets disconnected, to be safe.

Yeah, pro-rate.

Anyone ever made complaint to U-Mobile that the free minutes/sms to other U numbers are only used after UMI minutes?

----------------------------------------------------------

To whom it may concern,

I am a prepaid UMi user. One of the benefits I enjoy as a prepaid user is free calls/SMS to my family and friends who also use U-mobile which I receive when I reload. Another benefit is the minutes of free calls and free SMS given with the UMi plan.

Unfortunately, the way the UMi plan calls/SMS are calculated is disadvantageous to me as a consumer. The free SMS/calls I receive from the UMi plan are used up first, even when calling/SMSing a U-Mobile number.

The effect of this is to reduce/eliminate the benefit to me of having my friends and family also use U-Mobile. There is no practical difference between SMSing and calling U and non-U numbers unless I have used up all the free UMi minutes/SMS.

I would like to request that for calls and SMS to U-Mobile numbers, the free calls/SMS received from topping up be used first before the UMi minutes/SMS.

Hope you guys will stop complaining how U mobile deducts the free UMI calls.  U Mobile are running a business and they are entitled to set the rules.  If you don't like the plan or rules, you can always switch to another telco. However, as far as I know, there is no other major telco with prepaid option giving free minutes to all networks.
*
Complain here is worthless, but as consumer we got the right to communicate with U and tell them what we want.

Malaysian mentality of 'don't complain' is only valid for public forum where you're wasting everyone's time (like here), but if we take that to our rights as consumers then company just happy to take money and no need to improve service and offer.

I cut at Sunway center recently, no charge. Mine was cut to micro-sim though I think, the Note 2 one.
