well, comparing to the leak 4.2,

daydream is completely useless. first of all it require a dock to work. even if i do have a dock, activating it really serve no purpose. reduce the amoled screen lifespan only.

smart feature = battery drain

there really isnt no new LED light feature, there is not customization for LED light out of the box, need app for that

new setting layout doesnt serve any purpose, its an annoyance at first, but will get use to it very quickly.

status bar is exactly the same, no transparency. just add one extra button to go to quick toggles page.
there is option to adjust screen brightness even though in auto brightness mode.

isnt watching movie already full screen? there's no software button for s3.

one practical thing you didnt mention is lockscreen widget,
but ori leak doesnt allow swipe right to left for camera, need flash mod to do that.

camera UI remains exactly the same.

ya thats pretty much it.

Using any screensaver will totally kill your battery.

Do note that its the term screen on time means how long the screen can remain on during one single charge.

Under heavy use, screen on time probably 2-3 hours.

Under light use maybe 3-4 hours.

If you have very very light use maybe 4-5 hours. It's extremely rare to get more than 5 hours screen on time.
Unless extremely under locking and under volt, or use screen at extreme minimal brightness with wifi 3G everything off.



So....if you use a screen saver, where the screen is constantly on,
Expect your phone to be dead in less than 6 hours.

S4 is a great upgrade.

-lighter
-thinner
-bigger battery
-better screen, text are sharper than s3
-sensitive screen works with gloves
-able to detect hovering finger above screen
-more ram, able to cache more apps, less delay when reopen apps
-way better camera quality
-can work as TV remote

It's everything the s3 is and better. All the above points are hardware, no mod you can do on s3 to achieve those feature. Not to say s3 is bad, it's great. I rather take s3 than Sony xperia z or htc one due to sd card and removable battery. I just feel weird you say got review say s4 not a big upgrade. I mean come on, bigger screen in smaller lighter body with bigger battery is a big achievement already.

When does your data plan renew the quota?
Maybe you just start use s3 when quota almost over, new phone sync a lot of things.

I think no touch screen phone can survive in super tight jeans while sitting or squatting.

Their smoothness same only la.

Aokp have a lot feature that cm dun have, such as navbar customization, better led control, and much much more.
Cm have very few feature than aokp dun have, such as volume button control media volume, and lock screen hardware button remap.

Rootbox is everything aokp and cm have, with paranoid android feature.
Camera also more function with true view and smart capture.

Slimbean is combination of cm and aokp without paranoid android.
I prefer slimbean since I dun use pa feature. And like the way they organize their menu.
Slimbean have ugly boot animation and lock screen ring, but that can easily be changed.

its not the solution that i was expecting.
i was long hoping for a device that can plug to TV hdmi and directly mirror my phone screen wirelessly.
so that i can watch video, watch picture, play games, browse, and basically share EVERYTHING on my phone to everyone in the house. (good example is appleTV air play feature)

but what this chromecast does is, continue playback from your device by streaming the content from the web itself.
example watching youtube video, tap the button, video pause on your device, continue stream using the chromecast, chromecast downloads from your home internet.

if you're using normal 1Mbps internet, can forget about it working smoothly. also, it only able to stream media from selected service, like youtube, netflix, google music etc.

chromecast is just a much cheaper and functional nexus Q.

wow, i didnt know s3 got toolkit.

mskip is a great developer making unlocking/rooting toolkit for nexus device.
never thought he will support samsung non nexus phones.

i got this phone last month, i used odin to flash a cf root kernel to gain root.
then flashed cwm recovery using odin as well.

once i have cwm its instant highway to custom rom.

i just check, his thread posted june 11. i got mine june 6.
no wonder i missed it.


just my personal thoughts, i dont see the need to use that toolkit, its like 100+ MB in size, and requires install.

odin is just 400+kB, just run the .exe to use, no installation required.
cf root is 18MB
cwm recovery is 6MB.
it is practically faster to just use cf root method. actual flashing process less than 5 minutes.

actually there are some subtle changes in 4.2 that i notice is not present in 4.1

here's 2 that i find very convenient.

~recent app list. in 4.1, when you press recent app button, the current app you're actively in will not be displayed in the list at all. in 4.2, current app will be displayed at the bottom of recent app list. this is very convenient as you can just press recent app button, and swipe the one at the bottom to instantly close the current app. also, in 4.2 recent app, if you tap the side which is empty, you can go to your default launcher. kindda able to replace the home button if you have a faulty home button.

~notification shade, when its pull down, to close it, need to drag the bottom handle to close it. in 4.2, can drag anywhere in the shade and swipe up to close.

both example is true for touchwiz and aosp rom.
