Guys, need help....i need to turn my S3 into a wireless receiver/wifi dongle.

Here's the situation...just bought a new Desktop PC..

pc = doesnt have wireless card

Need to download softwares from the internet to install graphic drivers etc.

Internet = unifi streamyx..NO CABLE.

My phone can tether using USB cable, but no DATA plan at the moment.

So, i want to use my UNIFI wifi network, and connect it on my pc by using my S3 as a wifi dongle.

Can i change my S3 into a wireless receiver/dongle?

The two ROMs I was looking at last night were Slimbean and LiquidSmooth. Both looked decent, but I guess I'll try ProBam first now if what the poster I quoted above says is correct, and then Slimbean if it isn't.

a new s3 owner here,
a quick question, i used to own a s2 and successfully rooted the phone without tampering with the bootloader (the yellow sign).does any available program will do the same?

I think S3 is the most famous model among flagship galaxies. Even S4 not that 'hot'

i hav used s3 for a few months n notice that sometimes the color of the screen appear washed out n not saturated like normal amoled screen.. it back to normal after i turn the screen off n on again... is there any problem with the screen? anybody encounter this b4?

oh.. so this is considered normal for s3? 

S2 is 2-3yrs ago phone.... and with the pathetic 512mb ram if not mistaken , 4.1.2 is too much to let it handle alredi...LOL

Got a notification that there an official update available this morning...downloaded..installed..and behold!

Stuck at boot screen with the Samsung logo! 2nd time this has happened. First time it was faulty motherboard (according to Samsung service centre) so claimed warranty but now the warranty has ended. Sigh.

FYI, this phone was never rooted or flashed with custom firmware.

Hi Guys,

This morning at 730 am i was prompted to download the new firmware by my phone so I downloaded it using my data (3G). Never once did the download got interrupted or shown any issues. After installation, the phone hand at the Samsung logo and wont load.

At 11am, I sent it to the Lowyat Samsung Service Center.
First, the guy at the number ticket counter told me that me its known issue that download update over wifi/3g is unstable and can cause issues so we must use KIES. No one ever told me that as all my previous updates were done via wifi/3G. Got a feeling that if I told him I updated over KIES, he would have told me the opposite. I didn't want to waste my time talking to him.

When my number was called, I explained to the CS lady again. She was more friendly and told me that they will try to flash it but no guarantees. She said its known the new firmware is unstable (unstable official firmware, great!). If they can't flash within an hour then it could be hardware issue. As my phone is no longer under warranty, I will have to pay.

Now patiently waiting for 12pm.

Back in February, I had a similar issue and they had to change the motherboard but it was FOC due to still having warranty.

But why do I have to pay for Samsung's own mistake?

actually my previous reply sparked my curiosity and i did some google search.

so simple and easy to do. basically copy the said system apk to pc, replace 2 files inside,
then send back to the phone. reboot and profit.

i choose a very nice looking nexus ring. very satisfied with it. :-)

go check the thread, inside the first post got many links to other lock ring also.

and how about the camera? back and front? any bugs?

anyone uses slimbean here? Seems some of their website's link is broken? like their gapps and addons
