samsung, based on my opinion,

good:
~unlocked bootloader
~mainstream, easy root and more custom rom
~mainstream, easy to buy accesories
~removable batter, micro sd slot

but it does have some serious cons too.

bad:
~amoled screen, make me paranoid keep using dark wallpaper, and uneasy feeling when screen is displaying white
~although the screen is super nice, amoled screen have burn in issue, its inevitable :-(
~"time bomb" inside phone, s3 has sds issue, s2 have internal battery leak issue. no idea note 1 and 2 have similar issue or not.
~exynos close source, wont be getting stable aosp rom, and hdmi wont ever work


among all the brands, this brand is the one that suck less, so i'm currently using it, and doubt i'll move to other brand unless they really come up with something awesome.

on and off got people come in with these kind of questions.
and the answer is yes.

leak rom is just official rom that is waiting for paper work to be official release.

Very obvious is Sony la.
Sony stupid flagship made of glass. Once crack, 1k to fix front glass and 300 to fix back panel.
Total cost might as well buy a brand new s3 or nexus 4.

This slim bean, I look through their website,
It's basically a cm10.1 rom.
Add the dark aokp feature from aokp for black theme.

Other than that looks same like cm only?
Well have to wait till weekend to try it.

But in all honesty, I feel s3 is very zippy and fast even in touch wiz rom or aosp rom.
Maybe that's because I came from s2.

why not? isn't it stock samsung rom? should have sbeam

hei guys, those that using any variant of the leak 4.2.2 samsung touch wiz rom,

when you check on battery usage,
does the screen on bar match with the awake bar?

i was using aosp rom before, and its a known issue.
but i was surprised to see this on somax and wanamlite rom too.
so this bug exist on leak rom too?

another issue i encounter in 4.2.2 leak is the nfc toggle.
it doesnt toggle when i tap it.

need to long press it, then it bring me to nfc settings, then only i can toggle it

:-( is this common issue as well?

Can you guys please help me verify it? I want to know wether it's known bug or my device having issue.

Just go settings check battery usage.
And try to toggle the nfc toggle.

Finally! Volume skip track mod for 4.2!

My battery report not tally one. So weird.
Quite often the screen on but report say the phone asleep. In xda people tell me is kernel issue. Typical aosp rom issue.

But since yours is ok, then I think is sotmax rom problem.

My nfc toggle sometimes work sometimes dun work also. So annoying.

you must be joking.

any china phone, those ninetology ones, from their lowest to highest end ones,
all are ridiculously slow even compared to a dual core like s2.

those chiplak china phones mostly still runs ics,
on a cm9 modified rom. i dont see how any dual core china phone can be faster than s3.

i think your s3 got problem. genuine s3 or not?

i came from a s2, its noticeably faster than s1, and the s3 is noticeably faster than s2.
if your s3 is slower than s1, then something is very very wrong.

this is weird, on sotmax rom,

found more and more bugs. duno apply to all leak or not.

the stock gallery, and google's gallery, when i press menu and check for pic detail, the gallery app will force close. only for pictures in camera folder. other folders can check details just fine.

by the way, sotmax announce in his xda thread his phone spoil already.
something about micro sd card malfunction and damage his mother board.
so no more sotmax rom already.

aosp rom wont have wifi direct built in.
need use app superbeam. once both phone have this app then can send files via wifi direct

camera app crash sure will happen eventually. but quite rarely.
there is an app to instant restart camera without rebooting.

default camera app in aosp cannot snap photo while video,
but once you flash 4.2 camera app, that one can snap while video, but the video quality have low frame rate.

mention wifi direct time after time before...but duno why its not catching up.
its way more useful than bluetooth.

lets say in file manager, got a file you wana send,
instead of share via buletooth, choose share via wifi direct.
it will bring to wifi direct screen and search for device. (similar to bluetooth)

receipient phone go setting, wifi, wifidirect, then wait in that screen. (kindda turn on wifi direct)
on sender phone, will detect the receipient phone name. tap it.
receipient phone will have pop up, tap accept
(whole pairing takes less than 15 seconds)

wuala! transfer begins with speed between 2-4MBps. (depends on distance)
just for comparison bluetooth speed is about (200kBps only)

oh did i mention wifi direct support multiple file transfer too? haha

this is the app to restart camera in aosp rom.
this app take 1 second to restore the camera app to working mode.
no need to reboot the phone which takes up to 1 minute.

MUST HAVE for aosp roms.

lucky you. i'm having bad luck with many roms.

i like aosp roms, but every one that i tried (cm,aokp,rootbox)
have wrong battery stats reporting, bad batter drain (by android OS, it gets higher than screen most of the time)
and worst of all the camera crashes occationally, even with the camera fix, its still an annoyance.

i tried some leak 4.2 touchwiz roms,
having bugs too. same battery stats error, but at least the battery life is good.
but nfc toggle not working, and now a new bug which is cant check camera picture details.
images snapped by camera (any camera app), when view by any gallery app, it will force close when checking picture details.

why la got weird bugs....
i just want good rom, only tweak i need is volume skip track mod.
now downloading neat rom. samsung rom so big in size, some even 1.4GB
