by default it's not there. you need to add it manually. just goto the details tab in task manager and right click on any column names to bring up the select columns menu.

Source? hmm.gif

BTW SSD lifespan is pretty irrelevant to most users unless if your workload involves a lot of I/O operations... icon_idea.gif

http://techreport.com/review/26523/the-ssd...to-a-petabyte/5

Note that this test involves writing half a petabyte (500TB) of data into the drive... icon_idea.gif
*
nah the problem now is, writes are still being made despite on idle state

i just reopen Chrome to check forum and already its performing so much writes to my SSD

as mentioned previously, my SSD of <6 months have already written 3.8TB of writes

quite alot, considering i dont even do real work on SSD

There's nothing to worry about, even if you manage to write 500TB of data, I doubt you'll be keeping the drive at that time... laugh.gif

BTW, you can do this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/16...t_drive/c7yhh8r
*
yeah the lifespan is definite long enough, but it still gave me second thoughts

nah, ill use the other way

close Chrome when PC idling laugh.gif

for chrome, now i remember i did 2 things to it. other than junction trick, i also turn background apps in chrome off. chrome apps run even if the web browser is closed. the option is in advanced settings, under system section.
*
i turned this off ages back, but it still writes hmm.gif

maybe they use incompressible data for the test. (a disadvantage of sandforce drive) however for common usage, i don't think it affects you much.
*
i tried the test, same results as per the user benchy sweat.gif

like you said, i dont see any difference for my normal usage

only in benchy is where it says its bad

oh. it's very likely they use incompressible data in the tests.

out of curiosity i have tried mine also. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/63944

something is not right. my desktop is a ufo that is 666% faster than the rest?!
*
wont this theoretically mean Macs are UFO too?

since they using faster PCIE based SSD laugh.gif

I just bought new Intel 530 SSD (240gb).. my problem is the SSD boots fast but slow logging into Windows? (the time you type in your password) anyone know whats going on?
*
same here, but the 'slow logging' doesnt affect me much

since when i reach to my desktop, all apps just load instantly for me to bother with that hmm.gif

uh? you are having the same problem too? are you using w7?

i wonder why no one reported about this issue before.
*
Windows 8.1 here

didnt report it since it doesnt bother me that much (or maybe i dont shut down often to notice laugh.gif)

assuming my issue is similar like above, where reach login page fast but after typing password/pin, its takes several seconds to head into desktop

mine takes abt 2-3 spins (Windows 8 circle spinning thingy)

not that troublesome really

oh. from what i have read, there was a firmware released to solve this previously. still, there are some people who reported that the firmware didn't solve the issue.

what if you disable login page? (using netplwiz)

with ssd optimizations, the initial fast boot thing is usually disabled. in my case it takes 2-3 spins for w8.x to reach desktop too.
*
im on latest firmware afaik, need to check Intel SSD Toolbox later

nah i need my PC to be password protected ph34r.gif

2-3 spin isnt long anyway

oh ok smile.gif haha it's just a test to see if you can go into the desktop instantly (by instantly, i mean there is still a 1-second black screen in my machine)

you're right. i am dealing with that 2-3 spins every time i restart my machines. it's more than fine to me lol!
*
feels sad man, SSD life already down so much cry.gif

oh ok haha

i guess the high pitch noise doesn't affect the drive's performance. the plastic case, well, let's see if the temperature is good enough. for general use i guess it should be fine. normally manufacturers use metal case to serve as heat spreader. thermal pads are placed between chips and metal case for that purpose. (not all have pads, so i guess it's not really a big deal)

although the price is that of a value drive, it's tagged as premium by transcend. its endurance rating (tbw) is kind of crazy. (http://www.legitreviews.com/transcend-ssd370-128gb-sata-6gbs-ssd-review_150465/9)

1TB version have 1000+TB endurance shocking.gif

hello guys, i wanna know is it true that for crucial m500 every drive from 120GB-960GB only has a 72TB write life time? regardless of the capacity size?

i saw one user complain from another forum about the write life time, which should scale with capacity.
*
urm that is the estimated write life during warranty period (3 years)

it can write more than that

modern consumer SSDs have breached 1 petabyte write limit already sweat.gif

alright thanks for clearing it up smile.gif

i'm going to get the 240gb variant at under rm400. is it a good drive?
*
its not the fastest, nor the most longest lasting SSD, but it works superb for its intended purpose smile.gif

Wondering why Samsung as a big chip manufacturer themselves still playing with TLC instead of MLC or even SLC... sweat.gif

My point is that do MLC/SLC really much pricier than TLC even Samsung manufacture the chips themselves?
*
shhh its business point of view rolleyes.gif

why would they sell you something that can last long, when they can sell you something that couldnt?

capitalism ho!

yes i agree that it's about business. however, 850 evo is now said to have 2k p/e, with 5-year warranty. i believe there are still rooms for improvements.
*
3D NAND is doing good there biggrin.gif

but im still not convinced of it being TLC
