SATA is now a common standard with all modern motherboards. Even cheaper Intel H61 boards around RM1xx is also SATA capable, but they're only SATA 2 capable.

However, to fully utilize the SATA 3 capability of most modern SSDs, you're advised to at least go with boards which is also SATA 3 capable. Most B75/85 boards have SATA 3 ports.

benchmark for my ssd: Plextor M5 pro FW:1.05

beat my OCZ vertex 4 to dust lol..

ps: this is a fresh OS install without any optimization from the first page yet.. will post more if got some improvement after optimization

update:

after following optimization guide from the first page and update intel RST driver and chipset generally got overall improvements noticeably on 4k write performance and seek time has been reduce a bit.
but sequential read drop almost 40mb/s rclxub.gif

For normal user, 60gb is enough.. And the speed are noticable.. But nowaday, 120gb is minimum.. just my two cent..

My plextor M5S 256gig hit around 900-1000 marks.. very satisfied.. good enough for me..
