benchmark for my ssd: Plextor M5 pro FW:1.05
beat my OCZ vertex 4 to dust lol.. ps: this is a fresh OS install without any optimization from the first page yet.. will post more if got some improvement after optimization update: after following optimization guide from the first page and update intel RST driver and chipset generally got overall improvements noticeably on 4k write performance and seek time has been reduce a bit. but sequential read drop almost 40mb/s This post has been edited by kayFX: Sep 28 2013, 08:03 AM |

QUOTE(activexxx @ Oct 3 2013, 09:29 PM) May i know what is the best ssd in terms of brand and speed for virtualization usage? I have a laptop running with 12GB Ram and was wondering if ssd can assist my virtual image to run faster. Thx. there is significant speed boost using ssd when trying to execute programs compare to traditional hdd.. so upgrading from hdd to ssd is the best thing ever happen to me in my computer hardware experience.. hope this help.. it doesn't matter what brand but ppl been recommending plextor for best value and faster speed too.. if comparing ssd to ssd yes have to be selective which is faster than which but first time upgrade gonna bring smile.. only disadvantage of ssd is small capacity.. higher capacity gonna cost a hole in the bank.. if you considering an upgrade from hdd to ssd just go for it.. for capacity can use hdd as external.. program, windows just put in ssd.. it a good investment.. |

QUOTE(Anonymous34 @ Oct 14 2013, 11:55 PM) Today I just upgraded to a "new" that comes with custom cooler which covers all the sata ports. I have to remove one of the fans to access to sata port. u upgrade to a "new" what? so basically now I'm forced to use pcie x1 extender and a sata 3.0 pcie x1 card. Do you guys have any brands to recommend me? Prefably 4 ports but 3 is minimum. |

QUOTE(iJoel @ Oct 21 2013, 11:16 PM) Plan to get Samsung 840 evo 250GB soon, but there are a few things that I would like to get opinions on: overall performance will straight away noticeable.. sata 2 will limit full performance of sata 3 SSD but still far better than HDD.. for lightroom im not sure if it will boost performance or not but im using photoshop a lot and do big file picture editing so far the performance is far better than using HDD.. 1. My laptop is a 3 year old UL30VT which has CULV SU7300 1.7Ghz on it, will the CPU limit the performance of the ssd? 2. The board has only SATA2 on it, again it will not be maximising the SSD's potential but after a few search it says on normal usage this will not be very noticeable. 3. I'm a light user of my laptop, the only heavy duty stuff I'd do is only running Lightroom 4. Will a SSD boost the performance other than launching speed? |
