Hello all, Savvy AMT is like Alfa Romeo's Selespeed or Q-System right ? hm.. maybe it totally differrent things? as my Si Fu told me so. anyway i am going get a small car, KIA, Naza - totally in my black list. Honda Toyota and european car still cannot afford~  so so ~ only left Proton Savvy, My VI and Viva in my mind. Now i am kind of thinking of buy Savvy, any other cars recommendation ?? recent day i do read a lot of article about bad and good of Malaysian Cars.  Some more question need to ask you all, Is Savvy really that taugh ?? as i didnt test on satria neo, hm..welll still the same. another thing is the spare part wise, really easy to get ?? will that be very very pricey ??  thanks for view and answer my answer !!
*
Stay away from AMT. I've browsed savoc.net and got the shock of my life coz there's 2 critical component related to the AMT cost RM8k and RM13k respectively.....one guy there has his broken, luckily still under warranty..sweat.gif

http://www.savoc.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=865
Look at item 1 and 25.

But the price above i believe is old price and now it should be cheaper after Proton announce the Savvy parts price reduction exercise. But max drop is 30%, so u just do an estimate calculation.

I think the other parts are not so expensive, so far as i can see. So go for manual if buying Savvy.

As for which car to choose, it's up to ur needs. If u need the space, MYVI is the answer. If you want a fun ride with good handling, then it's Savvy. If u can afford Myvi, then pleez just forget about VIVA. It's not worth it.

Ha..ha...new Gen2 Sedan@Persona fc is almost same as Gen2...

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/492630/+420

At least i dun have to worry about making a wrong choice with the Savvy...rclxms.gif...BLM 1.3 is still 6 months away...but i can't wait that long....will the BLM be based on Savvy platform??

I suspect the BLM 1.3 will go for around 40k...then Savvy drop price again....Ah well, on the bright side, it'll still look fuglier than a Savvy!

Hopefully can get my Savvy end of this week...

What do you need friend?

Do you want a low FC car? Spacious? Good handling? Budget? Carry a family or just drive single most of the time?

as for now bro. fc lo cos travelling from w.maju to putrajaya. asked proton dealer around celcom hq area the lowest i got so far 387 permonth for lite
*
If FC, then Savvy is a good choice, VIVA also has good FC according to a few feedback around the net. I think both of these cars can do easily 15km/l for city driving. Highway could be more. Myvi 1.3 is slightly lower at 13 - 14km/l for city driving.

But if ur concern about 2nd hand value, then Savvy probably isn't such a good idea.

Why don't u test drive all the cars first and then see which one u like and then decide again. smile.gif

For normal drive use. i would prefer savvy rather than myvi. I found it more economical and i need to pay only about rm350 per month as i need to maintain 2 cars in hand rite now. The one that i've been using now is on its way to garage to implant new engine and kenari was given to my lil sis cause she got 9a for her spm.
*
The Savvy is good choice for 2nd or 3rd car as you don't have to worry about space since you have other cars to take care of that.

Do u plan for Savvy Lite or STD? I think promotion for discount is still on. Difference between the 2 is about RM3K+ after discount.

Anyway, i would suggest you drop by at savoc.net to get more info about savvy...tons of info there...including all the known problems so that u are prepared for it. sweat.gif

Good thing about Savvy is the maintenance is every 10,000km. Parts could be a bit more expensive than a SAGA i suppose, but recently there was a drop in price on the parts and generally cheaper to maintain now, although certain critical parts related to the engine and gearbox is still from France.

Savvy owners:

What kinda engine oil do u use for ur Savvy? Mineral, Semi or Full synth? Can minerail oil tahan the 10,000km service interval ah? Seems like stretching it quite far....hmmm...

One question! Savvy Lite seems like dont have air bag and ABS system, do you think i can install it myself or i can request with from the dealer like add airbag for me add 200bucks ~ something like that??? the sound system, ok or not ?? 2 speakers only ?? i expect 8 le~~ hehe~~
*
Airbag do not come in 3 digits. There's no way you can install ABS yourself, AFAIK. Even if you can, is it safe or even worst without ABS?? There are things better left to the factories.

Just don't speed, keep a driving distance, defensive driving and you'll be much safer than a lunatic driving with 10 airbags and ABS but speeding at 200km/h.

thanks for the advice bro. Ah i will only pick that lite as it's for travelling only. seems nowdays it's very dangerous riding a bike not as long time ago. Hope savvy will be the last savior i have
*
Yep, yep, motorbike is dangerous. I'll take Savvy Lite over Viva 850 anyday. (same price range).

But you'll probably need to add the alarm....which will cost you maybe RM500 for a good one. Otherwise, it'll be taking candy from a baby stealing a Savvy Lite...at least some sort of defence is better than no defence.

Come to think of it...i wonder if i should take the Savvy Lite instead...hmmm...

i checked with my friend, who is a proton dealer, and he confirmed with me that the savvy lite does include ABS and airbags. weird??
*
No way dude. Either he's pulling your leg or super blur. If savvy lite got airbags and ABS who the hell will buy HL version?

Savvy lite is bare naked...rims cover and alarm pun tadak, so u think got ABS and airbag meh!

If he insist it does, please show me the specs/quotation and I'll complain like hell to the local media if ABS and airbag is included in Lite version!! (for ripping off non-lite customers.).

*
You'll need to go to a showroom/dealer to get the details. They've the comparison between lite and std, and std and HL.

Basically, HL has ABS and airbags. The rest doesn't.

it''ll be based on Savvy platform, and will replace Saga/Iswara lineup.

*
I don't get it. Based on Savvy Platform?? But the engine will be 1.3 Campro...or is it the chassis similar?

But from spyshots, it really doesn't looks like a Savvy.(or maybe spyshot too blur?)

Also, if it's based on Campro, how can it be similar platform? rclxub.gif

i mean...it's not that it looks like a Savvy, but the platform is kinda similar. that's what an insider told me.
*
But Savvy is DF4 Renault...unless new BLM also Renault?? (very unlikely). I just don't understand where the similarities is. No offence, i'm just curious, that's all.

BLM 1.3?? wat is that? new product from which company?
*
BLM is the new base line model to replace SAGA and Wira next year January.

It should be a 1.3 engine Campro engine and will be the main bread and butter car for Proton like SAGA now.

BLM~~ Cool~~ Finally a more than 10years old car is stop produce. Pronton finally going going to replace a new design~ i hope they can create better perfomance and also tough tough product !! <p> a~ one more question about Savvy, do you think i need to install a allow steel at my front and rear bumper, like an extra protection ?? anybody here saw any Savvy did that ?? i believe it heavier the car weight only.
*
What for?? Waste money only....SAvvy is tough enough already mah...(according to Proton..sweat.gif)

Anyway, Savvy is quite heavy already at around 950kg...almost similar weight like a Myvi.

btw, SAGA is 22 years old. Wira is around 15 years old.

Ha, finally Lunch time i went to Proton showroom with my collegue. Subang SS14 one. Touch and feel tat Savvy already and understand that the car interior is almost the same as Satria ! haha~ expected quality, still consider ok ! and there is 3 line of car can choose H-Line,M-Line & L-Line.
High-Line has B-Line Model Minus Power Window, Alarm, Alloy Rim, Reverse Sensor, Fog Lamp, Immobilizer, Abs & Air Bag

Midium-Line same as above but no Air Bag, Abs, Immobilizer & Alarm

Lite-Line(I call is Lousy-Line or Low-Line) has none of the High-Line things.

Get Lite-Line can install anything that you desire like Alpine Soundsystem, Best Alarm system like BMW, get F1 range ABS, get F1 range rims and sprint abosorber, and custom make body kits. and 2 more big big sport light~ OK think too much. if like this better go to buy MINI man~~

Alright now need to ask about the spare part, still very worry about this as if i buy the car i need to drive it for 5-10years and if 5-10 years later the spare part is hardly find and cost same like BMW5 series then its not worth as well. Do you know exactly, is Savvy consider a very good selling car ?? do they sell around 10K units ??
*
Ahemm...Ahemmm...

The Savvy is the 18th BEST SELLING CAR OF THE YEAR AS AT JUNE 2007.

There. rclxms.gif

Is the bottle half empty or half full?? smile.gif

I believe they should have >10k units OTR from the info from different salesman. But whether can trust or not i dunno ler..

The most expensive part is the AMT robot...so i advised you not to get the AMT version. Other parts are still reasonable. The recent price drop on parts is also very encouraging. A common problem with Savvy is the ignition coil which used to cost > RM700. Now it's only about RM360.

You can check out more info at savoc.net. Those guys knows everything about Savvy.

From what i can see, the parts are cheaper than my old Kia Sephia....i'll never buy Korean cars again!!!! Damn Kimchis!!!!!

Cool! I haven't made my final decision, as for me Savvy sure is in my consideration, and now i will go to for 2ndhand savvy !! wish i can get a valuable and god condition one.  Consider about the size of the car, I am also thinking of MyVi, as i body figure is big big lo~ 176cm.and for sure that is i use savvy to fetch my  cousin who is bigger size then me~ we are going to shake the savvy left and right man~~ ROLLING THE SAVVY ~
*
Acutally, Savvy is very steady...feels like driving big car...i'm about same height as you...this is not kancil ler friend, you can't shake a Savvy so easily.

The front seats are ok, but if you wanna fit 4 people of same height like you inside....then the two fellas behind will suffer lor. (Btw, i don't think this car is a 5 seater. Max 4 adults inside...if small sized ladies/kids maybe can squeeze 3 behind ler....but only for short journeys or really gonna suffer).

Both Myvi and Savvy are about same weight despite the size difference. (950kg - Savvy, Myvi - 9xxkg).

Hypermount: You're gonna change to full synthetic? I thought there's a thread in savoc.net saying not recommended to use full-synth for savvy?

I haven't decide what oil to use for Savvy yet...if use Mach 5, i'm also scared it can't last 10,000km...maybe semi-synth will be safer bet?

btw, chassis number indicates the # of cars produced? So 77xx, means there's 77xx cars already produced? Then i must check mine and see....smile.gif

Actually Savvy is not all bad... I just don't like the look from outside. Proton should really take consumer cosmetic consideration first cause it is the consumer who gonna buy the car, not them. My friend drive savvy, and yup it's nice. Just outside is.... hehehe! tongue.gif But again, never judge a book by its cover, right guys?? ^__^ When can we see savvy and perodua make a gathering together as in Malaysia One team~!
*
Actually, i like the Savvy design (not because i'd bought one already...)...but the rear was ugly. So the new version got the V thing removed from the rear. Now it's much better. thumbup.gif

But i want VolksWagon logo...not thundercat logo...
