No i cannot live with 14 inch. HAHA. How about connecting it to a 18.5/19 inch monitor? Theoretically 14.1 inch is cheaper than 15.6 inch, so i'll bump a bit for a 2nd hand monitor. Will the graphics handle it ?
*
Of course you could connect to external display through VGA/Display Port/HDMI (just make sure you have the same port at both the laptop and the external display or you'll have to deal with adapter).
For normal usage, those GPU is more than capable. For gaming, depends on game titles. Going higher resolution mean more pixel to handle, you may have to turn down details level to compensate so that games stay in playable fps.

Do ask them if they are giving you another 2G stick or replace the 2G stick with a 4G stick. Impact future upgradability since laptop normally only has 2 RAM slots.

I think they usually place another 2G stick. Since my bro told me they just slotted something inside. But can't complain about freebies huh?

What is "good resolution"? hmm.gif With your budget, you will only get HD screen (1366x768).
15" with your budget should be enough for "online, movie, browsing".
Editing picture, well, depends on your file size and what kind of job you do.

lenovo z400 vs asus k46..which 1 better ?
if i would like to buy a laptop with better battery life and the price is less than 2.2k..any suggestions ?
*
Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty
K46CB-WX060H, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 750GB, W8, 4-cell, OD

Z400 - more powerful CPU, also draw more power, less battery running time.
K46CB - more frugal CPU.

For your requirement of better battery running time, go with the K46CB among the two.

Come and ask again in 1 month time. Haswell is coming to town, and spec is expected to be refreshed soon smile.gif
If she like "not too heavy", stay with 14" for her budget (unless she really need the dedicated numpad found in 15" for her study)

According to news from VRzone

QUOTE
The following mobile Haswell processors will be launched on September 1: Celeron 2950M, 2955U, 2980U, Pentium 3550M, 3556U, 3560Y, Core i3-4000M, i3-4005U, i3-4012Y, i3-4020Y, i3-4100M, Core i5-4200H, i5-4200M, i5-4202Y, i5-4210Y, i5-4300M, i5-4300U, i5-4300Y, i5-4302Y, i5-4330M, Core i7-4600M, i7-4600U, i7-4610Y, and i7-4960HQ. Some features of these processors can be guessed from the processor number's suffix. For instance, "M" microprocessors target mainstream notebooks. They usually have GT2 graphics, 35 watt TDP, and they are produced in a PGA package. "H" parts are similar to "M" processors, except that they have GT3 graphics unit. "U" ultra-low power SoCs are rated at 15 or 28 Watt, while "Y" ULV SoCs have even lower 11.5 Watt TDP. Lastly, the "HQ" is a high-performance SKU with 4 CPUs cores, HD 5000 series graphics, and higher, than mainstream, TDP.
