i sure you studied a lot via internet...
graphics card as powerful as possible.... and i advice you to go check out the laptop in person, feel the keyboard, screen, built quality, ports placement, ventilation hole positions, overall feeling etc, see which one more suits you.... rather just focusing on specs only... others factors is equally important also and it only can be judged by yourself...

Yeah thanks, well i know little things about the specs..but... what i want to know if for the sifu's experiences...

well i've gone to lowyat several times already,... had to touch everything,,,... the real lappy that caught my attention is the alienware on dell stall at Gfloor.... but reviewing the specs of the other laptops... its kinda like,,,if its not the same...its nearly identical to the other laptops... so? If ill buy alienware...with same specs or nearly thesame specs to other cheaper laptops...it would be like a waste of money right...?

well... what i really like to know is how's these laptops in the long run.... or what is the best in terms of gaming performance...?
What is the most durable one...? Coz i really want to spend money but i dont want to waste it... hope you guys get it... Thanks for the reply and thanks in advance for the upcoming responds... smile.gif

durable or not... depends on...

External
1. keyboard
2. hinges
3. screen
3. material (plastic, PE, aluminium, carbon etc...)

Internal
1. ventilation design
2. QC
3. Warranty services

Misc
1. Brand reputation
2. Luck

Externally you can judge by yourself with eyes and look at demo unit before buying, To look internally, sadly pc laptop does not get enough coverage at ifixit, if the pc you buying got ifixit teardown treatment you can basically judge how the internal design is all about...

example
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Another good source is notebookcheck
Y510P
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
link

Alienware 14
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
link

GE60
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
link

if looking internally you can see how much effort they put in when they designing the laptop, outer part can always to fool people, but inner part cannot...

the internal design failure i cannot tolerate is
1. any cellophane tape, temporary tape holding the wiring/cable inside..
2. bad design ventilation (gaming notebook)

some points that matters be can be tolerated
1. a lot free space inside
2. weird vent hole (especially at right hand side, venthole = heat = mouse = fainted, be ware sometime at left hand side venting is very annoying also)

internal design that adds points
1. proper internal arrangement (*expensive laptops like macbook pro with retina display)
2. good quality fan
3. extra details to reduce heat (e.g. aluminium bottom body > plastic)
4. easy maintenance

Unfortunately your budget is not enough for SSD upgrades at this time. But no worries, you can always upgrade later when you have the budget by replacing the HDD.
Can consider these:
15.6"
Acer V3-571G-736b8G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT730M(DDR3) + (1920x1080 IPS) @RM2899[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8

Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3099[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB, backlit keyboard optional, W8

MSI GP60-2OD, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT740M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2999, 4GB, 750GB, W8, steel series KB

I thought CAD also requires good CPU (not usually available in ultrabooks) and RAM too? hmm.gif
Still, I think this one will fit just nice as a performance machine. In fact, its pretty much the only one at its class laugh.gif

I think you already know what to look for in specific haha:
15.6"
Lenovo
Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3099[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs
Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3999[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, GN37 exGPU & ODD, 120w+170w psu, 2 yrs

There's no real need to get the RM3999 version as I don't think most editing softwares will support SLI configurations.
Just stick to the 1st option, and upgrade RAM to 16GB, and throw a 256GB SSD in brows.gif

doesn't matter.
SSD is actually capped by SATA bandwidth.
All SATA port and drive are backward compatible.
chuck any SSD to replace the HDD in the K46Cm, install OS and apps on the SSD, and the laptop will become much much more responsive.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Okay if CAD is not really required? I was using an Inspiron 14z and it performed admirably for MATLAB and some light games.

Now I'm looking for something similar as well!

Thank you!
