Hi guys,

I have been offered a job opportunity as entry level engineer in one of major shipyard company. I want to ask if i want to expand my career growth toward oil ans gas industry is this going to be a good start? Or should i seek for a better option? Btw im a fresh grad in mechanical engineering
*
It is a good place to start. I am going to that direction as well but my company does both offshore and marine as well.

What's with FE vs FS? You think you're too good to become just FS when you know the minimum requirement is diploma? Wah wah wah.......
*
It is true that one person is not better than the other for having a Degree. FS do make alot at the end of the day compared to FE. But it will also mean the Degree he obtained has no value and that sucks.. On the other hand, if he would have said he wants to stay in field as long as possible, they might have given him FS just coz of that

hi, may i know is it possible to switch from downstream to upstream and vice versa? thanks
*
yes, few of my friends from downstream later switch to upstream, join Carigali HESS, Conoco etc. and some of them from upstream also switch to downstream (due to personal reason, eventhough upstream pay higher)...

Petronas hire a lot for downstream, preparation for Pengerang...sum more, depend on your experience etc. if you can perform well during interview...no issue into getting upstream or downstream...

hye.. actly how to answer an interview questions about our private life? for example "do you have a girlfriend?".. some ong company always ask their single status candidate.. do they just want to test our commitment toward offshore/field works? or maybe there are some other reasons??

tq in advance =)

because certain niche certificates/skills/experience are interchangeable down and up when the demand is there.

is geology a niche applicable to downstream positions ? cuz i had no luck for upstream in almost all of the "appliable" O&G companies with
subsurface services. biggrin.gif
