any thoughts on furthering my engineering career as a project engineer or discipline (technical) engineer? currently accepted a graduate program offer from technip uk in subsea division. was wondering if i should expand my technical side instead of jumping into project/management division too early...anyone offer to shed a light on this matter perhaps?

Yes Computer Engineering still can join Oil&Gas. I have few friend who doing freelance work involve in data recording, inspection etc. Join O&G contractor who deal with survey, seismic like Kreuz, Swiber, Orogenic, Fugro etc

You guys really use Linked-in?
I thought it was just a career social website that kept spamming everyone to join.

SPAM from Linked-In is normal, but a lot and I mean a lot of headhunters are in Linkedin and use it extensively to find candidates. I get calls from headhunters and inviation to connect every week and my new opportunity is from a headhunter I connected in Linkedin.

Jet-lag lah ... just got back from taking the family for a short vacation in London .... British summer is cold (14C when I arrived .... what kind of summer is that .... got better at the end though).

That's a loaded question because ME can go almost to any sector in O&G except the subsurface sector that is. Facilities & Design, Operations, Fabrications etc etc ...

Both of you... don't expect people to spoon-fed.. Please refer to previous thread V3 or V4 and get the information from there.. Not sure what is Surveying Sc course is all about so can't advise much, can advise if similar to Quantity Survey (QS). As for Civil, subject static, solid mechanic, structural are in your course, so you can venture to structural engineering..

As for conclusion, if you are fresh graduate with flying colour result + good SPM result.. chance to enter oil & gas as graduate trainee or junior is high.. if not, you need to join oil & gas/Sub-con, gain your knowledge and experience, before join big player..
