I went to the Japan Embassy last month, they said for non embedded chip passport still need visa but they don't need company letter etc. Just prepare your flight ticket, itinerary, hotel booking. Just give them a call to double chk.

QUOTE(LaiN87 @ Aug 25 2013, 06:27 PM)
Hi guys,
Need to ask something.

http://www.my.emb-japan.go.jp/English/visi...sa25062013.html

The visa exemption seems to say for those passports issued after February 2010. My passport is Dec 2009.. Anyone had the same problem as me? Or not maybe tomorrow I'll call them.

Did the visa once. sad.gif A waste of time need to draft a letter from company and all.

I am going to Japan in October & I don't care about the radiation stuff. People worry so much about dying because of radiation. We will die eventually so who care?? Just go and enjoy yourself. If is my fate to die because of radiation so be it.

Think about it. If people claimed the radiation is so bad, don't you think the first one to be in trouble will be the Japanese?? It means the whole population will be wipe out.

QUOTE(NicoRobinz @ Aug 29 2013, 08:46 PM)
I really don't know. This is my first time going to Japan and also my first time taking MAS instead of AirAsia. I really don't want to cancel the trip as my money will be just wasted like that. However, whenever I read the news about its radiation leaks has upgraded to level 3 which is really worrisome.

My aunt is very positive and she says Japanese can settle it but I don't think so. This leaking problem has been kept secret for 2 years and they still cannot solve it. I'm just afraid it will be just like snowball effect that it may get bigger and bigger. As a Japan lover, of course I don't wish that happen but things aren't that positive at the moment.

I hope it won't spread to Kansai area. I want to eat seafood as much as possible.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Sep 6 2013, 05:56 PM)
Important news here:

Today officially govt ban all seafood from Aomori, Morioka, Sendai, Fukushima, Ibaraki and Chiba.

Due to seriously leak radiation water into sea.
So far no effect on sea which near to Tokyo & Hokkaido

My dear, JR Pass is for tourist only. Japanese staying in Japan are not entitle for this pass. You can't book or buy JR Pass in Japan. You need to buy in the country you are residing. They have many agent selling JR Pass all over the world. In Malaysia, you can buy from JTB (Japan Travel Bureau). I bought it during MATTA Fair for RM962 for 7 days pass. Since you are going from Tokyo to Hiroshima, Kyoto then Osaka you must buy the same JR Pass that I bought. Why are you spending most of your time in Kyoto?? No Osaka??

This is my programme

Day 1
2330hrs KUL to Tokyo

Day 2
Arrive Tokyo at 0640hrs. Drop luggage and visit the Imperial Palace.

Day 3
Tokyo perhaps roaming around at the Shinjuku, shibuya, Tokyo Tower & Roppongi.

Day 4
Tokyo (Doraemon museum & Nippori textiles street)

Day 5
Disneyland & Asakusa

Day 6
Going to Toyota plant in Nagoya

Day 7
Hakone

Day 8
Tokyo to Hiroshima. Visit the ground zero & peace memorial museum

Day 9
Going to Miyajima

Day 10
Hiroshima to Kyoto. Visit Gingakuji & GION upon arrival.

Day 11
Arasiyama & Kyoto Studio Park

Day 12
Kyoto to Osaka. Visit Osaka Castle & museum

Day 13
Osaka Aquarium and going around in Namba area

Day 14
Osaka to KUL

Why are going to Hakone after you arrive Kyoto?? You should do it when you are in Tokyo.

When you buy the JR Pass in KL, they will give you some sort of a voucher. When you arrive Japan, you must exchange this voucher with the pass at the counter. They will you give the list of the JR station where you can exchange the voucher to pass. At the same time, you can book your seat for all the sector for your oncoming journey.

QUOTE(fraulein @ Sep 18 2013, 07:21 AM)
Here's my very rough itinerary. Booked my flights in last minute so the itinerary is still.... I have so many questions.
From
KL - Narita arrival in the morning and leave luggage at hotel, then sightseeing around Tokyo.
Tokyo - Nikko day trip from Tokyo
Tokyo
Tokyo
Tokyo
Tokyo - Hiroshima - Miyajima (stay 1 night)
Miyajima - Kyoto
Kyoto - Nara day trip
Kyoto - Hikone day trip
Kyoto
Kyoto
Kyoto
Osaka - departure back to KL via Kansai Airport

Tokyo to HIroshima is like 5 hours via trains, should I stop at Kyoto for one night first? I wish to arrive at Hiroshima in at least afternoon so I will have time to enjoy both Hiroshima and Miyajima. Or should I stay 2 nights at Hiroshima/Miyajima?

As for JR Pass, do you buy via JR Rail website or other website? According to Hyperdia, my journeys will use around 45000 to 46000 Yen if I buy tickets only, is it worth it to buy JR Pass?

What is the last date for me to buy JR Pass before departure? I'm departing in first week of Oct so is there still enough time for me to buy JR Pass? Even though I buy JR Pass should I prebook the trains between the cities above? Will they be fully book?

you should go Hakone first then only Nagoya.

From Shinjuku to Hakone make more sense

Since you at Nagoya. Why from Nagoya back to Tokyo again? should overnight at Nagoya.  From Nagoya go Hiroshima next morning

Why?? u mean the journey from Tokyo to Hiroshima?

You see, the Toyota Plant tour is at 1030hr. I will take the 1st train from Tokyo to Nagoya & it takes about 2 hours. Another 1 hour 30 minutes from Nagoya Station to the plant. We can't walk around with our luggage in tow. We do not have enough time to drop the luggage.

quote=RegentCid,Sep 18 2013, 12:49 PM]
Like this waste alot of time when you going Hiroshima.

Thank you bro. I may have to reconsider that & start looking for place to stay in Nagoya instead of going back to Tokyo.

Bro, all the station your mentioned is in Nagoya right?? I can store the luggage there without dragging it to Toyota Plant.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Sep 18 2013, 01:04 PM)

Bro, me and hubby bring only 1 big bag & small hand carry. The big bag size is 70cm long & 50cm width. Is the locker can fit in that big bag? I read somewhere (can't remember where) the storage can only store small & medium size luggage.

quote=RegentCid,Sep 18 2013, 03:12 PM]
Aiyaa... The Link I give you was Nagoya Station. Inside that Map you can found all the Locker position at Nagoya Station.

Remember,  From Nagoya to Kozoji Station (Chuo Main Line) or Okazaki Station (Tokaido Main Line) are JR Line.  Your Jr rail pass will cover.

From Kozoji Station / Okazaki Station to Mikawa-Toyota Station by Aishi Loop Line will be Private Line company. Not cover by JR Rail Pass.

I suggest you wear wool such as wool socks, wool sweater/jacket. Wool can keep your warm better than cotton in cold weather like winter.

QUOTE(adix4 @ Sep 20 2013, 12:20 AM)
and i thought a normal sweater will just be sufficient

Yeah, I know. Of course you need double layer on top of that. I bought merino wool jacket in New Zealand and it works wonderfully. It cost me NZD90 but I don't mind paying for good quality stuff.

but we are just talking something that is about 0-10c Lol
Can i just wear long sleeve shirt and a sweater  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

My trip is in October & I booked my ticket in July. I did my research & goggle here n there only after finalize I posted it here. What makes you think you can do otherwise?? You must be the Y Generation need spoon fed all the time. This is your trip, you organize it & decide what you want to do. We can't speak and choose for you. We can give opinion only. Things that I like might not be your cup of tea, things you like might not my thing. That is the reason why you must do your research.

QUOTE(Tavia88 @ Sep 20 2013, 12:54 PM)
Wahlan, bro, you everyday homework only lolS. If i got time for more homework, no need ask here ad la. Are you a teacher? Lecturer? haha..
