Probably by the end of this year or next year.  Or not available at all. We all know Malaysian like to buy cheap stuff by online or black market or MSI rather than buying high end high quality from local asus.

True story, and sad : when i go to shops, most of the shops at lowyat, i don't even have the right to choose Asus. Those sellers keep directing me to MSI shxts or Dell alien. For example :
Me    : I'm looking for asus latest G series and its price.
sellers: Why asus, you see asus bla bla bla... come here MSI better, cheap and "the best"
Me    : I'm looking for asus...
sellers : see asus got bad service, you got check internet or not? and bla bla bla... MSI got G60 or shxxxt.. come..
Me    : Bye.

In my mind i really want to fk these ppl. your boss should. NOW YOU ALL KNOW WHY ASUS IN MALAYSIA ARE PITY.
NOTE: SERVICE SUCKS BECAUSE ALSO OF MALAYSIAN , THOSE WORKER ARE MALAYSIAN LAZY LIKE YOU NOT ASUS FAULT!!!

REMEMBER.

msi.. yeah. it's sad. maybe one day asus laptops will be no more in Malaysia. (like those who have bailed from here)

for g-series, recently asus is giving its users some good parts. i was surprised to see samsung xp941 in a g751 as stock ssd. that's the speediest ssd in consumer market now. it's good to see asus is putting efforts, but maybe they should look out for other things also. (like better customer service)

Nope, they are just the MSI fan boy. OR they wanted to sell it rather than popular well known asus. Who knows MSI laptop cost lower with markup price, with HIGHER COMMISSION sells.

Do you know Asus Warranty gives you full warranty for any parts in the hardware, (should try for battery but it last for 3.5 years for my old Asus, damm!)?
in my case, my G750 have an small dead pixels (only one) and they change a whole new panel or me. Within 3 weeks, should this considered bad? AND do you even know asus motherboard have their own layout for laptop which is more stable and strong enough for gaming more than 5 years? ( Very nice , good thermal paste used and heat flow) as well as Allianware.

I've dissembled the new lenovo Y50 and Acer V-nitro as well , overall bad design internally which nobody can see, but they sell with reasonable price.

that had nothing to do with honesty. it's a nuisance.

the seller could just tell the details about asus laptops (if he can, because that's actual preference of the customer), then comment on his views about asus bad services, finally proceed to recommend other brands.

they have to understand that some of us really do not depend on after sales service to use laptops. we know how to get a relatively perfect one.

lol! not many truly appreciate what asus has done. only those who played the laptops inside out know the actual reasons why people still pick g-series. (despite 'so many' complained about its after-sale service)

There is one more thing that always concerns me.
The difficulty of disassembly of Asus laptops.
Bad for beginners. But is probably an advantage for the cooling system (I think)...

That only applies to Laptop. Staff have their own struggle in sales where they have to fulfill quota. When laptop goes slim, everyone know its up to the quality of the build and cooling to determine how long of usage will it takes for the laptop to start overheat.

MSI is rather aggressive when it comes to advertising.

Asus Laptop depends on ur luck getting lemon product and most of the time regular laptop can be done by ownself just that there will be a risk of damaging if careless. While some other things such as Motherboard damage, display damage, or keyboard faulty have to rely on service centre as Malaysia do no have easy access to ebay easily as oppose of US.

I get all the parts from the china, which is the original manufactures located there. I can get anything with retail price which is up to 80% cheaper than ebay. and of course, its original. For all the laptop brand and parts include chassis, keyboard speaker... etc etc..
I just helped my friend restore his ASUS-Automobili Lamborghini VX7SX, quite impressed me. Classic, but beauty!

Disassemble for beginner, my advice is better don't else it could break the chassis or any parts. Because even me with experienced could go wrong when not doing carefully.

Back to G751, with only 20% performance gaps with high end gaming desktop (GTX980).

difficult? no, it's not difficult. it's tedious. (namely, the excessive amount of screws) however, practice makes perfect. after 3 times of doing the same thing, now i only need 15 minutes to do a full tear-down of a g55. the locations of every screw, cables, etc. are now very clear to me.

it's the same with any laptops. for instance, it's super easy to maintain aw (fan/heatsink/vents cleanups), but if you wanna access certain parts which are not exposed by the back cover, meet all the screws first. (aw18 is relatively not as friendly as aw17. still, it's not difficult. i checked the internals and then swapped some parts since day one when i got mine)

we can make ourselves from unlucky to lucky. a simple way to prevent getting lemons: test your machine once you get it (all of the parts, ports, cpu/gpu, screen, etc.). do the exchange while you still can. once we get a working one, it will work well. with that you lower the risks to get a lemon. i think all of us should practice this. it's electronics, a product from mass production. the risks are always there.

about part damages, well yeah we still need their service. i don't have the chance to do that yet. well i will never have that chance because my g55 is out of warranty now it's already 2 years old+ hahaha)

everyone must start somewhere, beginner or not. there are tons of videos out there to learn how to do dis-assembly. all they need is a screw driver set, care, and patience. (i broke 2 screw place holders in my g55 during the first-time tear-down hehe that's because i was careless. after that incident, i can dis-assemble all my other laptops without breaking anything)

Disassembly is easy for G-Series once you know which part to be cautious and the tons and tons of screws to be careful of. Though i can't tell how the hell did the technicians go through to get used with so many G-Series out int he market. Unlike horns, i did not broke any screws but i drop one screw on the the laptop internal when i want to lock my touchpad panel and chassis. I just leave it there for now until the next disassemble i'll get it out and placed it back.

Not to mention, my G-Series is 3 Years old by now.

I'll look out for G56JR if there will be any price cut or a G551 pickup sometime within these 2-3 weeks.

Read from NBR, the remaining GTX 9xxM Series production will start next year March as current manufacturing line is focusing on GTX 970M/980M.

right biggrin.gif

previously i was too eager to see the internals that a very quick turn of screw drivers broke the place holder. and the same thing happened twice lol!

g551 is better imo biggrin.gif

oh. i didn't notice the sorry. (i thought all g-series have 2 fans!) if there is only one fan, then forget what i have said :/

you can't compare a laptop to a desktop. laptops are for mobility and convenience. if you are not concerned about mobility then i must say you should go for desktop instead.

For entry level g series notebook only have one fan, with 15" inch screen. Because asus still provide optical drive which other brand dont.
But dont worry, the fan is big enough and very rare type(quality?)compare to others which enough to cool your notebook.
Latest g551 series have bundle for mouse and headset, so dont fool by seller these are limited offer or whatever shxt.

I heard frixfox or whatever have g551 for Rm3399, but limited time offer for gift like stock headset and mouse. I called asus, these are provided all the time when u buy g551. So be careful of all the bullshit or they might again fool us and steal that fking expensive gift from u. Lol...

oh they have changed the fan numbers for 15" (g55 is a 15" entry-level and it has 2 separate fans. i think because of the slim size that they have to take out the other fan). it's good they still provide dvdrom drive (even if i don't use the drive anymore, it's good to know that because that's where i will put a hdd caddy to hold another ssd/hdd. this is a hidden advantage of g-series to me, in the case of g55 it's just 3 screws away to complete the replacement)

about those gifts, they are still practicing that? when i got my g55, i met a good seller. i had everything in the box. (i had no clue that there were extra gifts actually. it's rare to see a sincere seller these days, so my friends and i decided to get a few more units from him later on hehe)

it's a bigger brown box, not the one that houses the laptop.

edit: sorry for posting too quick lol!

Yup yup.. correct, if you found honest sellers, go for it.
If there were 2 fans for 15", there will be no optical drive.

for new models, actually i think they should maintain the dual-fan configuration. (and make a usb-based dvdrom as a gift) the replacement hdd caddy is just my preference, not really a big deal. (i just like to have the chance to make laptops i own to fit my needs)

well it is what it is.

the official rog g551 upgrade guide, http://rog.asus.com/376092014/g-series-gam...-upgrade-guide/

(now you can replace the wifi card biggrin.gif)

from the pictures found online for g551, it's better to check the msata slot if you wanna add msata ssd later (maybe this requires a full teardown, maybe not). it looks like g551 only fits for a half-size instead of the common full-size msata ssd. (and that's kind of rare, and the ssd size is limited due to that form factor)

the official g751 upgrade guide, http://rog.asus.com/375732014/g-series-gam...-upgrade-guide/

for g751, the battery is now non-removable. the good news is, it's free from optimus. all of the variants. imo that's the right choice, because gamers don't care about battery life, they just plug and play.

it's a smart way to house the pcie ssd. (looks cheap but effective) apparently they are aware of the overheating issue of m.2 pci-e ssd, and turn the m.2 caddy into heat-spreading heatink (with two thermal pads).

however you need to carefully plan your purchase, if you don't wanna disassemble these machines. (e.g. m.2 caddy will not be available officially if you don't get the variant with m.2 ssd; if you wanna have 32gb ram in future, get the model with 2x8gb ram)
