yeah the ULV CPU... doesn't bring much battery saving... maybe its due to the GTX GPU taking much more power.

let's hope things will change at later time. if it doesn't i might not get any g-series anytime soon.

My Bad. G56JR runs on i5-4200H not i5-4200U. Darn Intel naming senses. It can get confusing.
They did single hatch maintenance in G550 which is good news. And there's G551(G550 refresh) which will feature GTX 860M.

Upcoming G-series lineup would be G551 and GX500.

i5.. i hope it's not like ultrabooks.

although i use it for common usage and office work only, i can feel the sluggishness of my xps with i7 4702hq already :/ (i have tried optimize the system for a bit but it is still not as good as i want it to. it's running with 16gb of ram, 2x ssd, with ram-based caching via primocache)

Better hold on G750, no heat problem..

I heard that many people suggesting me better buy an import set, which is much more cheaper with an year warranty. Import set also have many choices instead of limited choice.

-GX500
-G550JK
-Gigabyte Aorus x7 V2

How do you guys think? local Malaysia ITs are moving very slow and expensive compared to US, China. when an product already outdated then only launch at Malaysia with high Government tax.

What do you all think? I'm getting Asus GX500 soon anyway. tongue.gif

oh ok smile.gif imo we still need a few years to see powerhouse laptops with such slim form factors, with good cooling.

it's business. Malaysia is a relatively small market compared to other countries. if we have a population like in those countries, with good buying power, i think we will get cheaper stuff, too.

to most people, i really don't suggest them getting ap sets for a number of reasons. first, buying local units is to help local industry to sustain and grow. without sales numbers the local reps cannot bargain with manufacturers for better things. second, local warranty is important because once you bought the machine, it helps you a lot when dealing with faulty parts. although it also depends on the quality of service centers, at least you have a valid right to claim from manufacturers. some brands (like asus) do offer international warranty, but whether the local service center will honor the warranty or not is still uncertain, and it involves certain processes to make it work.

however, if you know how to maintain and repair laptops, get the right parts without paying a fortune when bad things happen, and you are willing to bear all risks, you can always do that. note that you might end up spending more than saving some bucks (short-term savings vs. long-term risks of paying more. you decide). by the way i still prefer to spend my money in my own country, if it's possible.
