i oso wondering got any extra feature on this special bios. mind to tell us?
*
usually vbios mod allows u to OC more than what u can OC via software.. such as gpu OC, which ours is capped at +135 core.. it allows u to do more. But at ur own risk. of course. there are hell alot more options and doors opened with a modded bios.

But of course it is not recommended unless u know what ure doing smile.gif

Hi im new to the whole gaming laptop. Im from penang. Im interested with the asus g series 46vw and 55vw as I just fall in love with the rog series. Can anyone tell me the prices of this 2 laptops and the difference between them and also where I can buy this laptops in penang? Please help. Desperately need a help.
*
i think some of us are from penang smile.gif have to wait for them to come and reply..probably raya.. so not many of us are on here. lol.

for g55 its the same as g46 (last i recall) or within that price range.. around 38XX to 39XX

difference is g55 comes with FHD for 3k price range while g46 is not FHD and also one is 14" one is 15" rest is the same (again if im not mistaken)

Hey, just need some advice and a few question hope you guys can clarified for me..i did some google research but still just want to listen from the pros biggrin.gif btw my is g55vw
can this https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1600513 caddy drive fit in my g55vw and will it perform well without any slower transfer rate? If yes, then can i take the original 1TB hard disk to place it in this caddy?

Getting a SSD to place in the previous HDD bay, the question is can i transfer the windows 8 from the original HHD to SSD and how? will the warranty void? I cant even find the serial number for my windows 8.

If cloning can be done from HHD to SSD, doesnt this mean that i can clone all my hard disk and everyone is using the same window 8? Puzzle here  rclxub.gif

thanks!  notworthy.gif
*
hi smile.gif our g55 can fit in the 12mm caddy without problem. regarding the transfer rate. it's a sata 2 port and the stock HDD isn't that fast (5400rpm). No noticeable slow down on my side tho.

And yes of course ur stock HDD to the caddy and the SSD to the hdd bay (sata 3) alot of us have done this actually.

regarding the windows 8, the key actually comes along the bios on the hdd bay port so if u install fresh windows 8 it will automatically retrieve the key. unless u are installing it to a different port which u might need to extract the token (i'm not so good in this since i don't have a win 8 pre-loaded device) but thats what i know.

Thanks for the quick respond!  rclxms.gif

So after i install the SSD into the HDD bay i just do a fresh windows 8 installation? ahh troubling you again..how exactly do i do that?
*
biggrin.gif

i forgot which windows 8 u need.. i'm so noob with windows 8 =.=" but i think if ur device comes pre-loaded with windows 8 u just need a fresh win8 and it will automatically retrieve key for u (same like formatting win 7) thats just a rough guess, i've done mine before installing win8 but since mine doesn't comes with a pre-loaded win8 so meh

Thanks bro. Well I went to perangin mall and komtar ict mall and ask about g46 and g55 nobody has the stock. They told me they dnt have stock because its a 3rd generation processor. They said if I wan, can order for me but the price is rm4099 they said and they dont know went will the newer 4th gen asus will came. Some stores even recommended me msi ge60 for rm4299. but I feel the quality of msi is not that good for that price. To much glossy and plasticy and the trackpad or touchpad is so flimsy and hard to press. Dad told me to get alienware 14 with 4th generation processor and nvidia gtx765m for rm4550. I got seen my friends alienware 14 and the quality is top notch. So now confused asus msi alienware? Which 1 any1 here thinks is good? Do help.
*
it's hard to find a new g55 or g46 coz it's a 2012 model. what size of laptop are u actually looking for?and for what purpose smile.gif since it's easier to give suggestion based on what u need

there are a few sellers at garage sales who sell ic diamond.

as for the ram, it's safer to get the most compatible ones. i had a number of sales guys telling me that 1.5V is 'FINE', 'NO PROBLEM' to use in a laptop that should run 1.35V ram. well i know it will work fine initially. they didn't mention anything about long term effects when i asked because they started showing impatient expressions lol!
*
it's not healthy for the system when higher voltage ram is used, the thing is the ram itself needed a 1.5V to fully operate while the slot only provides 1.35V =.=" it may affect the ram probably shorter lifespan for the ram and thus the system might be affected too coz the ram didn't perform as it should be.. probably somewhere it;s forced too much. lol

Yap its very hard. They say need to order and wait for 1 or 2 weeks to get. Size 13 to 15 Inches. I will use it for uni and programs like autocad inventor solidworks cathia for product designing and for presentation and word tasks and also for some quality gaming. It should be portable and must have some decent battery life with decent cooling and good graphics. My budget is around rm4500
*
i think for mentioned softwares autocad and stuff.. with decent rams 16gb - 32 gb it will work fine along with the 3630qm proc smile.gif

but as for quality gaming 660m last year is a beast.. this year the fangs kena cabut already.. smile.gif most newer games will run fine on medium smile.gif even when OC'ed

for budget 4.5k i think if u don't mind the lenovo then upgrade the SSD and rams?

it's portable and quite decent battery ( i think comes with optimus while g55 doesn't comes with optimus) but regarding cooling, might be hotter on palm rest. other than that u can scout for 2nd hand high end laptops on our garage sell smile.gif

*
ure just using it for storage? if u're going to use it for os might as well just let the os format and create volume partition for u.

*
u only check gpu temp. maybe check cpu temp, usually after reaching threshold limit it will automatically shut down in order to prevent from laptop burning. hwinfo64 is the best software out there smile.gif

how do we clean out the fan on the G55? man..if only they design it much better on the bottom half which has better accessible way to clean out the dust on the cooling fan i'd be grateful with Asus..either way quite disappointing.
*
true, along the way if u're not careful enough will dmg some components .. sending it to asus service center cost = petrol money + parking fee + toll + ur makan + ur minum + accidentally see something and bought it unnecessarily ..

its interesting if we could access the fans for cleanups overall this is a gaming laptop.. haha but we've discussed about this over and over again

Hi all,

I am considering to get G750JX in comparison to Lenovo Y500 ,

what do you guys think ?

more feedback please

thank you guyss
*
y500 only cost 22XX i saw someone offered on garage sells while y510p lying around 3k+ with sli 750Mx2 but do check out even 750 sli isn't as good as a single 770m

look around in garage sells i think ppl selling for 4.5k and 2nd hand (open then realize it's too big) for 4.2k.. biggrin.gif

lenovo has heating problem, my friend y500 keyboard got melt abit coz of the external gpu heated too much lol, then reach the keyboard. playing games also wont be comfortable coz palm rest warm all the time have to use external keyboard biggrin.gif

other than that the lenovo is actually good, enough for those who want a budget gaming laptop. no doubt about that

Never mind, I get a 1 to 1 exchange from the shop. I played DotA 2 in front of the technician and the laptop just BSOD after 5 minutes then cannot turn on. LOL.
*
u must be lucky the laptop shows its true self hahaa.. what i usually hate is when bringing in to the service center most of my laptops just suddenly became 100% perfect, it's like bringing someone to the hospital and he really hates it, even dying can act like can 100 meter sprint vs usain bolt.

Good to know they are improving, first time ever 1 to 1 exchange. Very promising service center then biggrin.gif

no, he did the right thing by going straight to the retail shop, not service center. whenever you get electronics, it's best to make sure the retailer is willing to do 1-to-1 exchange and be well aware of the expiry of that offer, before you pay.

once you go to the service center, it could be another story.
*
oh i actually usually do that.. when i bought mine the shop is willing to do 1 to 1 within 7 days..i thought he went to the service center coz he say technician? lol

TOtal RM4097

you guys think its alright?

I'm hoping to switch to desktop gaming by mid october before Battlefield 4 is out.. hehe
*
woah nice one biggrin.gif maybe if u can find individual parts all around garage sells might cut ur budget abit and add more powaahhh to ur CPU~ and also GPU rclxms.gif

others looks fine although those wifi might need to be changed over time~ if u are saving ur budget atm

the PSU is ok for me too 80 plus bronze izzit? we don't want the power to fluctuates too much will dmg components inside the PC
