QUOTE(riku2replica @ Jul 24 2013, 04:00 PM) b00ter's replies were mine.QUOTE(holloway @ Jul 24 2013, 04:06 PM) Yeah, was hoping any MSI owners to come here and tell their experience haha! it's better to ask them at msi thread this thread has good community yeah. it's better that we don't limit the topics to asus gaming laptops (it has limited topics only). imo there are no 'the best' among the brands. each has pro's and con's. i really hope we all can get to know more about these gaming laptops, or other related things. that might be helpful for all of us to choose what we need from all those choices (and budgets). the same as you, i used to have high hopes on asus gaming laptops. however, reality is reality :/ |

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Jul 24 2013, 05:22 PM) Basically Asus tried too hard(wasted the extra effort on innovation) , that almost all their g series are difficult to access to certain ram slots,m-sata(g55) and hard disk drive(on g53/73). yeah; it's like they are aware of the importance of key differentiators, but they have no idea how to do it right. i really don't have the clue how a single 0msata slot help create advantages in g55. seriously. to me it has no obvious advantage compared to a 2.5" ssd.Note, I may not be able to list all down. But i did partially teared down my g53 to install the SSD cos its been locked down from front and back. asus gaming laptops are service unfriendly. that's probably why they have one of the worst service quality here (.. and everywhere). |

QUOTE(holloway @ Jul 25 2013, 02:04 AM) haha.. yeah =.=" but i'm no good in jumping in threads~ lol. same thing ~ if it's ur type even 3 fans once u repaste i'm damn sure 100% u will repaste all 3 fans haha.. yeah but most of the times i just hope to replace thermal pastes for cpu or gpu only. currently my gpu temperature is so damn nice.Well some people aren't open minded enough, they only want asus thread to talk about asus~ lol well "some" I'm still hoping in near future asus will reflect on their "smart" innovation. As of now, like what u say reality is reality. Someone needs to smack them on their head to make them wake up i just hope they stop self-screwing themselves (i.e. syok sendiri) :/ QUOTE(evanwong101 @ Jul 25 2013, 10:14 AM) new owner of g55vw report for duty. hey welcome bought a y510p us set new, didnt manage to use and sold it and got g55vw new set offer from a buddy..luckyly i didnt open the y510p,never regret to choose g55...eventhough the spec is bit outdated compare to 510 but the build is damn solid...bomb proof but it gain the weight. |

QUOTE(Unseen83 @ Jul 26 2013, 01:20 AM) on XoticPC site G750JX/JW they let you custom 2x Msata and 2xHDD/SSD to fit into system on their custom setting while ODD intact... is this mean G750 have 2 Msata slot? and 2 HHD bay ? the default specs of a jw is just the normal 2 sata hdd bays. i think there is something wrong with their options. |

yeah but i think asus should go for m.2/ngff cards instead of msata.
msata might be useful for smaller form factor models (more compact), but i think it's pointless if you used this in a g750 that has larger compartments (unless, of course, they wanna do something like what msi did in their super raid setup). |

come on.. people in retail market also need to eat la :/ the margin must be good so that they have motivations to sell. these are higher-end laptops that only serve very limited niche market; it's not like those for common consumer market. they have rents to pay; salary and commissions to pay; and all sorts of things to take care of.
however, the retailers do understand the behaviors of consumers (all want premium stuff with low-baller price; well, who don't want that? right?). so they make adjustments to accommodate the market. retail selling pricing is the dream that manufacturers hope to sell; however, usually dream and reality are just totally different. so if you still think it's a rip-off, you can always choose other routes to get the stuff. we are all aware of places that can get things cheaper, very much cheaper. it's your call to continue support the local retailers, i.e. pay a bit higher price for local warranty support especially; so as to help them to sustain (you are still allowed to negotiate with them and most of the times you can get good discounts; if not you can still go for other shops), or go for cheaper ones from elsewhere (just note that there are risks in this one; so it's all up to you). |

oh my.. calm down guys :/
i just wanna point out retailers are the group of people who face the reality part of the game, while manufacturers continue to dream on. all i wanna say is when you think the price in retail is fair enough (usually after negotiations), then go ahead. if it's not fair, then don't go for it. |

yaphong, yeah you can switch the wifi card. previously i had an intel 6235, now running intel 7260 .ac wifi.
depending on your model, the stock wifi should either an intel 2230 or atheros AR9485WB-EG. technically, you will void the laptop warranty if you touched the area that is beyond your hdd bays and accessible ram slots under the back cover. however, you can still switch these components, as long as you remember to put the stock parts back in when you go for warranty claims. |

QUOTE(tonberry_ax @ Aug 1 2013, 08:12 AM) uh? oh ok. actually, there is no need to guide :/ it IS simple (but tedious due to the screws). you just need to be careful and patient. that's all. a better way is to take a lot of pictures along the way. |
