Simply because you can ask for the cheaper menu. I guess I should rephrase, have the prices changed so that we know which is the cheaper menu and which is not?

Hahaha.. well like i say really depends on your luck la.

Furthermore, seafood? seasonal item? lol

1. for me, I prefer tanah lot than uluwatu. Reason is that i find it cleaner, less worrying about monkeys and the view is better imo.

2. I really doubt, if not mistaken you will be water rafting in southern bali rite? for you to get to tanah lot it will require atleast 1hr plus depending on traffic.

3. When i was there, around 6:30pm / 7:00pm can say already quite dark. . So you really need to check the sunset time when you are there.

Watching the Kecak Dance at sunset at Uluwatu was one of the most surreal experiences I've had. But Mugenz makes a good point about the monkeys. If you do go to Uluwatu, be careful of all your belongings especially the shiny stuff. I met a guy who lost his glasses to the monkeys and it seems that that occurs pretty frequently.

i saw it with my own eyes one monkey went to take a tourist's sunglasses from her head then pass to the temple ppl. Then the mat salleh have to ask her tour guide to negotiate to get back the sunglasses. I cant see how much she paid..

Well the dance is good but not necessary to watch it there. Can watch in Ubud or Tanah lot as well.

barong dance a bit more boring compared to kecak dance
at least kecak dance has the fire climax at the end

but I highly recommend you watch the kecak dance at Uluwatu and not other place
go a bit early to grab a good seat facing the sea and cliff
it's an surreal experience watching the kecak dance with the sunset backdrop
IMO, best view in Bali

as for Uluwatu, it used to be plagued by monkeys, but we went there again in Sept last year, didn't see a single monkeys at all, I heard the authorities actually get rid of them due to constant complaints from the tourist.

for first timer there, better get a driver
but if you're adventurous, no harm to rent a car wink.gif

izzit.. as i was being told they are like spiritual beings for the temple. So they are allowed to roam freely. Thats why.

But if really they are really gone then it will be good.. Really i am scared of them.

Not recommended if you are first timer, furthermore if you are not really confident of your driving skills then better hire driver.

The traffic is crazy and majority of the road is one lane and with alot of bikes.

guys... not sure if anyone asked this already... traveling in a family of 8 adults and 3 kids next May... any suggestion of accommodations? (rather than in hotel rooms.. prefer like a villa with 4 rooms or chalets...)
Also, recommended tour guides with transport arrangements. thanks in advance for your help guys.

budget around S$180 per night. Looking for those with private pools, breakfast brought to villa types.
I saw quite a number in airbnb. However I have a feeling private is not really private, as i notice the neighbouring units (those with 2 storeys) can overlook into the pool area.
I really want to swim / sunbathe without having the feeling that i can be watched. unsure.gif

Try this http://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Hotel_Review...-Ubud_Bali.html

a little bit away from ubud main town. But, free transfer anytime and pick up. Big space, breakfast all you can order, delivered to your villa up to 12pm i think. Very worth. Downside is, bedsheets and linens are all a little bit old. Maybe they've upgraded? stay more than 2 nights and they give free airport transfer 2 way i think.

we stayed there last year for few nights
highly recommend them
fantastic service, great breakfast, privacy assured (can go for skinny dip brows.gif), huge private pool (if you're lucky to get one of the newer units with huge pool), value for money icon_rolleyes.gif

only downside is their facilities a bit worn out, and their location is not really walking distance to Ubud town
but their excellent service and free shuttle make-up for it icon_rolleyes.gif
