Not advisable for first timers. Better get a private driver to bring you around. Let me know if you need one.

I've rented their car and self drive there twice, no you don't need an international license to drive there, most car rental companies will accept our Malaysia driving license
some doesn't even check your license

anyway, depending on your driving skills and drive there at your own risk, some of the roads can be pretty narrow especially at the rural area, and some of their drivers attitude is worse than ours, you'll be using the honk a lot just like the locals
traffic rules are generally the same like ours, but watch out for traffic light junctions, some will just run the red lights without any care at all, some of the traffic designs also doesn't make sense to us, like you can make a U-turn on a busy fast moving 6 lanes highway doh.gif

I no longer self drive after they increase their petrol prices which is a lot more expensive than ours, not to mention most rentals are manual, you'll need to pay extra for auto which are not that common as well

for a peace of mind especially if you're travelling with family, better hire a supir there

if you're still young and have confidence in your driving skills, can try driving there smile.gif

Grab is not cheap in Bali, especially if take from airport. Going to airport are almost half the price.

It's cheaper to get a private driver for 10 hours/day at 400K rupiah (grab form airport to Kuta are already 180K)

Sim card can buy from Shopee.

Take Grab or Gojek, safer and save u the headaches of driving in Bali which can drive one nuts. The drivers are more tolerants than ours though..

I use this

https://shopee.com.my/Indonesia-Travel-Unli...7914.1711840333

The coverage is very good as I stay in Kuta but the coverage in Ubud and at Percak dance is a little weak ( connect using XL network)

i'm travelling to Bali next week. so far from what i know, you need to have your vaccination certs ready and download/register for the "Peduli Lindungi" app (MySJ equivalent in Indonesia).

Is it still necessary to show vaccine proof MySJ at bali airport?

Just got back from 1 week trip to Bali.

No, you DON'T need the pelindung app but you DO need to submit the health declaration form. There's a QR code at the check-in counter here in MY or you can go to https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/ . Keep the QR code (receipt for submission record), you need to scan this after you have collected your baggage.

Don't bother driving on your own, the traffic is so bad, parking is virtually inexistence or very far away and the subir price is so affordable (Rm120-140 for 8-12 hours). Riding however is a different story, save time when you need to navigate through heavy traffic.

Planning to go Bali for 3D2N some time this year, will be staying in Kuta.

Anyone has any itinerary suggestion for a first timer?

It will be me and my SO, late 20s.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you!

1) Nusa Peninda (island) = Highly recommended
2) Ubud + monkey forest
3) uluwatu temple (go evening for show)
4) Tegenungan waterfall
5) seafood dinner at Jimbaran

Get a personal driver will be cheaper when u do day trips to several places

400K rupiah/car for 8-10 hours

Nusa Peninda take private tour (just 1- 2 person to a car) because it's hot and you travel to 4 different beaches. sitting next to a fat sweaty european will not be a nice experience (Tour package load 5 person into a car) I paid 850 rupiah for a private tour and sit alone in a Fortuner.
