QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 23 2013, 02:59 PM) i don't watch the flat stage wins... those is the usual very predictable ones (cav vs sagan) if the stage is purely flat or have a long stretch of flats before the finish line.. You seriously think Hedjadal a contender....or are you possibly a closet Cervelo fans and on the surface a Parlee fans? Why would Nibali not ride the tour 1) Nibali knows better than to fight Contador and Froome in TDF with his odds of winning a 5 way (froome, contador, evans/van garderan, ryder, himself), race The shark's fee is reputable to be 2 million Euros with Astana...... he has to be smart in playing out the game, this year he scored many a 1st and at the expenses of Froomey and El Pistorelo at Tirreno Adriatico This post has been edited by Mac Wai: Jun 23 2013, 06:14 PM |

Hello Guys,
I'm planning to take up cycling and I'm still torn between mountain bikes and road bikes. I am planning to take the bike to school and nearby area for commuting purposes, and also join the local cycling community in their night rides. Nearby areas and commuting there will be some so-called offroad shortcuts i can take but I'm worry that the road bikes cant handle these bumps well. To join the local cycling community, I believe a newbie like me on MTB wont be able to keep up to the convoy on road/racing bikes. Worse of all the matters, I have limited budget around +-RM800. So i'm looking for some secondhand bikes which is around that budget. Have you guys any experience with Exitway Ergo Logic ? Is it a good bike to start with ? I've got an offer for it at around RM800, that'd be my best choice for now for roadies. What about Polygon Helios 200 and Carrera Virtuoso, there's some offer for them at around RM1k-1.2k, althought it's over my budget, but I'm still currently studying and doing some research which are those worth to get. If I may know, what do you guys think of 700c or roadie wheels on MTB ? Sorry for asking so many questions at a go, I'm being indecisive and a total noob here. Thank to all your replies in advance. Cheers. |

QUOTE(Mac Wai @ Jun 23 2013, 05:54 PM) You seriously think Hedjadal a contender....or are you possibly a closet Cervelo fans and on the surface a Parlee fans? I've always liked Cervelo's and Parlee both...with equal amounts of love... just like my fleshlights and tenga's... cannot live without either one...The shark's fee is reputable to be 2 million Euros with Astana...... he has to be smart in playing out the game, this year he scored many a 1st and at the expenses of Froomey and El Pistorelo at Tirreno Adriatico If Nibali is a challenger, so is Ryder a contender... he just needs a bit of luck and a strong team to round up around him... he is almost equal in strength to Evans and Van Garderan i think... But in real fact, if saxobank and sky were to to have a dance-off.. all this 3 buggers would be un-important... it will most likely be a saxobank and sky showdown in the tour even though some of this other guys look strong... Is it only 2 million euros? i heard the rumor was 2.8mil euros and the role of an outright captain... contador used to rack in 8 mil euros pre-doping days.. i don't think he is earning any less now... QUOTE(joyformidable @ Jun 23 2013, 05:55 PM) if she has armpit hair... you'd be sure i will be posting it... unfortunately... she hasn't gotten that weird yet...This post has been edited by butthead: Jun 23 2013, 06:37 PM |

QUOTE(WjLye @ Jun 23 2013, 06:04 PM) Hello Guys, dun be offended... but the hard truth is that RM800 is not going to go anywhere be it a road bike or MTB...I'm planning to take up cycling and I'm still torn between mountain bikes and road bikes. Cheers. and secondly, you have a big dilemma here, on one hand.. you need a bike to commute to school and it is no sense to buy an expensive bike of any kind to go to school because of security issues... and if you get one cheap enough not to worry about it while in class... you will find that it is not going to be any good or satisfies you when you ride with friends who has better bikes.. (in fact, nothing will ever satisfy you because there is so called "real friends" out there, you'll understand this later as time goes by) so, you need to sort that out first before going further ahead... in the direction of getting involved with the cycling community... i can only say to buy what your group rides if you are undecisive... of course an MTB can still roll with the road bikes although slightly slower...and to make it clear, good cycling groups never leave their mates behind, they will always wait for the ones who have been dropped off the tail end of the group...and if you cannot accept the fact that you can't go as fast as they do...sorry to say that it is mentally your issue as there is no guarantee that riding a road bike with a roadie group guarantees that you can follow them.. on the other hand, if they rode MTB and you bought a road bike... you totally can't follow them into trails.. and that becomes a bummer and you end up being forever alone... and then back to the question of money... we have nothing against exitway...but usually brands like this will sell for a price so cheap it is unbelievable and they divert your attention by giving you a couple of fantastic components where mostly people will first notice when looking for a bike and cut costs on the rest of the stuff where people don't take note so much.... polygon would at least still be slightly better than exitway and they are sometimes quite cheap... so, i'd say the best is to save up a bit more... and take the bus to school... concentrate on one aspect only because you don't want to end up "两头不到岸“ if you know how to read chinese... MTB of reputable brands would costs as much as RM1.5k nowadays with entry level parts and road bikes as much as RM1.8k to RM2k as starters... and to make things clear...i am not saying that the cheap bikes are totally no good... it depends on how content you are with the bike itself... i own a cheapo MTB myself and i sometimes still use it to stroll around town myself... Yes, i understand the RM800 if really not an significant amount to go into serious cycling. That is why I'm also considering now...and secondly, you have a big dilemma here, on one hand.. you need a bike to commute to school and it is no sense to buy an expensive bike of any kind to go to school because of security issues... and if you get one cheap enough not to worry about it while in class... you will find that it is not going to be any good or satisfies you when you ride with friends who has better bikes.. Your reply gave a lots of information and are really useful for me. I will think deeply and reconsider all these points. Thank you very much for your reply, appreciate it. Gotta think about it, gotta keep saving. Cheers people. |
