tried once, did not satisfy with the coverage, live in Nilai btw. bro, if i'm on 3g and wifi at the same time, all the apps such as whatsapp, wechat will automatically use wifi or still use 3g?

Wifi. It is controlled by the radio, not the app.

Weird stuff

Will ants eat the inside of your smartphone?

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Will-ants-e...rtphone_id43955

Traveling to the southern United States from South America, Rasberry crazy ants are forcing out the population of native ants, but more importantly, they are destroying electronic gadgets including smartphones. Measuring less than 1/8th of an inch, these little guys like to eat electrical components and their size allows them to slip right into a handset or a tablet.

Currently spotted in at least 21 Texas counties and 20 Florida counties, these pests are immune to pesticides and love to travel. In Texas last year, they were responsible for $146.5 million in damages to electronic devices. And besides being hard to kill, when they do get electrocuted inside a device, they release pheromones which attract more ants to the device. And when those ants are electrocuted, more pheromones are released and you can figure out the cycle.

So if your handset or tablet stop working all of a sudden, it might not be something faulty done by the manufacturer. It just might be the result of the Rasberry crazy ant looking to feed off the inside of your electronic devices.

let's just pray that these ants won't make their way here.

They should be released in those places in Africa and China that are electronics waste dumps...maybe that would be good for those places.

went to nearest maxis branch just now, subscribe surfmore 50 and maxis staff ask which phone i use. told her note 2, she give me self cut sim card also. I'm so worry later get any problem, but she said they always do self cut sim and nothing wrong.

one more thing, i forgot to ask for "special bill statement" forgot the real name already, but that bill will list all our usage including call to who and sms to who. this is to avoid being overcharged by Maxis which already happen to one of my friend before. do you take this option?
*
"detailed bill" I think it's called. You can call 123 and tell them you want it, or login to maxis.com.my to add this as a "Value Added Service" which will cost RM5, but you can select "e-bill" which will waive RM5, so nett is zero charge for this.

I wonder will it take the newer GPUs to run it? Note 3 free app from Samsung Apps perhaps?

The free packaged apps are the value add from Samsung for the 2k+ price you pay, coz stuff like MC 3 and a few others do cost some $$$.

BTW the S4 thread is in a flurry from the new fat updates.

I wonder what's taking the supposed testing of the new TW such a long time. Either the code is not well maintained or it's a marketing decision to hold back.

I think so, it's the OS running.

QUOTE(AmmoShaf @ Jun 12 2013, 02:43 PM)
Yaya, it is itemised billing. are you using it? i dont worth or not to use it. Scared later when not use it, the bill will be overcharged.
hopefully it goes the same to me. Lazy to go maxis centre ask for new sim, then need to pay some more. now waiting for the sim to get activated, the staff said probably 24hours.
*
I recall some places they don't charge you, or maybe RM10 to swap. A MEP may charge, but the Maxis centers owned by Maxis shouldn't.

EDIT, yes, like what afzal_m said, choose e-bill delivery and you get RM5 waiver.

Anyway it's a PDF sitting in your gmail or email box, so why worry.

Hi all, is it safe to freeze Video Player? I keep getting notification from the watchdog.

Why freeze? Use Greenify to hibernate it until you use it. Freeze means you can't use it.

What is this Watchdog app that keeps alerting you?

Why is it waking up? Are you playing a lot of movies?

Anyway, one of the better SOTs I've ever gotten despite the use of MyPhoneExplorer in Wifi mode for 14hrs

Note: I was also charging from powerbank which only showed 800 or 900 mAh despite being rated at 1.5A. This is the Yoobao transformer like 13k set. It's letting me perform about 2.5 full charges. Either I got a low quality unit or power conversion is bad.

So ((Xa))0102 you may be on to something here, per your last post about charging between 0.7A and 1.2A

Only once in a while stock video player were running from facebook link but since it always take long time to open, immediately I closed (back hard button) it. But I feel it still running due to my phone get warm after a minute or so.

Probably you could clear the default and switch everything to MXPLayer.

Two of my friends have accidentally dropped their Note 2's on the floor, the screen is gone off (not broken, but there is no more display) and they have to pay approximately 500 TL. (= $265) in Turkey for the repair :-OOO...

Plus my wakelocks have been pretty constant, with different charging rates the SOT varies a lot, especially the difference between 1.2A and 2A

It's Battery Monitor Widget Pro. There's also the non pro version w ads.

I will try again w powerbank coz I have packed away the 1A s3 charger somewhere tongue.gif pain to dig it out.

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jun 12 2013, 03:59 PM)
4 hours is average for WCDMA/LTE usage

For WiFi, it's considered poor.
*
4+ is poor, but considering I had a 14 hr constant wakelock and 47mins of calls, I think that's pretty good.

When I'm out without wifi, I get around 3.5 - 4hrs, maybe 4.5 sometimes, with constant watching of wakelocks. This one shows a flat consumption graph, so the drop is really low despite the wakelock.

Post 8 under Wakelocks, but usually it involves tracking down the offending app, and Greenify-ing or Freezing it, or avoiding circumstances that cause it.

Good ones, I probably still have some app that I haven't greenified or frozen. Probably the monitoring apps themselves are the culprit.

Those wakelocks are caused by the phone itself i.e. mdm_hsic_pm0 (only occurs when I on DATA), "alarm_rtc", "battery-monitor", "alarm", "hsicctl0" for kernel wakelocks. While for Partial Wakelocks, "AudioOut_2", "MediaScannerService" and "FacebookService" (I felt strange, since my Facebook push notifications aren't working but it still causes wakelocks.
*
Those are the phone usage wakelocks, which you can't do anything about unless you switch off your phone ahhahha.

I recall for Note 1 the L2_hsic became a really bad problem but nobody knew how to deal with it at the time. I suppose Samsung improved it for Note 2 and nobody's complaining about this anymore.

What about using 3rd party FB apps?

EDIT: posted above text before seeing your screenshot.

hmm.gif

Looks like mine before I greenified everything the other day. Now the Awake is 20% of the Since Unplugged time. Before this it was like yours, about 50% of the Since Unplugged time.

I believe AppGratis was a bad offender coz I had very high CPU usage for long hours since installing.

Anyway I don't have FB, Twitter, Line or Wechat. Viber is greenified, and Whatsapp is well behaved now. For whatever reason, I can;t get more than approx 4.5hrs SOT from day 1 coz I don't obsess myself with killing wakelocks, but obsess myself with monitoring usage laugh.gif
