Interesting article exploring waterproofing options

hooh888 right up your alley

So you want a water resistant device. What are your options?
http://www.androidauthority.com/water-resi...oatings-223230/

We human beings can't live too far from Earth’s most vital element, water. But water can become a harmful element, especially when it comes to pricey and sensitive electronic equipment such as smartphones. I’m sure that many of you are familiar with that special feeling of horror that occurs when a gadget refuses to come to life after getting in contact with a liquid.

But there are several ways you can avoid such unfortunate accidents. The one that makes the most sense is to buy a phone that’s water resistant by design, and there are several good options for you to pick from. The second one would be to use a water resistant case that will also protect the device from mechanical shocks. Finally, you could have your device waterproofed by coating it with a special water repellent solution.

Each solution has its pros and cons – we'll take an in-depth look at everything in this post.

Looks legit. 5 x 2.6k mAh batteries. The 11k unit will have 4 batteries.

3.7v batteries

2600mAH x 5 = 13000mAH

3.7(13000/5) = 9620mAH (real capacity)

when raised to 5v

Yes, it managed to charge my Note 2 for 2.5 times.

I guess the 11k will offer 2 charges.

About 80% efficient.

The crap thing is the 13k model uses glue to seal the casing. This means it's a throwaway item once the batteries run down. I generally hate stuff that cannot be disassembled mechanically.

Now I have to somehow keep the cover properly stuck on especially if I travel, what with paranoid airport security...

I think normal powerbank below 20k mah should be within limits.
*
Based on what I've seen so far, legit 18650s max out at 3.4ah but are sold at abt rm60-80 per piece. 20k will need 6 of those and the powerbank will cost at least rm300.

Good stuff doesn't come cheap.

LiPoly packs are different but I guess anything above 15k is also going to be horribly expensive.

So all the 20k and above on the market are likely con jobs.

if by h u mean maH..H is hour..neglect that.. just use P(watt)=V(voltage)xA(ampere)
*
So since mine's 13A(h) from 5 x 2600mAh, I will get 3.7V x 13A = 48.1W, or 0.048kW

The standard Note 2 battery is 3.8V x 3.1A = 11.78W, or 0.01178kW

Correct boss?

We can simply add h for completeness' sake tongue.gif

Tools:

Lightweight ADB and Fastboot Installer
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/ligh...boot-installer/

ADB and Fastboot are two of the most indispensable tools for manipulating and modifying your Android device. Offering the ability to perform all kinds of actions ranging from simple operations such as pushing and pulling certain files to unlocking bootloaders and flashing custom recovery images, these two tools are something that nearly everyone who has tinkered with an Android device in some way has been exposed to.

Despite the simple nature of both these utilities, actually getting hold of the latest versions and setting them up can often be troublesome for the less experienced user. The sure fire way to get the most recent versions is to download the Android SDK. That, however, means downloading a lot of stuff for two relatively tiny tools and let’s be honest, ain’t nobody got time for that. If it is just the single tools you’re after, there’s a very simple way of getting hold of them.

XDA Forum Member shimp208 created Minimal ADB & Fastboot which is a Windows-based installer that simply grabs the latest versions of ADB and Fastboot before installing them to a location of your choice, eliminating the need for an enormous downloads or trawling the internet for a specific version. Once you’re connected via USB and your device is recognized, you should be ready to start using ADB and Fastboot. It’s as simple as that.

I think this will provide a big fight to the Note 3.

http://www.phonearena.com/news/6.44-inch-S...itation_id43999

A downside is the non-removable battery, which may not be all that great of an issue. The other thing of course is the famous Sony fondness for lockdowns.

ADDED:
If this is to be unveiled on Independence Day (4th July), then it will provide impetus to Samsung to bring the Note 3 early....the S4 was launched about 1 month after the XZ, and it seems to have cut into S4 sales.

Hi there, i want to buy a case for my note 2. Then, i have two choices weather to use Otterbox Defender Series or Urban Armor Gear ?

1) otterbox defender : really safety, covers whole of phone body.

2) urban armor gear : stylish design, covers back of phone not it's surface.

Help me to make exact choice
@Joytest : correct me if i wrong again or you can delete this post   biggrin.gif

NP, welcome to ask here, and if you've gotten a Note 2 recently, please add yourself to via the form in post 4. Read page 1 for an understanding of this great device.

I use a Defender myself, and prefer the functional protection over aesthetics. The built in screen protector adds some fricitiveness but does not detract from any usage scenarios.

QUOTE(botakbin @ Jun 13 2013, 01:09 PM)
Hows the software development side for this one?
*
It's using Huawei's own K3V2 CPU, so I am not certain about wide support but apparently there are a number of ROMs on Chinese XDA or its equivalents.

All your data are belong to us:

WhatsApp processes record 27 billion messages in one day
http://www.phonearena.com/news/WhatsApp-pr...one-day_id44000

Yep, you read that right: WhatsApp has processed a record 27 billion messages in one day. That's an incredibly impressive number, and it also happens to be a record for the company. WhatsApp has been the go-to cross-platform messaging service recently, and has really been gaining more and more steam with users who are leaving BlackBerry, but still have friends on the platform, because it is one of the few options that still supports older BB versions.

WhatsApp says that there were 10 billion incoming messages and 17 billion outgoing messages processed in one 24 hour period. That makes for 27 billion total messages, which beats the old record of 18 billion, which was set on New Years Eve 2012. The incoming and outgoing message totals are not even, according to WhatsApp, because the outgoing message total gets inflated by group message.

It's hard to say how the number stacks up to other messaging platforms, because few others really give out those numbers. We had heard recently that BBM is processing about 10 billion messages a day by its 60 million users. WhatsApp recently said that it has 200 million active monthly users, but has not said how many total registered users are on the platform.

He is probably a legit seller and is/was also a Note 2 owner. However since he is in PG and if you are you could drop by his shop. The larger sellers are DirectD, Alieamin and SatuGadget.
