 Unhappy with the s4 and the service

I just had my s4 for 2 weeks... the first day it hangs the second day it overheats... once it was so hot that i had to let it go... i went to the service centre and they actually opened it up and replaced the motherboard....

I am very unhappy with this... i only had the phone for 2 weeks and they actually had to open it up and change the whole motherboard???

Come on ... i bought the phone from a samsung shop ... had the phone for a mere 2 weeks, not even a month has reached.

Why am i unhappy?

1. The phone basically is a disappointment from day 1

2. When i went and request both in the service centre and the customer care service(call) for an exchange ... they said no... Samsung malaysia does not do 1 to 1 exchange..

3. I mean wth .... they opened my phone up and replaced the whole motherboard, why the hell can't they just give me a new phone and BESIDES its only been 2 weeks.... and WORSE its rm 2.2k

4. the service center guy told me that it is only if i send if for problems 2 or 3 times that they will forward it to the headquarters for a request of a new set replacement...

Seriously man what the hell... what the hell... now i'm having a refurbished set instead - -"


I urged buyers to reconsider getting the s4

hello are you new to this? Only HTC provide one to one exchange.

Kindly learn to update yourself dude

1) The phone is a tool if u do not know how to use is u sux not the phone.

2) So does NOKIA, MOTOROLA, LG and etc no one to one exchange except HTC

3) Its company policy not to provide one to one exchange do your research

4) Same answer as 3) except special case most issue are solve by replace motherboard

SERIOUS MAN UPDATE YOURSELF dude.

You like urging people not to ever buy mobile phone because most company have the same policy. You are a joke dude

Just because most companies not practising a good customer service, doesn't mean that the consumers must swallow the shitting service provided. I think TS makes a valid case, as he expects top-notch quality (which could be provided by HTC in this case) in customer service, unless you don't think "quality" should not be associated with "Samsung" (that's really a personal and subjective view, BTW). If customers continue to 'act stupid', then distributors will not provide a better service. On what basis do you think customers in Malaysia deserve less compared to others?

Ts is just expressing his opinion. Every company have their policy. Is good that I know this coz I might can weigh better the next phone I buy. And forum is a good place to update yourself.

But ts, all phones have problems in a small percentage of them and being unlucky is something to expect. I hope the repair solves your problem. Coz that is the point. I had 2 Samsung phones since Jan 2010 and although I had minor issues with quality, they are still serving me well and I never claimed warranty. My ipad on the other hand I claimed warranty already.

1. you sure play around the phone 1st before buy it

2. so far only certain HTC phone got 1 to 1 exchange

3 & 4. every company got their own policy

at last, every phone sure will overheat, depends what you doing on the phone
4x degree is acceptable

If you paid rm2.2k and already had problems with it within 2 weeks wouldn't you want an exchange as well instead of them opening up the whole damn phone and replacing the motherboard???

Hell i was using the same apps i was using on my s2 prior to using my s4, and hell it heats up even on standby mode and even on mesaging... i don't even play any high graphic games, so far there was only game game installed and the rest are apps like whatsapp, instagram, facebook and someother minor apps, imagine the s4 overheating over that apps or even hanging while trying to receive a call.......... minor overheating is okay, but like i said once it got so hot i had to LET IT GO (get the picture of how hot it was) ????????????????

I don't expect an exchange if it has been a month but its only been 2 weeks, so what the hell, so dude please read before you even reply, i merely asked ppl to reconsider about purchasing the s4. Haha, you know what service provide by maxis if you buy a iphone from them? The time you buy, the staff will open the box and test in front of you.......if found any scratches or malfunction, they only can send back Apple for claiming, maybe get a recon set. You never touch the phone all the while

correct. My ipad I claim warranty one to one exchange. But the 'new' ipad didn't come with sealed box like when i bought it . So i doubt it is new. But i don't complain coz it works like new.

I been work in an OEM company b4. Doing some Branded phone. First released phone have the best quality in term of cosmetic, and functional. We call it Grade A product, to ensure user have great experience. The grade B and C will keep as stock. When large order come in, and production unable to cover, they will start release B and C grade
Some error or design flaw will only found after launch the phone. So they will have revise version on PCB or design.

btw, they change the motherboard for you is good enough already.

After changing the motherboard it's better... Overheating is still there but much much less - more like a phone now ... However now when I use the camera sometimes it restarts .... Man you know what this really sucks that we don't get the same treatment as in the US even though we are paying the same amount .... Most of you guys here are content with such treatment and I wonder ... Isn't this why we as consumers here are still treated as such? Man I'm sure you guys know that in US or EU, they would have exchanged for a brand new set to keep their mouths shut .... It is still doesn't change the fact they sold me a defective product and tried to give it back to me the same stuff just this time refurbished lol...

I think you just have a bad apple, maybe 1 in a few thousand? Of course, usually a 1-to-1 exchange would be the best, since it should completely eliminate any manufacturing deficiency that occurs on your phone. That said, unless the issue is not due to the processor (which has been replaced with a mobo replacement), the same problem is not likely to occur again. And be glad that yours is an S4 that opening and putting it back will not affect the fit and gap. You'll be crying if it's an HTC One!

Gawd dammit its overheating and laggy again ive not download any extra apps since 2 days b, sigh and with an additional auto restart when using the camera
