ok, thanks. it is third party app then, not telco. SMS is not using your mobile phone no. So, the sms does not show up in your monthly billing?

Not a big deal since I whatsapp more than sms nowadays.

Talking about whatsapp, if I transfer my sim-card to the nexus, whatsapp works on nexus? I've already registered whatapps on my mobile. If I'm not mistaken, whatsapp registration follows your mobile no. right?

First you will need to download WhatsApp.apk from their website and install as Play Store don't allow WhatsApp to be installed in tablet yet.

Secondly, if you transfer your SIM card from your old device (if it is an Android phone), you can do a manual backup of your History in the WhatsApp setting and move the whole folder to your new Nexus 7. After installing WhatsApp, just insert your phone number and it will prompt a message if you want to restore all your backup and history, and you are good to go, no need for re-verify.

If your old device is not other than android, you will need to verify your number with WhatsApp and you cannot bring forward your history but to start fresh.

Wrong bro. Though is 3rd party app but it uses the telco sms &it will reflect on your monthly bill. Just like u send out a sms using a normal phone. The recipient will capture your mobile no. This is so different wif whatsapp that uses wifi or network connection.
