Well, registering old SIMs into new HLR only happens in the recent few months, not sure if they have completed this exercise. Long time I didn't check this with my engineer colleagues.

I changed mine much much earlier when LTE was rolled out and immediately I got LTE while others had to wait for some time.

Being the usual kiasu me.

Changing a SIM is as easy as ABC these days, immediate activation.
Anyway, of course nothing beats the convenience of using back the old SIM. If you are in LTE area and cannot detect LTE (providing using LTE device) from your SIM, you have no choice but to change to a newer batch of SIM.
