For wechat, yes, you can directly install from google play store.
For whatsapp, no, you can't directly install from google play store, you can either use Titanium Backup method or Helium backup method to get it installed on nexus 7.

u have to wait for few minutes to reenter your phone number,
enter your phone number and whatsapp will send sms.

then next time either u backup the app fully (titanium)
or just backup from inside whatsapp > settings > chat settings > backup conversations.

According to Asus malaysia, they said they are going to bring in Nexus 7 2013 to Malaysia in mid September but not sure only wifi model or wifi + LTE model, but I think they will launch 2 models at the same time drool.gif

After I got my nexus 7 and checked it whether there is any malfunction, I straight flash PA rom within an hour, been using PA rom for more than 2 weeks already and everything is working fine rclxms.gif

Latest build is PA 3.98 dated 21/8. This rom has phone ui as default(same as nexus 4 ui), you have to change the dpi yourself to get back the phablet ui(600dpi) like what we have on old nexus 7.

Carbon rom is quite a good rom, can try out PA rom too. If you don't like to click power button to unlock the device, you can try to flash ElementalX kernel, double tap screen to wake and swipe to sleep thumbup.gif

Try this:
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold both volume keys and the power button to enter Bootloader mode
3. Press the volume keys to cycle to the Recovery mode option
4. Press the power button to select Recovery mode
5. From the Recovery mode screen, press and hold the Power button then press the Volume up button.
6. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset.
7. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
8. Reboot.

Try closing the toolkit and start again, make sure all toolkit components are up-to-date. Btw, which toolkit you are using now? Wugfresh or mskip's nexus 7 toolkit?
