And now the perfumer managed to analyze and re-create the scent of an old perfume bottle hidden in a Civil War-era shipwreck off the coast of Bermuda.
A 150years old fragrance ready for its debut.

Good news. StrawberryNet is having 10% off again for all fragrances until 06 October 2014. However, our MYR is weakening against USD, sigh~

I would go for the one with more loves (in this case, NdN). With that said, I say go with what your heart desires wink.gif

NdN is my first pick too before I started to like opus v but contemplating between both frags
But recently I was using opus v and my friend told me my armpit was smelly. i thought it really was but when at home I ask him to smell the opus sample he told me that this is the armpit smell he found earlier lol

if it is Opuv IV i would say go for it... Opus V is heavy spice laden with Orange Syrup... lucky i did not get the "nasi briyani' vibe that ppl were talking abt....

Ndn would be a more universally-accept scent lol.... and it is Tom Ford

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Great shout-out to bro Astroboy, thank for the swap. I really found L'eau de Navigateur a very comforting scent. As i expected, my gf found it indian'ish' and i wore to meeting today and rainy day in KL, just so cozy....

IMO, this is the best smelling from l'artisan that actually last lol... However thank god my gf love the Mon Numero Uno tat i got for her...

back to this scent, it was created back in 1979, older than me now and it smell modern. Why? coz it reminds me of Amouage Fate Man, except LdN is more moist and less sweet.

TBH, i am not a fan of incense / resin heavy frag but the smokiness, the incense, the resin here are soft and they are close friends. if dry indian spice is not ur cup of tea or u dun like the smell of chai masala then this is not ur cup of tea.

Immediately you can get this boozy spice mixed together, and this is quite linear till the end. The tobacco, leather, rum all just softly well-blended so u get this boozy, green, dry, resinous, smoky, incensy scent throughout 7-8hrs on me lol... The coffee note in here is not the one you expecting from Play intense, new haarlem kind of coffee... here it is mild roast beans where u take a long tarik, u can get a greenish roast bean vibe in LdN

I would say this deserve to be called spicebomb but then isnt it weird to call this scent L'artisan Spice Bomb??? doh.gif

All in all, this is a very masculine scent from the 80s that is still modern if you have tried Amouage Fate Man. Strawberrynet always have discount for this... I am getting interested to explore this house further.. starting from Vanila absolutement, Traversee du Balsafore, Timbuktu...

New Scent Tryout Report

2/10/2014 Thursday
Time:12.45pm
Venue: KLCC Isetan
Subject: Guerlain L'Homme Ideal (GLI)

The best part of GLI Imo is the bottle design, nuf said lol. I have high hope for this scent due to the experience with the youtube legend - LIDGE. i try two sprays on my right hand, straight off i can get a candied grapefruit opening which i get also from BdC Edp then it get sweeter partly due to the tonka bean.

The opening is quite diabetic. later in the mid, i got this MIP sweet powder rubber vibe together with the nutty almond. Fragrantica say Amaretto accord, to me wtf is amaretto i never try before also, contreau i know la lol... anyway the heart stays like this...

now, seriously is this an ideal man suppose to smell like? No.... it is just too sweet for my liking.

By far my best almond scent will still be Mandoro di Sicilia, sorry Guerlain, this release is nth like ur rich history, i rather u commercialize your Tonka Imperiale, SdV, Cuir Beluga etc etc

My 2nd and final part of STC parcel has arrived today. Of the bunch, I like Tolu, love Habanita and L`Air de Rien. Got a bigger decant of LdR to try for the 2nd time to see if it's FB worthy for me as it's really expensive. Correction, LdR is actually not that expensive. Essenza Nobile has corrected its 100ml pricing from 100Euro to 84.03Euro.

This is what I've ordered :-
1 x Ormonde Jayne Tolu
(Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)
1 x Caron Tabac Blond Eau de Toilette
(Sample Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)
1 x Molinard Habanita EDT
(Sample Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)
1 x Dana Tabu Vintage EDC
(Sample Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)
1 x Amouage Gold Woman
(Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)
1 x Miller Harris L'air de Rien
(Sample Size: 2 ml Glass Spray)
1 x Lanvin My Sin Vintage EDP
(Sample Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)
1 x Lanvin Arpege EDP
(Sample Size: 1 ml Glass Sample Vial)

This is the picture for the first part. Lazy to take the 2nd part tongue.gif

I tried it before too from a swap with Angie last time. On my skin and to my nose, I get mostly tobacco with some spices and woody note. Well-blended overall I feel. Moderate projection and longevity on my skin. All in all, it's nice!

Bonjour all the fraghead here....
Finally managed to grab a set of Fragonard fragrance (Pure Parfum-5×30ml) for €145  in Paris during my last very tight working days here.
The store located at the back alley behind their museum.
One of the old France perfume house originated in Grasse.

This is nice, I got myself a fragonard suivez moi last year there too. Heard they actually OEM for other branded designer fragrance like JPG... Suivez Moi smells like JPG's Le Male

Now that's a tough question to answer because nobody knows your taste better than yourself. With that said, I've been in your shoes before when I was just starting out. Hope the following popular lists can help to get you started :-
- http://www.fragrantica.com/news/Most-Loved...-2012-4089.html

Or you can just accesss http://www.fragrantica.com/search/ and configure the filtering. For example, I chose "Any Year" and excluded "Female" (which basically means the all-time favorites) are (1) La Nuit, (2) Terre d'Hermes, (3) Bleu de Chanel etc. However, it's not a list I agree because my taste is more towards unique and difficult scents.

However, the following list closely matches my taste :-
- http://perfumesmellinthings.blogspot.com/2...ance-board.html

The #1 choice, Chergui is already on the way to me. Took advantage of weaker Euro and bought it from a Ebay seller from Germany.

I'm so thrilled to find out that fragX has just restocked a discontinued scent today. It's uncommon for that to happen but it did. The scent is Habanita by Monilard in EdT concentration, which I read has been discontinued recently (a couple of years ago). However, it's still widely available on ebay and amazon. Price ranged from $47 - $77 for a 100ml bottle. Unfortunately, shipping to Malaysia was expensive and I couldn't see myself paying for it until fragX restocked it. The price fragX has is $62 for the 100ml (Lalique) bottle. Peachy floral top with dry down of vintage BaV EdC.

In addition to that, in order to celebrate my successful passing of exam and obtaining of professional certification, I've also purchased Arpege by Lanvin (EdP) together with Habanita and it's the current formulation. Have not tried the vintage version but the current one is pretty good in my book and cheap. Peachy aldehydes with some jasmine, musk and vanilla. It's my first aldehydes scent purchase. Luca Turin says it's one of the best women scents men can wear smile.gif

Thanks bro!

Haha, it's not that I have sophisticated nose or anything like that. Everyone's taste is different and that's a good thing. It adds variety to our fragcomm.

Actually, Barbara is the one who sparked my interest in classic/vintage fragrances in her book, Scent & Subversion and her blog, yesterdaysperfume.com. I find her taste similar to Luca Turin and Victoria of boisdejasmin.com.

Correction on the price of Habanita at fragX, it's actually $44.74 and not $62, which I said previously.

My SOTD was AHEB by Chanel and SOTN is Interlude for men by Amouage.
