the most interesting one that i tried from AdP is Cispresso (Cypress). It is reminiscent of Gentianne Blanche from Hermes and is a woody yet light scent. Now discontinued.

Crisp, smoky vetiver. Has nutmeg and tobacco to accentuate the smoky aspects of vetiver. Great workhorse scent!

Mossy, creamy, lemony. Smells like vitagen which i love. It's a combination between lavender, lemon and black pepper on a mossy, slightly salty base. It's by an italian perfumer who claims that the formula was an old one that she found stashed somewhere created for a sea captain. Other accounts say she made it for her husband.

If you like sweet fragrance, you can try this. No, the opening for me is totally different. If iris is the liptick smell, then i got no iris in Fuel for life spirit. But review from fragrantica says that they smell the iris. http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Diesel/...irit-17821.html. Cinnamon and amber(spicy right?) are there. Not sure how incense smell though. The drydown for this and DHI for me is quite same. Sorry I need to wear it few more times to really get all the notes and compare to DHI.
Btw, I think...may be..you won't like it.  biggrin.gif
Edit :  just googled how iris smells, and yes, I got the iris in FuelForLifeSpirit.
*
Err iris is described to smell like rice, powder. Best way is often to smell perfumes that have iris because scent is very subjective. You may want to sniff hiris by Hermes or the dry down of prada amber pour homme to compare.

Farenheit fans rejoice!!!

QUOTE
Dior Fahrenheit Parfum (2013) {New Fragrance} {Men's Cologne}

Dior have released a new version of their classic men's fragrance Fahrenheit offered this time in parfum or extrait form, a concentration reserved in principle for feminine perfumes. It is called Fahrenheit Parfum. The composition is signed by perfumer François Demachy...

user posted image

The parfum opens on notes of pink peppercorn, lemon, and lavender then segues into the famous violet leaves heart. The base is particularly rich with notes of amber, benzoin, guaiac wood, birch, cedar wood, patchouli, vanilla and vetiver.

Like for Terre d'Hermès, which like Fahrenheit offers an unisex appeal, and started the more recent trend of proposing masculine extraits, it could be seen as a move to tap more indiscriminately into a cross-gender audience.

The unisex personality of Fahrenheit has carried over to Dior Homme which is its descendant, and is appreciated easily by women.

A very gentlemanly and warm scent. Bergamot/Orange top with powdery notes all over (in a masculine way). One of my favorites from Guerlain from all time.

No, I never say you are rude to me. You help me on many occasions in this thread, and I respect you. Just sometimes other newbie like me will scare to post anything in this thread if senior like you are being too harsh. You could advice them in a good way. Not teaching you btw, different people have different approach, so I'm sorry if my previous post to you is a bit rude. Looking forward for a nice advice from you guys.  notworthy.gif
SOTD : Coolwater. dislike at the first sniff. been wearing it a lot cause of no other option for a fresh scent, start to grow on me, but not yet to the stage that i like it. fresh, cool and classic scent btw.
*
Live Jazz is a fresh scent that is fresh but from a different approach. It has sharp lime that goes to coriander and then to some musk and guaic wood. It's fresh without the calone (the aquatic feel that cool water and aqua di gio has)

I read somewhere that most perfumers are men as men are able to smell, differentiate and segmentize more notes than women.

I could be wrong.
*
Well the male brain is more detailed and will tend to be more technical compared to women's brains. Women's brains are more emotional driven in general (the male driver/women driver difference) but these days the lines are blurred. Some good perfumers are women (Mona di Orio, Beatrice Piquet (creator of LIDG and LIDGE), Olivia Giacobetti (Hiris, Elixir, most of the L'artisan scents), Calice Becker (all of the By Killian scents), Germaine Cellier (Balmain Vent Vert, Shocking).

But one thing is that most scents from female perfumers tend to have less notes standing out compared to male perfumers. Perhaps that is what it meant?

Miss your post yesterday. What perfume are you looking for bro? I might place an order next week. If you interested to join you can always pm me.  biggrin.gif
I need to calm down and buy slowly, too much spend in this few days.  sweat.gif
So, usually the postage is around 10days bro? Quite fast. I really want the 200ml perry ellis 360 red, will use it as my go to scent.
And one more thing, do you feel using lotion before applying perfume make the perfume projects better or have a better longevity even if a bit?
*
Actually it does. Other than unscented lotion, Vaseline works as well. But it may or may not change the perfume's scent depending on the perfume.

Haha, seriously does age change our preference in perfume? Tonney and Edward bro always saying this. I scared I will be wearing old man scent when I'm 30s...

I love my sweet scent...  sad.gif

Your preference in perfume usually changes with your experience in perfume as well as the way you think. At least it is for me and most other people in basenotes.

So... was enjoying my new LIDGE until......  received comments it have this "grandma" smell, and reminds the person of their "grandma". shocking.gif

Dont feel so good when using this now, probably will only use it in certain occasions  doh.gif

On the other hand, Virgin Island Water is an awesome perfume. To me it smells like lime, coconut + rum.
I still get whiffs of it after applying for more than 6 hours, but unsure if others can detect the smell.  hmm.gif
*
Probably the sandalwood/patchouli part. The cocoa makes it smell modern.

a cheaper VIW is Paul Smith London. Also coconut, also rum....

At the moment, after using few perfume and vials in different groups, I find out that I'm more into fresh aquatic citrusy scent or something sweet like 1 million, gucci guilty. I guess that shows immaturity of myself in the perfumes line.
My boss is a girl and she is single.  brows.gif

Joking.

No it does not. Just go with what you like and as time passes you will learn. I started out that way as well.

SOTD: Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille
user posted image

Declared by many as THE ultimate vanilla scent, SDV is vanilla given the Guerlain treatment. It opens up with vanilla and pink pepper, then goes down to a beautiful vanilla note, supplemented by lots of sweet rum. There is a small hint of cedar in the midst and it dries down to a powdery vanilla benzoin base with incense/woody accents and a touch of white musk. Perfume is strong and can last more than 24 hours.

Thanks, I think my taste won't change drastically because of my personality.

*
It wont but it will change more or less as you experience new things and the more perfumes you smell and the more you get experienced with it. Before starting on perfumes my fave notes are sandalwood and vanilla. They still are now, just that more favorite notes are added and i learn that there are many different types of vanilla scent as well as sandalwood.

Tonney bro, I still couldn't find empty decant bottle.  sweat.gif  Will be going back to kampung for a week starting tomorrow clearing annual leave. I'll let you know once i got the decant bottle ya.
Last Saturday going to office half-day with 2pray of a*men. Not even 5 minutes in, my close colleague said "bro, wtf are wearing, you smell horrible". Straight away go toilet and wash away the perfume. hahahahaha. Still left light smell after that also.
*
Thats why never wear or buy perfumes that you dont like no matter how much of a 'must have' it is for others.

perfumes are a very personal thing. what someone else likes may not be what you will like. perfume reviews give you a general idea of what it smells like, but it may be different to you.
