Yes as a new comer, I also find that those two are the hardest brand to find whether online or at regular perfume store. Chanel is harder to find btw. May I know roughly how much does the Chanel allure line cost? Sport, edition blanche and blue de chanel.
To an untrained nose like mine, will this Mont Blanc legend smells different compared to platinum Egoiste? Quite interesting because I heard you mentioned about this few times already. Used perfume also quite hard to find bro. Always check at stuff for lads.
A perfume is always based on a concept and the same concept may be used by a different house which results in their own interpretations of how the scent should smell like but in general they smell pretty much the same. Mont Blanc Legend and Platinum Egoiste as well as Paco XS all smell the same/similar as they are based on the same aromatic fogure concept. A*men/l'instant de guerlain is both based on chocolate on skin, one takes the sweet direction while the other goes classy but still sweet. Gardenia by Chanel/Penhaligons/Gardenia Petale (van cleef & arpels) smell very similiar but there are very subtle differences that only a trained nose can tell. Most houses will not say it outright, but very rarely some will. For example, Concentre d Orange Verte by Hermes is a homage to Eau Savauge (as said by its creator, Jean Claude Elena whose mentor, Edmond Roundistika created Eau Savauge) which is why they smell very similiar to each other with only very little differences.
Chanel line is around 280-300. For the older classics such as Egoiste and Anateus it will be cheaper.
justparfum is a physical store. They have a branch in 1U and Pavilion and possibly other outlets.
Chanel and Dior controls their distribution very tightly so that they can sell their perfumes at the highest price. this is their marketing tactic. But at the same time, their scents smell more refined and complex compared to other designers. You get what you pay.
